Once again. Not an accent. It's a brogue. An accent is just a voice inflection. A brogue causes different pronunciation of words.

We should get Sheamus, Drew McCintyre, Teddy Long, Tony Atlas, and Dusty Rhodes to have a cross talk session on world views. Andre and Booker T would fit in nicely.

im irish and i lived thirteen years here and sheamus is the first person i heard talk like that get it in your heads we arent midgets we dont drink ginus 24/7 and we dont talk like that so i wish the wwe would employ a non-ginger irish person who can play in a normal role with non-green clothes and entrance music in ROCK thought i might let that out If your meaning Finlay he's from the country of NORTHERN Ireland

Which seems odd cause one would think you could spell the one thing ignorant people associate with your country. But the issue with having a non-ginger, not wearing green, etc in WWE is, that's not how a vast majority of people view Irish people. WWE is heavily based on stereotypes. Look at William Regal, Tajiri/Yoshi Tatsu, any Mexican, Kofi for the time he was pretend Jamaican, The Mountie, etc. If WWE really wanted the non-stereotypical Irish guy, Prince Devitt exists.

its an accent - everyone has one. also is it really that hard to spell "Mcintyre" and speaking of pronunciation i find it hilarious that americans cant say Edinburgh or Glasgow correctly...hilarious. Not to mention the words, thorough, simultaneous, aluminium, soldered, route, multi, semi, mirror, hostile, agile, tomato - I could go on...

Why are all you Europeans getting so offended? As if some of you don't come on here and talk about how fat and lazy we all are. Lighten up.

I don't think anyone's acting 'so offended' tbh, maybe apart from the one guy talking about american pronunciation. But yeah, I love the Irish accent anyway, it's nice to hear something different and distinct imo.

I'm not "offended" at all - I find it amusing, that an American is pointing out the mis-pronunciation of words. The way some of you pronounce certain words, genuinely irritates me. Well I apologize if I offended anyone. How I typed it, is how it sounds to me. And just for the record, I like the way Wade Barret speaks... and Sheamus too.

Almost everyone has an accent speaking another language. And why do we need to go into whether it is vocal inflection, accent, brogue... What is wrong with the common and accepted terminology?
Now you definitely do not realize how you sound speaking another countries language. The British speaking English to an American sounds funny. An American speaking Spanish to a Mexican sounds funny. You may not think it because you are used to the way you talk. Every different language stresses different parts of words and pronunciations. Two Japanese people talking to each other may say the word "Engrish" to each other and think nothing of it. But as American's we hear it and think it's funny.
It's human nature, and I don't see why people take offence of people trying to imitate another countries accent. It's intriguing because it isn't normal to us. Of course that guy may have exaggerated Wide Baw-rett's accent. Of course we find humor in a Japanese fellow blurting out with a quickness "This is Foonaki... Smack down, numbah one announcah!"
I just don't see why everyone got riled up, like there were personal attacks to people's countries. The topic starter basically stated that the way Sheamus talk's intrigues him.
Just look at it this way. When you look at wrestlers like Regal, Tatsu, or Finlay, their characters are based heavily on their heritage/accents. If Finlay didn't have a heavy accent, I'm sure they wouldn't stress his Irish heritage, etc. But what if WWE was a Irish, Japanese organization originally? Are all the Japanese character's peppy and bubbly hyperactive guys? Or are they all martial artists? Not at all. But what would the American's be in this Japanese organization? Probably proud loud rednecks. I'm not saying it's like this in Japan, that's just how WWE chooses to play upon people's stereotypes.
I mean isn't Vince McMahon Irish? Do they stress it? Not at all. That may not be the best example but you know what I mean.
