Who watches the AWA on ESPN Classics?
I figure this can also be the official thread for AWA.

Usually (or it use to be) on around Midnight on ESPN Classics on the weekdays. It took the place of Herb Abrams UWF that was being shown. I wish they would put up Bill Watts UWF. That would be freaking great to watch

It's on at midnight on ESPN Classic. They still show UWF on Saturdays, if I remember right. On Saturday it's UWF at 11pm then AWA at 12am.

Is it on every night at midnight? Almost every night. it's on most weeknights, it wasn't on wednesday for some reason. I don't think it's on Sundays either. ESPN Classic is weird how they schedule things, it seems like they randomly move things around.

Yeah, some nights they'll replace it with a hockey game or a baseball game, but it's usually on Mon-Fri. I've never seen it on Saturday or Sunday.

Looks like I was wrong about Saturday. Friday night is UWF from 11 - 12 then AWA from 12 - 1.
I've been on vacation for a week and a half. All my days are running together.

I love watching AWA on ESPN. Its on at 11 pm for me so unfortunately I usually fall asleep within the first 20 minutes.
It really brings back some memories for me as I got into watching wrestling in late 1987 which included watching AWA on Saturday mornings from 1988-1989. Its fun to see that old stuff again, even the cheesy things (Eric Bischoff, Diamond Dallas Page, the Diamond Doll) and the downright bad concepts (Team Challenge Series, Gimmick matches involving football gear and frozen turkeys).
I wonder how the AWA got the rights to use mainstream music for theme songs? Or if they just did it without caring about rights. Some of the music they selected is just awful. I can't remember who it was but someone used 'Don't Worry Be Happy' as their entrance music. I think it was somebody like Samoan Swat Team.
Its also kind of sad seeing half empty arenas and the lack of star power towards the end. Gagne was really trying to push guys that were basically jobbers into main event roles. DJ Gabrielson? Jammin' Mitch Snow? Rocky Mountain Thunder? hahahaha
Either way, great to see some of my old favorites, Bad Company and the Destruction Crew. Good times.

I'm pretty sure the Samoan Swat Team came out to Janet Jackson's Nasty.

I've watched it here and there.
It's cool to see big names like Hennig & Hall before their awesome gimmicks. And there's also the fact that Hall looked like a 70's porn star that I find humorous.

So I found out that I don't have ESPN Classic - I am pretty bummed out that I can't catch any of this.

I used to watch it, then I saw Dennis Stamp get booked on an episode and my head exploded. Dennis Stamp is on quite a few of those episodes, actually... particularly the 1986 ones. I used to watch it all the time when they first started re-airing them a year or two ago. One episode had a pretty decent match between Stamp and Greg Gagne. Regarding theme songs, Slappy, the Nasty Boys came out to "Nasty" by Janet Jackson. The weirdest theme song choice was "Dress You Up" by Madonna, which was used for Doug Somers and Buddy Rose. Larry Zbyszko's theme in the later episodes is "Simply the Best" by Tina Turner. I always found it weird that they chose so many songs by female artists for themes.

I watch it when it's on, I DVR every show so when I'm bored I'll just watch some AWA, but I found it really sad during the end of AWA how empty the seats are and how they pushed so many unknown people, also they even misspelled Wahoo McDaniel's name on the screen graphic.
