Sid is the only logical answer, unless WWF wanted Hogan to win the Rumble for the 3rd consecutive time.
I would have loved to see Kerry Von Erich win, but at that point in his career he was running on fumes, same goes for DiBiase. Piper would have been a great story as well, but Sid was so over that I'm actually surprised he did not end up winning the Rumble over Flair.

I would have to have seen the original plans for that Rumble to come true. Roddy Piper was suppose to win the World Title at Tuesday Night In Texas. Roddy was going to sub. for Hogan who would have been "hurt" from the steel chair tombstone from Undertaker at Survivor Series. Roddy was to have gone onto the Rumble to lose it to Flair. Hogan was going to win the Rumble to face Flair at Mania 8. For some reason, of course, this didn't happen. This story was verifyed to me by Roddy and Percy Pringle. I have heard so many reasons for Hogan vs Flair not happening at WM8 but the main one was Sid being promised a Main Event at Mania in his contract.but I dunno what to believe. The Sid getting a title shot was the first and main rumor as it was said that Sid was a Main eventer in WCW before and after his WWF run and was only willing to jump ship if he was promised the same. Later on the rumors of because Hogan was leaving to do movies came about but Ive found that rumor to be false IMO since from 92-93 he only did 1 movie in Mr. Nanny. The Piper winning the title rumor is a first for me, Ive never heard of it but for some reason I find it a lil hard to believe since Piper wasnt an active wrestler at the time AND he was a substitute for the IC title.

Went with DiBiase for nostalgia's sake. Although he should have had a reign way before this some time during 88-90.

I voted for DiBiase even though there was no way he would have won the Championship at that stage of his career. I just always thought he should have been WWF Champion at some point in his life. My 2nd choice would not have happened either, but that would have been Jake Roberts. My 3rd choice would actually have been Kerry Von Erich. I always wondered what he would have been like if put in the position to be a player there in WWF like he was in Texas. But his physical limitations combined with his excesses at that point in his life prohibited us from finding out.

I voted for Michaels. It would have been bad for business and illogical at the time, but that's how I voted. As far as who SHOULD have won: DiBiase or Piper. Both should have held the title at some point.

I'll say Kerry Von Erich, because the timeframe seems about right. For the rest of 1992, he was reduced to mid-card then dropped. And it would've been amazing to see Kerry pull out a World Title run sober (which he was up to the Rumble).
DiBiase, Mr. Perfect, and British Bulldog would've all been amazing champions, but the timeframe isn't right.
By logical storylines, however, Sid would make the most sense. Well, Flair did actually, but Sid comes second.

Honestly Im kinda surprised nobody voted for Santana or Valentine. Both were Tag Champions, both were Intercontinental champions. I think the El Matador gimmick kinda kills it for Santana though
