hey doom kickass tat,i was wondering the meaning behind it I don't have any meaning, at all actually. I just see stuff I love and bring it to my artist. In this case, it's just have an undying love for animals. I now have a mastodon skull on my hand, pig head on my forearm, ram on my upper shoulder, and that leg is currently at 3 warthogs; the top one, the skull on the bottom, and there's a new secret one on the back of my knee. BTW...never get tattooed on the back of your knee. Holy mother of pearl does it tickle.

First new bit of ink in a LONG time. Need to get one of the eyes touched up a bit to even up the thickness, but I LOVE the "Spidey-sense". Next tattoo, I'll be going back out of town for. Thinking of a piece for the Walking Dead comic. Rick Grimes head when he had a beard and long hair, and underneath it crossed in an X, his axe and his Colt Python.

Too kind Doom, I didn't even have words for your insane leg piece. You're very lucky to have an artist THAT gifted, and I am sure the challenge of that beast is a welcomed change of pace from the menial tattoos they probably get rather often. A work of art like that belongs published.
Can't wait for my Grimes, a lot of people have been telling me to hold off in case the story goes down hill since it's still continuing, but I really have faith in Robert Kirkman's writing.
I might also do a bracelet of Pumpkin Bombs on the wrist I have Spider-Man on.

Realyl digging the Spider-Sense man. It's simple but yet still very much badass. Hoping to get in the shop within the next week to get the finishing touches on my sleeve and work on my chest piece a bit more.

Im about to get my side tatted and i heard its one of the most painful places. anyone have their side done? is it really that bad?
This is what im getting.
"Being honest is no means of survival, avoid your inner-feelings like the plague, This is what it takes to comply with the images this structure will accomodate, But things aren't what they seem when they're partially hidden behind walls of pretence built for peace of mind. The barriers between us are forever maintained by our acceptance of the roles others choose to define.
In a world of competition life's portrayed as a contest where we're forced to live by making gains at others expense, But no-one's really gaining when perpetual conflict's the result of our relationships based on pretence, We don't need this cultural cosmetic division it upholds the self-interest on which the system feeds. A deconditioned consciousness of mutual respect is the only way to cure this cosmetic disease."
its the lyrics to "Cosmetic Plague" from the band Rudimentary Peni. i want to get it all in one session, is that too much?

Hey guys, I'm starting to look into getting my first tattoo, and I must admit I feel a bit intimidated about it all. I'm not worried about the pain, and I have a fairly good idea of what I want done. Its the design process that I feel unsure about, so I could really use some insight.
Basically I want to get stylized/shaded blue flames up my forearm, I've found a few pictures of flame art that I like, but they're just vague ideas, I want to leave the final shape/style design to the tattoo artist.
I've found a local tattoo place which specializes in freehand design work, it seems like a professional place and I like their portfolio of work examples. So I phoned them up and they said the first step is to come down to discuss my ideas and talk about prices. Then after that I can book to have it done, I have to put down a deposit and theres a waiting list of 2 months.
The thing that confused me was I asked the woman on the phone how the design process works, I said "so if I come down to discuss my ideas, will the artist do some sketches for me or what?" and she said "no, we don't do any design work until you've booked it and paid a deposit".
So I feel kinda confused now. How am I supposed to decide whether I want them to do it without them doing any design work? Does all the design work take place on the day I go to have it done?
I know I probably sound really stupid to you guys but I just feel totally lost. I'm the sort of person I don't feel confident doing something like this unless I understand how the whole process works. And I don't want to feel rushed or pressured into this.
Would be really helpful if someone could give me more insight or a step-by-step as to how the tattoo design process works.

Thanks for the comments on my Spidey guys! Goofiest thing about the tattoo is, since it's right on my wrist, whenever I move my hand forward and back, it makes the lower jaw move like he's talking, lmao. You could get it all in one session, but I'd personally break that up and get one verse done at a time since that is a LOT to do. Big props on Peni too, have you heard the AWESOME cover Witch Hunt does of that song? One of the sickest covers of ANYTHING I have ever heard. Would be really helpful if someone could give me more insight or a step-by-step as to how the tattoo design process works. I'll start from the beginning man. First all of all, hat's off to you for getting up, and actually checking a place out - a lot of people (at least around here) think everything is practically equal, and in turn I see a TON of bad tattoos every single day. Secondly, a two month waiting list is damn impressive, that shows that the shop has a lot of clients, and a lot of people see their work as quality. --The deposit they want, is well... basically, you're paying for the artists time in coming up with some artwork for you. Deposits on custom work are usually reflective of "first timers" who say they are committed to getting something done, but just never come back. Tattooers would waste a LOT of time (and time is money) if they didn't ask for the deposit up front and the person who wanted the art never came back. Talk to your artist of choice in person, if you have the cash, drop a deposit and hash out some ideas, you can even ask for a few different variations - and if you don't, and they only draw up one design and it is something you DO NOT LOVE, and would not want on your body for the rest of your life - don't be afraid to speak up and ask for something changed. It's YOUR tattoo afterall - but it is their art, so be respectful of it. Lastly, if you haven't gone down to the shop yet, do it! Go down, in person and not only chat with an artist, but also whoever is working the desk. That should really be your first stop, typically the person at the desk is going to be really familiar with the styles of the different artists, and if you tell them your idea, they can probably get you a portfolio of an artist who best suits what you want. Some are better at realism, or new school, or Japanese, and so on than others. Hope some of that was helpful. P.S. - Marino13, if you're looking into Spider-Man art, check out Alex Ross, Ben Herrera, Francisco Herrera, and Joe Quesada. Just a few of my fav. artists of the web-slinger.

Hey guys, I've been toying with the idea of getting this on my right pec The reason I want it on my pec is because I want to get a tattoo I feel is tasteful. Now I ain't slighting anyone else's choice, but I'd rather have one that I can show off as and when I want (eg on the beach). I don't want it to be visible all the time, because when people see it I want them to think "wow I didn't know he had a tattoo" or something like that. So basically I want a tribal lion, since my starsign is Leo and my family crest is of a lion. I like the look of this one, and wouldn't mind having something similar if not the exact same as it. So my question to you guys is if I have it in solid black as it appears above, would it be visible through white polo shirts (remember it will be on my pec)? I only want it to be seen when I want it to, so for it to be visible through a shirt would defeat the purpose. Also, during the summer I wear short sleeved vests which are thin and white, so I'm guessing it would definitely show through at least a little through that. So what do you guys think? If it will, then do you think I should go for this version instead? If I do go for the thinner version, would it be too 'thin', I suppose I could always get it blacked in

Get the solid color, broski. Leo represent!!

man, i haven't been in here and seen adam's tats for a while. i LOVE the new spidey man! Thanks man. I have a few other ideas I want to eventually get. 1. The Walking Dead Rick Grimes piece, which once I hear back from my artist in Lubbock, TX will be next up... possibly this month. 2. Another Tiger Army piece since I am sorta unhappy with my first, and their music means a lot to me. I'm waiting until I can take a vacation from work before I can get this (so it can heal), which'll be November at earliest. An old-school profile of a tiger's head with "TRUE" above it, and "ROMANCE" below it, a nod to my favorite song by them. Going to get it on the back of my right hand. 3. The circled X-Men "X" logo on one of my thumbs. Not looking forward to this. 4. The back of my left arm (same arm as my sugar skull/bomb/Spidey/etc) - from the wrist to the elbow, a Virgin Mary in Dia De Los Muertos make-up... not because I am Catholic or OVERLY religious, but because I do feel that religious art (specifically of the Catholic faith) just has a very romantic feel to it, and I just love the look. 5. SOMETHING related to Motorhead... Not really sure what, definitely waiting on this one for a while until I have an idea of something that I want to stick with for life. 6. A pin-up Rogue (X-Men) on the back of my right forearm, Jim Lee style in the yellow/green costume. ---And quick little note, my wrist hurt like a mother er to get tattooed. Was not enjoyable. At all.
