ill second a&d ointment... its cheap.. works great ...
other things are usually too expensive and do pull out ink.. the only thing in my personal experiences that fits in the category thats good is h2ocean..
i have had a few friends use tattoo goo and it pulled ink out .. but to each thier own... try what ya want.. and see how it works for you.

I use Aquaphor on my tatts, and never had an issue.
The UK equivalent would be Aqueous. Costs about 3 quid.

so im thinking of getting another tato on my week off from work next month. i want 'we want the airwaves back' (lyrics by a swedish punk band refused) either down the outer part of my arm from my wrist to my elbow, or possibly on my bicep.
has anyone else here got any written tattoos somewhere? im really at a loss as to where i really want it, and to what font i want.

A huge chance. In fact, if you go to a poor artist, I can pretty much guarantee that you'll still be able to see the old one. Shop around, find the BEST artist in your area and spend some real money.

yea, you need to be very cautious with cover ups. i've seen some people that had really wished they'd just left the original alone.

Hey dude, a little wallet rape for something that will last your lifetime, totally worth it.
When I get my vacation from work, I'm going back to my old artist (did Leonardo and my bomb) to get the back of my right hand done. While there, I plan to drop a deposit on another idea, just to get the artwork ready.
Any MARVEL fans? I want a Sacred Deadpool.
Deadpool in place of Our Lady of Guadalupe/Virgin Mary, with the cloak on, typical Catholic artwork surrounding him, and instead of praying, wielding a pistol... and of course, the classic one eye squinting, one wide open.

that deadpool idea is fantastic and completely fitting for his character. i've considered getting a marvel hero but i think i'd go a bit more old school, and get a tattoo of the black hood (red circle version) or something: one of my favorite single issue comics EVER.

It's a little modified than the original design, but I think the purple looks more effective with the "white" border around it, especially in person.

Looking likely that I'm getting my first tattoo in the next couple of weeks.
Want to get "I have not sold myself to God." on my forearm.
It's a line from Patti Smiths Babelogue, always meant a lot to me.
