Before I even opened the thread, I immediately thought of D'Lo.
Not so much Chaz, but definitely D'Lo.
From 1998 through most of 1999 he was having great matches all the time. Whether it was the Intercontinental, European or Tag Team belts (with Mark Henry) he was always defending or chasing a title every PPV it seemed. The angle with the chest protector was classic. He had it on forever and JR would always blow up his spot asking why he still needed to wear it months after the fact. Lawler would always defend the heels back then, saying D'Lo was only guilty of being a "slow healer".
I would like to think otherwise, but it seemed as if all the momentum D'Lo was building ended the night of the Droz incident. Afterwards, he dropped the European belt and did little with the rest of his initial stint with the company.
Honorable mentions have to go to Crash and Steve Blackman. The stuff they were doing with the Hardcore title was great and the 24/7 rule made for some hilarious TV. I will never forget the image of Crash going down the Chuck E. Cheese slide to get the hell out of dodge - with referee in tow. Classic!
The early Val Venis stuff was very edgy and the character was totally over with the crowd.
Gangrel. Okay, so the guy didn't accomplish much, but he had the greatest theme song and the coolest entrance of the Attitude Era and that should count for something.
Al Snow was also very entertaining in 1999. Too bad his career never recovered after that Kennel from Hell abomination.
And that Austin guy wasn't too bad either.

ken shamrock. they were building him up nicely, and his match with michaels at iyo was quite good albeit his greenness. i always felt he should've continued to have been pushed.

Damn I always thought I was the only one who loved Lo-Down..They had a bunch of good matches on Jakked..I just wish they would have never teamed with Tiger Ali Singh..To me that's where that team went downhill...They should have been built up to be contenders for the tag straps..They had some cool moves

Ken Shamrock and Val Venis for me.
I was stunned when I seen the vignette for Venis with Jenna Jameson in it!!he was way over and he should have done more.
Shamrock faded badly after his time with the Union was done IMO

I liked Flash Funk. His gimmick kind of blew but, It was 2 cold Scorpio for God sake. He had the moves and ability. But they failed to use it.
He put on some very nice matches in his time with WWE

I was actually just about to start a thread along these same lines. We always talk about great wrestlers who should have gotten to wear the Heavyweight title but never did. Names like Perfect, Rude, and Jake Roberts. Who from the Attitude area do you think the WWE missed out on by not putting the belt on them.
I think Shamrock is one of them. I think Ron Simmons and the Rock could have had a pretty good program over the title. Other than the two of them I couldn't really think of anyone that could have worn the belt, Maybe Owen.

i think it was round about the time of the attitude era that heavyweight belts started getting traded around all the time, thus losing their shine.
