The day that Jeremy decided to sign Tank Abbott, something in my gut knew that the series was on downfall. So many potential spots were given to people I didn't desire seeing get made, or to people who already were made, or to current wrestlers that could've very well gotten a regular release!
But something about that Tank signing, it was an omen. Once I saw he was getting releases in CS 15, I stopped cold turkey right there, I was tempted to get Lex but I held back.
Of course, then Jakks signed Sid, so I figured I might relent with my promise to myself.
Nope! In an astonishing move, Jakks completely ed up the figure! Sure the scan was nice, but a painted on elbow pad? No ing kneepads? Are your chinese laborers allowed to smoke opium when they assemble these ing things?
So CS16 was out.
Then Jakks tried to lure me in with the Bulldogs, and they looked VERY promising in the proto pics, reminded me of 1986 all over again.
Of course, we never got those figures, instead Jakks decided to insult our intelligence by sticking the long haired Davey Boy head on. So there's another $20 they missed.
Since then, I've kept up with looking but not buying, simply laughing at the idea of the LJN figures and the CS rereleases, such as Doink, which will NEVER surpass the awesomeness that was CS6. If you don't have a CS6 Doink, then you truly don't have Doink. You have a Keirn or Lombardi Doink, screw that! Same goes for Rock figures, the Rocky Maivia was simply the best.
It hasn't been ALL bad, I will say of the dozens of terrible figures, there have been a few that I did like; Sunny, Haku, Killer B's and Kona Crush. So I must give credit to Jakks for putting that diamond on top of a pile of dog crap.
I'm sorry to all of you that held hope for this line, I truly am. But I knew it was only a matter of time that it got bad, and it all started with Tank Abbott. For he was truly the straw the broke the camel's back and allowed for so many unwanted figures to get signed.
In the end;
No Adrian Adonis No Bobo Brazil No Carlos Colon No Dick the Bruiser No Dino Bravo No Dory Funk No Eddie Gilbert No Grand Wizard No Mil Mascaras No Ole Anderson No Owen Hart No Randy Savage No Ricky Steamboat No Sting No Von Erich's
The list goes on an on. And I WILL NOT accept "it wasn't possible" as an answer! WWE and Jakks are companies with the interest to sell PRODUCT. This line catered to the old school fans who grew up watching wrestling and allowed for them in a small way to relive the experience. When you put figures in the line that most people have no interest in getting or broaden the term for "classic", you water down what you set out to do. Again, this line was supposed to cater to the people who were old school, how ing old school is The Rock? It's not bad enough that he had 100's of generic figures made when he was carrying the WWF on his back, but when you litter the line with the same damn figures, how do you make up for it? What happened Jakks? Why didn't you have the balls to sign Steamboat? It's not like he's hard to ing find! He works for WWE for God's sake! And since Savage's DVD was in the works over a year ago, you had PLENTY of time to sign him, and he's not a hermit either, he's been active in making movies and going to premiers, all that jazz...so who not track his ass down? It was never about money with signing with him, that's an absolute lie! But nonetheless, it could've been a money train to sign him, as he was easily one of the most colorful guys to grace wrestling...so many potential figures. But no, gotta release 6 Rock figures...you know...like the time he wore...black trunks...and elbow pads.
But I digress, hope Jakks enjoys the TNA line, I don't see much potential there. I'll hold my tongue on UFC since I'm on the fence to see what sort of audience might buy those, since most kids under 14 don't watch UFC and the fact that UFC fighters don't have the characteristics like wrestlers do. But we'll see what happens.
One more thing, I will say that the Sherri is absolutely stunning. I feel for those who got cheated out of it (show us the protos anyways...really Jakks?). CS28 probably won't meet demand either, I find it funny that the Vader is "WWE attire with mask", which is EXACTLY how he came in CS8! Why not just dump him for Sherri? Who cares if people didn't pick him up in CS8? That's their problem, everyone else shouldn't have to suffer!
^Owen Hart, Randy Savage and Sting werent possible.
Why does the Warlord have a Powers of Pain head on his singles attire body?
Let me talk to ya! Retros Zombie Sailor Toys: Heels & Faces Chella: Wrestling Megastars Hastel: Grapplers & Gimmicks Rush: Ring Masters KWK: Kayfabe Heroes Championship Wrestling Figures
Why aren't they releasing Sherri's figures and why do we need another heel doink? Even though I missed the 1st one I'd rather buy that one. Looks like I'll be saving money

I just saw on ringside that the set has been pushed back until early november now. does this mean they may actually fix some of the figures up or am I just getting my hopes up?? it would be nice to have a new scan for warlord and the barbarian.

I don't think they will "fix" the figures, but they pushed back almost all of their new sets.

You're welcome, and I must say mate, great post there, everyone knows it's a matter of perspective when we talk about the CS line, but when you know that as soon as Tank Abbott was released into the line, that it truly signalled the end. I knew it also with CS20 when they took out the classic ECW Sandman, but didn't replace him with anybody.

I agree with most everything you said. I do feel everyone was possible (except for possibly Owen Hart). If they turn around produce another 200 different individual in a TNA CS line, I'll eat crow.
However the 3 guys i am sad they didn't produce were:
- Ricky Steamboat - Pedro Morales - Bobo Brazil
"JAKKS, Ringside, someone save us from our prototype hell!"
