PRESS RELEASE
***FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27TH 2009***
In 2002, the Pic Fed world was buzzing with a huge variety of federations churning out brand new shows on a weekly basis, with a huge fan following. Also in 2002, the birth of one of the most well known, controversial and most watched Pic Feds in history turned the community around.
CFW, known then as Championship Figure Wrestling was a new fed with an old school feel. While many companies where pushing lower ranking Superstars, CFW stuck to the big names and created a recognizable roster featuring Superstars such as The Rock, Steve Austin, Triple H and The Undertaker battling it out on a weekly basis - the only fed in history to air shows weekly for it’s first and second seasons.
In 2004, the picture fed community slowly began to lose steam, along with it, CFW. After Seven seasons of ’SmackDown’ and 7 PPV events, CFW closed it’s doors for what was believed to be the very last time…
…This was until 2006. In the hot Summer of that year, CFW made a triumphant return under the new, more fitting name of Championship Fury Wrestling. Losing the wording ’Figure’ to bring the federation up to date. The show returned and gained momentum, also losing the SmackDown show branding and starting Season 8 with ‘Saturday Night Live’. However, Season 8 lasted for a mere 4 episodes before the company again, ran out of fuel.
Today though, we can announce that the fuel is once again burning as a gigantic fire has been lit. Mr. McMahon, CFW Chairman has announced the return of CFW for a staggering NINTH season beginning this spring with a PPV event, The Rising. This will mark the first time CFW has kicked off a season in such a way. As far as talent goes, CFW Entertainment is pleased to announce that Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H are just a few of the names that have agreed to return for CFW’s 2009 return.
Also, for the first time, CFW will be broadcast in FLASH:HD to bring our fans event closer to the action! Check back soon for more details.
