Smackdown opened with pyrotechnics as the chairman of the board,Mr.McMahon, opened the show. He first talked about Wisconsin being the cheese country. Barely audible due to crowd noise. Mr.McMahon then proceeded to say he smell a stench, and asked if we know where that stench is coming from. He said each one of us is afraid, afraid of losing our jobs and and said it is the stench of fear, of losing our jobs. He said he has proudly fired many people over the years. With that, he called out the General Manager Theodore Long. As the two met in the ring, Mr. McMahon asked him what is in the store for tonight. Teddy said he is getting excited about Smackdown and tonight, there will be a Rage in the Cage. Mr. McMahon looked a little displeased. He said he hoped that is not all. Teddy said it will feature a special guest referee, CM Punk. Mr. McMahon looked more displeased and put Teddy Long on probation. Segment ended as R-Truth's music hit and R-Truth came out, singing What's Up. As he went past Mr. McMahon, he asked Mr. McMahon "What's Up". His intro music went a little long, I assume we will cut to our first commercial break.
As we go back from our commercial break, Shelton Benjamin makes his way out. He has a microphone and stood at the edge of the ramp and said he can't believe they have to do this again. Shelton cut another good promo saying if he wants the truth, the truth is he has more education than R-Truth. With that, Shelton got in the ring, match started between the two. Typical match, R-Truth wins over Shelton.
A backstage promo between Teddy Long, Mr. McMahon and Rey Mysterio. Very hard to hear, basically Rey 'one-upped' Mr. McMahon.
Divas action, Michelle McCool & Alicia Fox b. Melina & Gail Kim. Spotted sign guy in the crowd holding this sign "Westminster Club Groomed Own Michelle".
No Dolph Ziggler in action on Smackdown this week but match is announced against Great Khali Sunday at the Bash. No Great Khali in action, either. Both him and Ranjin Singh were backstage.
John Morrison is up next, his intro music ran long so in TV, we will cut to a commercial break. CM Punk is up, what a great match-up between the two. Lasted around 15 minutes of technical wrestling and there were several attempts of hitting GTS. Morrison got a clean pin over CM Punk who is left dazzled in the ring. After the match, they both are still in the ring. CM Punk extends his hand, Morrison accepts and shake Punk's hand and immediately Punk puts him on Go To Sleep and goes on a "I have got IED" character with a look of disbelief as Punk looked at Morrison.
There was a backstage interview segment, Josh Matthews with Chris Jericho. Matthews asked Jericho on his obsession of taking off Mysterio's mask, Jericho cut his "I will save him" promo.
After both announcers stepped inside the ring and hyped up the Bash, it is time! Cage is getting lowered, and we will be going to commercial break because it gets stuck on the steel post and the crew ran to lower it further down. Jeff Hardy is up first, followed by Mysterio. Jericho and then Edge. Rey is worked upon for the longest part of the match, there were three close occasions where he almost tagged in Jeff but was dragged back. In the closing stages of the match, Edge goes for a spear but accidentally spears CM Punk. Edge got a clean pin. After the match, CM Punk stood outside the cage, Hardy is inside the cage looking out. Punk holds up the belt, Hardy looks on as I believe we go off the air.
Off-air notes: Steel cage is still lowered around the ring. Punk makes his way inside the cage as Hardy looks on. Punk says that he respects Jeff Hardy but the fact is, CM Punk is the better man. Jeff says something and immediately drops the mic, gives Punk a Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb off the top rope. He leaves to his music.
Justin Roberts says goodbye to Milwaukee. Kind of disappointed with only 4 matches being taped this week. No dark match this week.
