Wait, Sting being out of shape and "strung-out" was the reason for Sting not getting a clean win off Hogan? Did Sting botch the finish or something? In Eric Bischoff's book he mentions how unhappy he and Hogan were with Sting for not showing up "ready for work" being in poor cardiovascular conditioning, lacking desire and being pretty strung-out on drugs. The match was lackluster and that is due to Sting. He moved around the ring as if he were sedated and put forth an uninspired performance in the biggest match of his career. Add all that up and it is the reason why he was not rewarded with the clean win over Hogan. Justifiably so. Sorry, even if that is true, and I'm reluctant to take Hogan's word/excuse for some of the crap they pulled, it still doesn't justify that finish. If Sting was messed up, don't give him the belt. If you're going to have the match and give him the belt, don't make it some stupid nonsensical do-over finish. What people remember about that match is not Sting's "uninspired" performance, they remember the dumb ass finish. Plus, a drugged-out Sting is better in the ring than a sober Hogan.

yup. to this day the end of WM17 and Austins turn at Invasion mark 2 of WWFs BIGGEST and STUPIDEST mistakes. Starrcade 97 was a total failure because of Hogan-of course we all know that. Was Hogan Sting's drug dealer and personal trainer? Sting dropped the ball on the biggest night of his career by being out of shape and strung-out. So unless Hogan was doing a poor job of training Sting at the gym, or supplying him with illegal narcotics, then I'd say Hogan was not responsible for the match being a bust. do you really think Bischoff if going to admit that Hogan did what he liked when he liked during this time?and that Bischoff had basically no say with Hogan? everyone knows that Hogan showed up and vetoed the finish of the match(at the very last minute too) stating his now infamous creative control clause where he cleanly tapped out......because of that the end of the match was HORRIFICALLY anticlimatic. if I was Sting I would have been undermotivated too.you hang around the roof for a year plus only for the orange skinned one and his planet sized ego to turn up and reverse the outcome of the match.Bischoff was powerless here and because he is stuck in Hogans ass like toilet paper he wont admit it. he likes to make people think he was on top of every big decision in WCW.he claims responsibility for inventing the NWO hand signal too......whereas everyone says Hall did.just like everyone says in shoots that Hogan ruined Starrcade 97-not Sting

I actually liked the end of mania 17. It was only logical that vince would eventually team up with austin. Thats how wrestlng works. Guys who hate eachother will almost always team up eventually and teams who like eachother always break up and feud.
