Id like to thank all of you that participated in this event. Sorry its not spectacular but RD 3 will be the best show I have done yet Its already stacked and set to go and I promise there will be better quality graphics and hype wise.... I would also like to congradulate GCS on a flawless dominating victory. Not as if I had a chance if I had tried harder but I just made this one as a simple addition to my collection that fit the stip...  Works for me... |

NOW THAT IS HILARIOUS...2 times in a row me and GCS make the same thing...
I had had my custom on my myspace for about month now so for anyone that asks NO I DID NOT HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT GATE WAS GOING TO MAKE.
anyways good job to everyone who actually participated. Jay, I was going to attempt a Randy the Ram..but after seeing yours I don't think there is any topping that. That thing is f***ing flawless..you included the scars..tattoos..everything. That thing is just beautiful. Great job man, seriously I don't know where you have been hiding but I am glad you finally came back to customizing and have been coming back stong with Shelton, Macho Man, and now this. Really amazing job.
Famousj it looks really nice. The paintjob is flawless but I wish you made him look a little more beaten up his face and body almost look too clean for Mickey Rourke. I love the hair and the tights though.
I would give this one to Jay though.
Good job to NYDream. That thing is very nice and captures Diego before he became a maniac. Because when he was in the ultimate fighter he was weird but he wasn't as psycho as he is now and you got a perfect head choice for him IMO. The skintone is very nice and clean and evenly applied. Very smooth. The only thing I don't like is the tattoo...

Gate wins very clean ,Dream very sloppy and boring sorrry man wrong head choice also.
Sand man not bad looks good only prob I see is chin is a little too big.
Jay & Famous J , too close to call both heads look exact ,Im gonna chose Jays simply because of color choice and slightly more detail.

I agree with you mega for the first time... Not that the outcome would have been different at all but I did not take this seriously at all.... I figured why work hard at this match when I have no chance at winning it. So I did a simple custom and didnt make it as neat as I could have or didnt work as hard as I could have because I figured why waste the time? But I will be bringing better work at rd 3 for sure... Cant wait!!

Yea I announced that that match was removed from the card.. He turned his in lae and I had problems with mine also so the match was removed. I wasnt going to delay the show for a match that was just for fun....

Great job to everybody that posted. Sandy, your Mero looks really good, The head is a little off, but works quite well. Dream, Sanchez looks nicely done. It's a little rough in places but the attention to detail is there. I think the head worked nicely. Gate, everything is flawless except the head. The eyes are painted too far apart and gives him wall eyes, and I just don't like the face choice either. Hair looks good though. Jay, the face to me only vaguely looks like him but the figure overall is nearly flawless. It really captures the rough, beat up look he had. FamousJ, the face looks just like Mickey to me, though not as scarred up and what not. Paint job and sculpting looks great. I haven't seen the movie yet, and can only go on what pictures I have seen and a few clips. As for my figure, here are more pics for those who care.    |

Dream: you have a lot more talent than you showed here, as has been discussed. That being said, still not a bad custom. the head is a good choice, you just need to clean up some rough spots.
GCS: Very clean all around and from what I have seen, the likeness is there. The abs could have been toned down a little, but that is extrememly minor. Great job. You got my vote.
Jay: Really good looking figure. you captured the grittiness of the character very well. The scar and tattoos are all great touches and show your attention to detail. My only problem is the facial resemblance is not quite there, and the hair sculpt could be better. This is going to be a tough one to call.
FamousJ. Wow. This figure is just amazingly clean and, I have to say that the head is just about dead on but perhaps a little large. No big deal though. The hair sculpt is beautiful as well. It looks like you thought outside the Jakks box in terms of part choice which worked out wonderfully. The only thing missing that I can see, is the scar. Other than that, it's pretty much perfect. While both figures are great, I believe famousJ's is near flawless, so my vote goes to him.
To sum it up: GCS and famousJ.
As for the non-competition figures:
Sandman, it looks great. Good detail on the tights and everything, but the paint seems a little thick at the leg joints. The head is great, but could use a little less chin. That is a very minor problem though and doesn't really take away from the likeness. The tassels could have maybe benefited from using ribbon or something apposed to scultping. Overall though, it is a very good, very accurate figure. Nice job.
Gonzo: Overall a good figure. The painting and scultping looks good on the shorts and the chest hair is a nice touch. The lower legs look awesome. That is a flaw with a lot of DA MMA figures because the sanding is sometimes sub par, but your looks super smooth. The skin tone is also very true to life. My only gripe would have to be the head. The hair looks sort of like a helmet because it is too uniformed looking. It could use more sweeping curls and a messy sort of look, and the beard appears to be glued on. It should be sort of blended into the face where beard meets skin. Other than those minor things, it is really a great figure and does justice to a great fighter who had a lot of demons.

Nice round, great work from everyone!
Diego Sanchez looks good and clean, as expected from a huge MMA fan like NYdream. However, I would had this match to Gate's Marc Mero. Nice detail and overall look of the figure. I like the head too.
These Randy the Ram customs are fantastic. While I love both customizers and their Randy customs are both top notch, I will give the edge to Jay. Nice work with the heart scar, the belly button, pads, even the shoe laces. Excellent job. I would also want to recognize FamousJ's efforts. Great figure too, and the face looks like Mickey Rourke! I like both, but I'd pick Jay.

Everything is really great! It's hard making choices with these. The Randy customs are both amazing and was really hard to choose being that both of these customizers are so clean with their work. FamousJ's works since he didn't have the scar during the whole movie, so I can't dock points for that. The head looks just like Rourke and the paint work is very impressive. I think Jay's doesn't look exactly like Rourke, but it's really good and I like the complexity of the outfit and tattoos he did. My votes are for GCS and Jay..

Sandman -- This head looks pretty good, but as others have mentioned, the chin is too long, it should be sharper. Nice job going for the mullet look, I think the front part is a bit high, but looks pretty good. Not sure why you chose skinnier arms, I don't really like that decision. The painting looks pretty good, a little thick in places. The sculpting around the kneepads looks overall bulky. I know I pointed out a lot of flaws, but as a whole I actually like this quite a bit.
Nydream -- this isn't that good, and you know it. It's unfortunate, really. The painting on the shorts is just really sloppy. I know you can do better, so there's no need for me to tell you how. I do think the skintone looks nice and the head choice is pretty good though I think a little goatee would've helped the likeness, but I understand if you were going off of a fight where he didn't have it.
Gate -- The painting is silky smooth as always, and the kneepad area in particular looks really nice. The hair seems too straight, I don't know if you sculpted it or if this is a head, but it could use some more texture. Skintone is really nice.
Winner: Gate
Jay -- Your style of customizing is perfectly suited for this custom. The kind of thick sculpting and dirty-ish painting really captures the feel of Randy. And I'm so glad you chose these tights. And pulled them off so well! The boots look awesome. Now, the head is a toss up. I do like the hair, but I think the face doesn't have that much of a likeness. It's maybe too rough. And the hair being sculpted into the torso is interesting to me... it looks better than floating, but if you're committing to that you might as well make it sculpted, right? Scar and tattoos look awesome.
FamousJ -- The face and hairline look awesome. And the rest is very clean, but I think in this case clean doesn't cut it. I wish the front half of the head was in Jay's custom, too be honest. It just doesn't bring out the character as much as as Jay's.

Ok, I was reading the argument between gate and sandman before i looked at these so i was interested to see the mero customs. Gotta say that i am very surprised. I think i might go start an argument with mickey mantle about how he had bad form when he swung the bat. Sandy, I guess I can see some likeness in the mouth area....
Gate, obviously very clean and looks like I just opened it out of a Jakks box.
Dream, pretty plain attire and figure. The head shows pretty good resemblance though. Definitely some shaky lines on the tights
Jay vs Famousj is a great match. At first glance, Jay's presentation really grabs your eye and makes you think it's the better custom, but breaking everything down, I think famousj's is superior in every way. The head on Jay's looks a lot like hhh. Famousj's looks like mickey freaking rourke. I've never seen such an amazing resemblance. Torso sculpting and skintone looks as smooth as can be and the tights designs are perfect. even the boots on fj's blow the other out of the water. The only advantage Jay has is that he chose the flashier tights, which is apparently enough to sway the votes of people who just glanced at them. Gotta go with famous all the way

My vote goes to Gate and Famous J. Jay's Ram is absolutely perfect but Famous J knows how to capture the ressemblance of the guy, however several details are missing. Great PPV so far!!
