That was me back in the 80's. Man was tough being a kid growing up 10 minutes from NYC and loving the NWA and hating the WWF with a passion. The closest we got to getting the NWA around us was to go to Philly which I never got the chance to do . Beside the very raw stop at the Meadowlands Arena it was terrible.

Amen! I had to wake up at 2AM on Saturday morning just to watch it. WPHL (channel 17 from Philadelphia) would air it. We didn't get a VCR until a year later. I'm glad we did. I still have hundreds of hours of classic footage.
I never got to see the NWA (Jim Crockett Promotions) live. The closest place they would have shows was at the Spectrum in Philadelphia.

Man, I feel sorry for you guys. But at the same time, I'm glad to hear that some northeast fans recognized the brilliance that was NWA wrestling.
I grew up in Richmond, VA and went to see Crockett wrestling live all the time. Now, of course, I'm just like you -- an NWA fan surrounded by people who think Vince invented wrestling and that the NWA was some kind of minor league.

I didn't start watching wrestling until 97, but I've watched old tapes, and came to NWA > WWF. If I was watching wrestling i would have been a New York NWA fan.
