With all the hype the WWF did for Lex Luger why do you guys think Vince didn't give Lex the heavyweight title at such hyped big time summer slam PPV? beating Yokozuna by countout was such a disappointment.

My only guess is to drag on the hype. The fued started on Independence Day '93. A 2 month build up wouldn't help the "Lex Express" grow. They wanted to make Luger a major player. Making him win shows he can be a star, but keep the title off of him to drag out the push.

I'm sure Vince wanted to build Luger with his big win coming at WresteMania X, which was the original plan (Luger vs. WWF Champion Ludvig Borga). However a bunch of different things happen and Luger's overall popularity wasn't as big as WWF had hoped.

I think it was to make when he actually won the title to see m bigger. Plus Yoko just won the belt at KOTR.
