I've collected WWE figures since the Slammers days. As each new style of figures came out, the predecessor went defunct. I mean, when TTL came out... the signature series and slammers lost value both in playability and collecting. It was the same when R3 came out. I finally took a hiatus after R3. It was too frustrating.
I mean, don't get me wrong. I love how they want to improve the product. But so much time, effort, and money get invested in these things.. then a whole new style comes out and you're back to square one.. hell even less than that because you're out some serious $$$ and time. I returned to collecting when RA lasted. Then the DA's came out. I'm glad they didn't stop RA... but DA frustrated me because the figures were more detailed on the head scans. But it wasn't enough to get me to crossover.
I personally love the RA style. They've released at least one decent figure of the most desired wrestlers out there (I'm sure many of you can disagree I just mean in general). They've made a Cell. A Chamber. A RSR. Plenty of weapons. It was all covered. And I spent a lot of money.
Even if Mattel released the best damn figures we've ever seen (very doubtful but you never know), I just can't put forth the time and money again. For those that do... I really hope you get a quality product. After all these changes, it has to plateau at some point. I thought it was finally at RA... but I was wrong. We'll see what Mattel is really made of... and we'll also see how hard Jakks really tried...

Really looking forward to see what Mattel will bring. I think a change will be good. No more re-paint after re-paint just good quality figs and belts and hopefully a stage we can be proud of.

I'm totally giving away my age, but the first figures I bought were LJN WWF. I had some of the Remcos too, they were mostly sold at K-Mart and drug stores. I've never collected to get all of a type of figure, but I was really more interested in buying the ones I thought were neat looking. As a kid my brothers knew way more about wrestling than I did, I just thought they were cool boy's toys. The first Hasbros I bought were Jake the Snake and Demolition Smash and my younger brother was like "Why the Hel1 didn't you get Axe !!!?!!" and I was like, "who?" lol. It's funny now. I also buy figs when they're a good deal too. Down here in Florida we have alot of flea markets and I've gotten whole collections for less than a dollar per figure. I've also been pretty lucky in finding certain ones. I actually have every figure I've ever wanted to get. I have almost completed all the LJN's except for the final series. I have all the WCW Galoob and bendies, all the WWF Hasbros and I do mean all, even the variants. I have all the WCW Toybiz, all the TNA Toybiz, most of the OSFTM WCW and ECW figures. A huge run of the BCA figures, all the first figures of anyone. Most of my TTL's I've customized, unless that was the only figure they made of the person. With the exception of Hardcore Holly, for some reason I love that TTL figure. I think because I had a little Holly family diorama I made with Crash and Molly and all that hardcore backstage thing they made. I love the RAs and DA's, but wasn't a big fan of the R3 Tech, although I did buy a few of them, and some, like the Hardy Boyz, I thought were really good figures. With the mattels though, I will really have to see how they turn out. Of course, I know that I'll buy any new characters or first time figures. I'll also probably buy ones like Rey Mysterio or Triple H. It seemed from that interview with the Mattel guy that scale was going to play a really big part in their WWE line. So if that's the case and these are amazing, I might switch out and put the old ones in storage. I never sell any of my figures, but I do have alot that are put away.

In a way I'll be mad if Mattel outdoes Jakks because it will take several years and money to make a good collection again (all the gimmick matches and different wrestlers)... already had to reboot after Slammers, TTL, R3... not again dammit.

I'm banking on them being similar to the RA, so I can just put them with my RA. If they are better, I might want the Mattel version of a wrestler, but I don't think Mattel will be making my fav figures again like Ultimo Dragon and other past WWE stars.

Guess it depends on how much effort they put in cuz you never know the 1st batch of figures can look good and the next can be total sh**

After only seeing the test shots Mattel is going to blow Jakks away. But there is always going to be at least one person who won't like the new style, but I think once Mattel releases the figure in January every buyer will be satisfied.

As a figure collecting nut (started back with the LJNs) I can honestly say I won't be collecting Mattel's product. Jakks has done a tremendous job and have kept the WWE license for a longer time that any other company. They have been making WWE figure for over a decade as they started in 1996. I don't see Mattel keeping the license longer than 5 years, and then everyone who converted to Mattel will be in the same boat us that currently collect Jakks are in. The Classic line will probably be the most comprhensive collection EVER made which is why it is the main thing I collect. I will however buy a few select Mattel figures such as the first series just to have a few in my collection. I am kinda glad as I will have a ton of extra cash now that I won't be spending $100 + a month on figures.

I think I'll be getting them all. The only other time I've been seriously collecting at the start of a new line is when BnBs came out last year, and I love getting the new series' of them. I'll be the same with Mattel's WWE figures. I can't wait!
