I was fairly happy with the pictures of the prototypes from Mattel until someone pointed out that other than the Elite figures, NONE OF THE FIGURES HAVE ANY LATERAL MOVEMENT IN THEIR LEGS!!! C'mon, Mattel! We can get articulation for lateral movement in 6 dollar Star Wars figures, but not $10 wrestling figures. I thought we had evolved beyond the days of figures like a Shawn Michaels who can't do a superkick because his legs only go back and forth. It's not the 90's anymore, Mattel, and you're not Jakks! The DC Universe figures have amazing leg articulation that doesn't hurt the sculpts at all--there's no reason these figures can't as well. I'll be buying the Elite figures because they also look awesome, but the lack of articulation in the main line is going to severely limit my spending on the basic and 2-pack figures.

The point of having the basic line and elite line is to have one substitute RA, and one for DA. Not everyone wants the figures to move like that. This way, we get both.

^ He stated it very well.
Well I don't care that much. People can just buy the elite figs.

Hence, the difference between basic and elite, among other things.

Kinda the point with having different series. I only display my figures so I don't need Shawn to do a superkick. Hence the reason I'm leaning towards the basic. It is no different then what we have been geting for years now...options!

I just don't understand. Why would you want a figure with LESS articulation when you can have it with more articulation without hurting the appearance at all?

I just don't understand. Why would you want a figure with LESS articulation when you can have it with more articulation without hurting the appearance at all? I personally like my figures to be like mini statues. The less joints the more realistic it looks. And the fact that they will (finally) be in scale will also help the appearance, drastically. Not to mention the display base that they will come with.

Basic line = a less expesive line which = less details/articulation. They are no different then RA's articulation. The Elite Series will have the added articulation & accessories = the higher price point.

I just don't understand. Why would you want a figure with LESS articulation when you can have it with more articulation without hurting the appearance at all? It's an arguable point, but, some would think RAs are a little easier to play with--not in the sense that you have to twist Shawn's waist to do a Super Kick--in the sense that DAs kind of flop around when you try to play with them. Some, not all, are very unsturdy, whereas RAs are very solid, and with a little imagination you can get around the leg movement. This is why I think it's important for Mattel to offer both lines. Some, like yourself, hate the RA articulation, while some don't mind it but prefer RA(me), and some love RAs and hate DAs... This way we all get what we want. And, unfortunately your stuck with the higher price point, but, DAs have always been more expensive, now, they're just better.

Yeah, DCUC has that kind of leg movement, and they're going to be $15 a pop starting with wave 11, just like Elite

I'm going to buy both. The basic I believe can only move their legs like RA, the Elite can open their legs. I don't see what the problem is, really. It's not like none of their legs open.
