Have retrieved some of Hasbromaniac's post. I will upload these to my own website later on before they get lost.
Here is a typical cardback from this series:
Next up is a Testshot Prototype of the Repo Man. Stomwijf owns a bunch of these testshots.
Here we have a pre-production sketch of Flair; note where it says to reuse Rude's body.
Last up is a sketch of "Texas Tornado" Berzerker:
Hope you enjoyed this post. Next up later this week: the YELLOW CARDED SERIES!!!
Early 1994 saw the release of Series 12, the Red Cards. Assortment 7576 consisted of: Bret Hart, Lex Luger, Undertaker 2, Bam Bam Bigelow, Yokozuna and Mr. Perfect 2:
Here is a cardback from the set:
Next up a sketch of “The Beast From The East”, Bam Bam Bigelow:(nice spelling of his last name). LOL!:
Bret Hart was released at retail with two different shades of hearts, this time though the hearts were not on his chest but his right leg. The 1st release saw a purplish set of 4 hearts and later 4 pinkish ones. The differences isn’t as noticeable as with his blue carded release but it does exist. I have seen dozens of Red Carded Brets in both shades, so it is not just a fluke lighter spray op.
1st pictured below is the purplish one:
Next is the pinkish ones:
It’s much more distinguishable holding them in person than from these scans.
The non-retail Brets that were made started with this mock up piece, shown next to the mock up Luger. Notice Luger’s half painted head:
It seems that Bret was possibly going to have a clothesline action the 2nd go around. Unfortunately the cost control people at Hasbro won out and re-released the original Bret mold but with new colors.
I will discuss all the mail-away figures in a separate topic after the Dark Blue Carded Set. Here I will just talk about the original version of Bret that was supposed to be sent from the WWF Magazine offer. This cooler Bret was to have black elbow pads, white wrist tape and black star spray ops on his boots and lower back:
I even have a much rarer carded specimen that has all the above, EXCEPT instead of white wrist tape, he has pink. Sorry for the glare on this scan:
Here is a typical cardback from this series:
It must have been a confusing time at Hasbro as they were not sure what mold to use on Shawn or what spray op to use on Kamala. Below is the sketch for Shawn Michaels:
Next is Kamala's, no mention of what should go on his stomach here:
Strange that the cardback up above does have him shown with his moon. Even stranger, is that the front of Kamala's package has his moon as well.
Hasbro did correct their mistake and supposedly 12 to 24 carded samples of Kamala with moon were produced for internal purposes.
How many were really made ? How many still exist in the package ? How many still exist at all ?
Over the past decade I am aware of only 2 legitimate samples. The own that was won on ebay and the seller tried to resell recently and my own. Mine was bought back when Hasbros were still in production. Here is a pic of 1 of my 2 "Hasbro Holy Grails":
How can you tell if you are looking at a legitimate Kamala w/moon MOC or a custom ? 2 dead giveaways are:
A) a price tag or price tag residue - Duh ?, it was never at retail, so why would there be a price on it.
B) there is a fairly large white import sticker on the cardback - it was never shipped around the country or out of the country.
Other obvious signs I didn't list are: a sloppy looking moon, torn blister, fuzzy pic, etc.
I hope that we can get some more insight on this set from you collectors out there. If not, let's start the rumor mill going on the Kamala.
I would probably sell my MOMC Kamala w/moon before parting with this Bret.
Next week, hopefully, the Purple Series!!!
Here is a typical cardback from this assortment:
Here is a sketch of Rick Steiner, notice the reused parts that are mentioned:
Here is a pre-production sketch of “the Million Dollar Man Ted Hogan”; boy, other than Doink, this was the worst reused body part set Hasbro made:
Here even is the prototype test shot of the “Tedster”:
Next up: The Dark Blue Series!
1994 The Dark Blue Card Series consisted of 10 figures: Luke 2, Butch 2, Marty Janetty 2, Giant Gonzales, Samu, Fatu, Shawn 3, Shawn 4, Razor 2 and Razor 3. The Hasbro catalog pic below only shows the 6 newer figures:
Here is a basic cardback from this assortment:
Here is a pre-production sample cardback of Giant Gonzales. The figure in the package is the same as the regular release, just the package is slightly different.:
Next up is the sketch of ol' Gonzales:
For a brief moment, Hasbro kicked around the idea of making Shawn 4 and Razor 3 as mailaways, but that never came to be. Those 2 figures were added to the case shortly after the inital shipments were released.
That's it for now, please keep the feedback coming. Although I have a lot of WWF Hasbro knowledge, I'm hoping to learn from members here as well.
A typical cardback looks like the pic below, minus the sticker from my Yokozuna pre-production sample:
Next is a scan of my Crush green tag factory standard sample:
Here is the info on back of the tag:
Lastly is a portion of my pre-production sketch of Yokozuna:
Sorry that there's not any variants to chase down in this last series or the few that preceeded it.
Next up: Bagged Figures !!!
The first 2 bagged figures in the US were of Hulk Hogan 1 and Savage 1. They came in the exclusive JC Penney boxed ring set. Below is the pic of Hogan:
Next up are the Savages; The one on the right is the variant package:
These 2 bagged figures were supposedly available in the UK as cereal premiums ?
That is the story from several UK collectors. There hasn't been any conclusive proof of this though. Anyone from the UK have any more info, it would be greatly appreciated.
Next up we have the European release of Hogan 2:
There are 2 different stories about this piece. One is that it was an exclsuive mail in from Silvervision video. The other is that this was sent to collectors after the red shirt Hogan ran out. Once again, any more on this ?
Last up are the WWF magazines 3 mailaways. I'll start with Bret:
Bret was originally supposed to look like the version on the right. For whatever reason, Hasbro scrapped that idea and released him as the version seen on the left.
This "purple" hearted Bret is very common out of the bag, as it was re-released as a carded figure via KB Toys. Many sellers claim that their figure was bagged but now loose. As I've made mention before, if this Bret is still in its original baggie, it is the "Mailaway Bret". If it is carded or loose, it's just the "purple hearted Bret".
Last up are the Undertaker with light brown hair & beard & red shirt Hogan:
This version of the Undertaker is very hard to find, bagged or even loose. Hogan is a lot easier to find and goes for around $100.00 MIP.
Hasbro apparently kicked around the idea for making there last pair of mailaways Shawn (silver/black) and Razor (purple), but that never saw the light of day. If anyone saved the pic of the Money Inc. mock up ad, please kindly post it here.
Please post your comments and insights as I'd like to fill in the blanks on the history of the bagged figures as well.
Next up: the WWF wrestling rings- collector pics will be needed!
Thanks to all who read and contributed !!!
Below is my baker's dozen of error pieces;in no particular order of favoritism:
1) Akeem w/o moustache
2) Sgt. Slaughter w/o moustache
3) Hogan w/yellow knee pads
4) Savage w/o "oh Yeah" emblem on jacket
5) Piper on Warrior card
6) Dusty on halfback card (Dusty front/Duggan cardback)- not shown
7) Kamala w/half painted beard
8) Owen on signed Razor cardback (not shown)
9) Purple hearted Bret on Red card
10) DiBiase (Rick Steiner moustache)
11) Gonzalez on Samu cardback
12) Gonzalez on halfback card (Gonzalez front/Shawn cardback)- not shown
13) Billy on Bart cardback
***(There was no point in me showing the half backs, as I would have to show both sides of the cards. If I get enough requests, I may scan them. The Owen piece is in a large wooden memorial display case.)***
Please post pics of any errors you may own!!!
***I'm going to do a poll later this month to see how many collectors would like to see a WCW Galoob History.***
I still have all the sketches taht he posted as well.

Welcome to the latest installment in the Hasbro saga. This is by far my most favorite set to own, chock full of unique pieces.Early 1994 saw the release of Series 12, the Red Cards. Assortment 7576 consisted of: Bret Hart, Lex Luger, Undertaker 2, Bam Bam Bigelow, Yokozuna and Mr. Perfect 2:

Late 1993 saw Hasbro release their 11th Series of WWF figures, dubbed the "Yellow" Carded Series. The assortment was asst. 7278, and consisted of the following figures: Razor Ramon, Nailz, Crush, Owen Hart, Shawn Michaels and Kamala. Here is a typical cardback from this series:

The next series of 1994 WWF figures was Assortment 7577, otherwise known as the “Purple” carded set. This set was supposed to consist of: Ted DiBiase 3, Doink, Scott Steiner, Rick Steiner, Hacksaw Jim Duggan 2 and Brutus Beefcake 3. Unfortunately Beefcake was scrapped and Tatanka took his place. No redeco on Tatanka either; cheap Hasbro bastiches! LOL!Here is a typical cardback from this assortment:
