Special thanks to our good friend Aaron Rift for the following results:
I attended tonight's WWE Smackdown/ECW tapings are here is a recap of the show:
Not only was the upper deck curtained off, but a few lower levels were curtained off as well. I would say there were around 7,000 fans in the building and it was easily the smallest crowd I have ever seen for a WWE TV taping at Staples Center.
Dark Match:
Sheamus (SOS) defeated Jimmy Wang Yang. He looked decent but needs a tan badly.
WWE Superstars: (Airing Thursday)
In a match taped for Superstars, John Cena pinned Ted DiBiase. I actually thought this match was the best one of either night and DiBiase impressed me.
Dark Match:
Prior to Smackdown, Randy Orton retained the WWE title against Batista in a cage match. It only went about five minutes until Ted DiBiase got involved which allowed Orton to climb over. After the match, Batista laid out DiBiase and posed for fans. Batista was very over with the kids.
WWE SmackDown: (Airing Friday)
Smackdown kicked off with a Rey Mysterio promo which was interrupted by Chris Jericho. Jericho vowed to rip off Rey's mask. Mickey Rourke was at ringside and Jericho spoke to him briefly.
R-Truth and The Great Khali beat Mike Knox and Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler walked out of the match and Khali pinned Knox with his tree slam. Khali did the "What's up" on the mic and danced with R-Truth which the crowd loved. The match itself was horrible.
Melina defeated Alecia Fox.
Jeff Hardy did an in-ring promo hyping up Extreme Rules.
John Morrison defeated Umaga by DQ when Umaga used a strap that he brought down to ringside. There were lots of "boring" chants and this match seemed to go on forever. Umaga tied up Morrison with the strap but then CM Punk made the save.
CM Punk then cut a promo in the ring hyping up Extreme Rules.
WGTT beat Cryme Tyme. This was another dull match.
Eve beat Layla.
The main event was going to be Chris Jericho and Edge vs. Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio. As Mysterio was coming to the ring, he was attacked by a masked "fan" who ended up being Jericho. Jericho nearly got the mask off and Mysterio had to be carried out of the arena.
Hardy agreed to wrestle a handicapped match which Edge and Jericho eventually won. Edge attacked Jeff with a ladder afterwards to end Smackdown.
Edge reminded Hardy that a cage match was advertised, so the cage was lowered and Edge pinned Hardy with a spear immediately. Great marketing by WWE to sucker people in!
Dark Match:
John Cena defeated Big Show in a short cage match to send the fans home happy.
