May 10th, 2010 | Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Monday night Raw opens with the usual video package, this one focusing on last week’s main event pitting Shane McMahon against Chris Jericho and the post match brawl between those two, Edge and John Cena.
In a surprising start to Raw, we are joined by “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus. He is sporting a smile as he steps through the ropes. He says that it’s pretty obvious that he is happy and it should also be obvious why he’s happy. In case we missed it last week, he takes us to the video of his brutal assault on The Undertaker last week. He then says that he did what Ted Dibiase was going to pay him to do, but as he previously stated, he doesn’t need nor want the money. It’s all about making a name for yourself and he truly did that last week. All the talk recently has been about how he took out The Undertaker worse than anyone before him. Surprisingly, Mr. McMahon comes out to the stage. He says that he usually doesn’t get involved in these matters because that’s what the General Managers are there for, but he feels compelled to step in here. Mr. McMahon has decided that at Extreme Rules, Sheamus can put his money where his mouth is as he’ll be going one on one with The Undertaker! Sheamus looks rather calm and he actually looks at Mr. McMahon and says “thank you.” Mr. McMahon is taken aback by his reaction and leaves as the camera shows Sheamus smiling.
Commercial Break
Michael Cole informs us that tonight’s main event will be a non-title match between WWE Champion Edge and Mr. Money in the Bank, Kofi Kingston!
Divas Championship: Michelle McCool defeated Maryse [c] & Mickie James This was a competitive Divas bout as all three women fought hard to either capture or retain the Divas Title. Maryse has really improved in the ring during this reign, but after nearly seven months it came to an end tonight. The finish came when Maryse delivered the French TKO to the back of James’ head, only to turn around into a big boot from McCool. McCool lifted James and planted her with the Faith Breaker to win.
Michelle McCool celebrated with the belt as her return is now a successful one. She antagonizes the crowd, which was already booing her, as she smugly walks up the ramp hoisting the Divas Title in the air.
We now cut to the back where Chris Jericho is in his locker room preparing for his tag team match tonight. In steps Alberto Del Rio, who is Jericho’s partner for tonight. He introduces himself to Chris and says that he’s proud to have him as a partner because he feels that Jericho emits the amount of class that he does. Jericho says that he would have to agree and suggests that Del Rio has a bright future ahead of him.
Commercial Break
John “Bradshaw” Layfield is in his office when we return and Edge barges into his locker room. He complains that Kofi Kingston should not be given a match with him tonight. JBL says that they had an exciting series of matches on Smackdown at the end of last year and he’d be stupid not to cash in on that ability. Edge says that their match tonight could open the window for Kofi to cash in Money in the Bank on him. JBL admits that Edge knows more about that than anybody, but feels that he needs to suck it up and just go out there. Edge storms out, visibly upset.
Justin Angel defeated Evan Bourne Tonight, we witnessed the debut of Justin Angel. Nobody expected him to win as he was not given an entrance and was already in the ring when we cut back to the arena. He surprised everyone but putting on a fast paced, exciting contest with Bourne. He matched WWE’s top high-flier in an impressive showing and got the 1-2-3 after nailing an awesome 450 splash!
Angel received a great hand for his performance as he celebrated. Evan Bourne got up and shook hands with Angel, before raising his arm in the air in a great show of sportsmanship.
Commercial Break
We return to see Josh Matthews standing by with Raw’s newest tag team, the Usos. He asks them about their attack on Paul London, Brian Kendrick and the Jung Dragons last week. Jules answers and says that last week they made a statement. The statement was a simple one as they’re out to prove that they’re future WWE World Tag Team Champions. Jimmy says they come from a family of past Tag Team Champions including the Headshrinkers, The Rock and their own father, Rikishi. It’s in their blood to be Champions.
Much like the segment we saw with Del Rio and Jericho earlier tonight, we got one from MVP and John Cena. They reminisced about their classic SummerSlam match where MVP won the WWE Championship. Even with that in their past, they respect each other and are friends, and as Cena claims, that will make them a tough team to beat.
Before the commercial break, Ashley Valance is backstage with the Intercontinental Champion, Elijah Burke. She asks him for his thoughts about tonight’s match between Dolph Ziggler and Mr. Kennedy where the winner receives a Title shot. Burke says that he’s had many wars with Mr. Kennedy, including one a few weeks back for the Intercontinental Title, and he respects the hell out of him. But Dolph is a different story. He’s made a habit of attacking him from behind and gunning for Burke’s belt, and to be honest, he would love to “pimp slap” Ziggler with or without the Title on the line.
Commercial Break
John Cena & MVP defeated Alberto Del Rio & Chris Jericho For just his second match in the WWE, Del Rio got involved with the brand’s major stars and to be honest, he more than held his own. He showed that he will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years. The heels cut the ring in half and really worked over MVP for most of the match. He managed to make the hot tag to Cena, who cleaned house and especially gunned for Jericho. He picked up Jericho for the FU, but Del Rio blind tagged in. He dropped Jericho with the FU, but when Del Rio went to hit him from behind, MVP drilled him with a big boot. Cena then planted him with the FU for the win.
Commercial Break
Shane McMahon’s theme hits as Edge’s opponent for Extreme Rules comes out to join us. He grabs a microphone and begins to re-tell his history with Edge. It started once he was named Co-General Manager of Smackdown and he evened things out because Edge got everything handed to him by Vickie Guerrero. They butted heads until Edge Speared him on The Cutting Edge, which led to a brutal series of matches, the final one ending in the vicious chair shots that put him in the hospital for months. Every day that he was out, all he could think about was getting revenge on Edge and that will finally happen at Extreme Rules. He will defeat Edge, he will injure Edge and he will take what he loves most in this world, the WWE Title, from him. Surprisingly, Kofi Kingston’s theme hits as he gets in the ring with Shane. He tells Shane that he has nothing but respect for the boss’ son, especially after seeing some of the crazy things that Shane has done in the past. He also agrees with everything Shane said tonight except for one little thing. In his mind, Shane won’t be taking the WWE Title from Edge at Extreme Rules because after he beats Edge in a non-title match tonight, he plans on cashing in his Money in the Bank contract and winning the WWE Title! The crowd goes crazy at this announcement and Shane looks impressed. He tells Kofi that if he cashes in tonight, he’d enjoy it because it would cause Edge pain and he wishes Kofi the best of luck. Suddenly, Edge rushes down the ramp and attempts to Spear Shane, but Kofi pushes him out of the way and jumps clean over Edge. Edge rams into the turnbuckle and Kofi goes for Trouble in Paradise, but Edge slips out of the ring holding his shoulder. The announcers put over how if Kofi connected with Trouble in Paradise he could’ve cashed in right then and there.
Commercial Break
Dolph Ziggler defeated Mr. Kennedy to become number one contender for the Intercontinental Title This was a tightly contested, back and forth battle that once again showcased how good Raw’s mid-card is since the Draft. Ziggler focused on Kennedy’s back throughout the match, while Kennedy was targeting Ziggler’s neck. Kennedy went for the Green Bay Plunge in the end, but Dolph slipped off and connected with the Zig Zag, earning a surprisingly clean victory.
Backstage, Michelle McCool is shown in her locker room polishing the Divas Championship with Layla London, who congratulates McCool and they talk as if they’re best friends. Layla says that she’s so happy for Michelle, and Michelle suggests that they should start teaming up soon. Layla loves the idea and the pair hug.
Commercial Break
Evan Bourne is shown in the back, talking with Justin Angel. He congratulates him on a very impressive debut and says that he sees a lot of himself in Angel. Angel thanks him and says he looks up to guys like Evan Bourne who made it far despite his size. Bourne thanks him and they walk off, continuing to talk.
The Usos defeated Brian Kendrick & Paul London In their first ever Raw match, the sons of Rikishi looked very impressive. They utilized an offense that included moves from their family members, as well as some original stuff. Of course London and Kendrick were their usual exciting selves, hitting multiple high flying moves. Not to be outdone, Jules nailed a big top rope headbutt on Kendrick. The finish came when Jimmy tossed Kendrick right into a Samoan Drop from Jules.
Kofi Kingston and Edge are shown walking to the ring on a split screen, and Edge still seems to be favoring his shoulder from earlier tonight.
Commercial Break
Kofi Kingston defeated WWE Champion Edge in a non-title match Thanks to their great series of matches late last year on Smackdown, these two had some great chemistry and once again put on a fantastic match here. Kingston made sure to target Edge’s shoulder, especially when he hit a single arm DDT. Edge took control after a cheap poke to the eyes behind the referee’s back. He worked over Kofi for a few minutes until he began to set up for the Spear. He went for it but Kofi dodged it and Edge crashed into the turnbuckle. Kofi rolled him up and got the shocking 1-2-3!
The crowd celebrated along with Kofi, who went to the outside. He grabbed his Money in the Bank briefcase and told the referee that he was going to cash in. The referee hands it to the time keeper, but when Kofi gets back into the ring, he’s drilled with a huge Spear. Edge goes to the outside, gets his WWE Title and retreats up the ramp. Kofi’s cash in attempt doesn’t count since the bell never rung, but Edge escapes tonight with his Title. As he’s leaving up the ramp though, Shane McMahon’s theme hits. Edge slowly turns towards the entrance and is met with a big Lou Thez Press. Shane and Edge brawl all the way to the backstage area as Raw goes off the air.

WWE RAW: Monday 10th May 2010...Sheamus opening up the show is a bit fresh, good promo with him tallking of the attack on The Undertaker. Sheamus doesn't need money? Bit of an alternative personality from Sheamus. Mr McMahon appearing was great, got to wonder what stipulation Sheamus and Undertaker will have. Hopefully you don't rush into a gimmick match, seriously. Weak opening contest but it got the job done with the WWE Divas Championship change. I want to see some interaction with Maryse and Michelle McCool now McCool's champion. Mickie James, wonder where she fits into this. Alright, while Justin Angel debuting against Evan Bourne is nice, it made Bourne look a little ridiculous losing to a rookie, and secondly Angel I don't think has too much a future on RAW. He doesn't fit in with everybody. I see him and Bourne teaming before long. John Cena and MVP is a nice team, bit forward for Alberto Del Rio in my mind. At least you're not putting Del Rio on the undefeated streak. I do dislike Cena and MVP just putting Del Rio down ultimately cleanly though. Liked how Del Rio was paired with Chris Jericho though. Shane McMahon's promo got the job done really. Liked Kofi Kingston's interruption, but that would be a weak main event. Glad to see Dolph Ziggler gain contention to the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Mr Kennedy, the clean finish wasn't so characteristic of Ziggler at all. The Usos beating Paul London and Brian Kendrick: Kendrick and London's time in the sun is over. Hmm, this pair is not the only superstars to debut tonight. Maybe too much. Kofi Kingston beating Edge...great match, but it was a weak main event to me. A decent show, but RAW is lacking some serious star power.

Tonight’s ECW opens with a video package showing the announcement that John Morrison will be facing Ezekiel Jackson at Extreme Rules for the ECW Title. It also showed clips of the tag team main event where Morrison and Kaval defeated Carlito and Jackson in a tag team match.
Television Championship: Joe Hennig defeated Charlie Haas & Zack Ryder [c] w/ Courtney Our broadcast officially opened with a Triple Threat match for the Television Title, which delivered as a good contest. Haas and Hennig continue to show good chemistry and Ryder played the role of the sneaky Superstar. He stayed out of the way and tried to sneak in and get a cheap pin. Haas and Hennig both managed to prevent that. In the end, with Haas down from a Ruff Ryder he took moments before, Ryder and Hennig went at it. Hennig won the battle and nailed the PerfectPlex for the victory!
Joe Hennig celebrated with the Television Title as the crowd was excited to see the belt away from Zack Ryder. Charlie Haas got up and shook hands with Joe Hennig, while Ryder stormed off with Courtney looking very upset.
Commercial Break
ECW returns to see Drew McIntyre making his way down to the ring, dressed in a suit. He gets inside the ring and says that over the past week, he has gotten a load of hate mail from angry members of the WWE Universe. He directs us to the titantron for footage of why he’s gotten the hate mail. It shows how he was disqualified last week for brutally hitting Bryan Danielson with a steel chair as he attempted to hit a suicide dive. The camera focuses back on McIntyre and he has a huge grin on his face. He says that he came out here tonight to explain himself. The chair shot wasn’t just done to prevent a suicide dive, it was done to prove a point. When the Draft came all of the talk on ECW should’ve been about him, but instead people spoke of Danielson. McIntyre says that he’s old news and shouldn’t be taking up the spotlight when he’s nothing compared to the future WWE Champion that McIntyre is. He proved, in one shot, that he could take out Danielson and he’s willing to do it again if Danielson comes back and wants more.
Commercial Break
Kaval defeated Chris Masters Since his return in mid-2009, Masters has improved in the ring and it showed once again here tonight. Kaval proved to be too quick though as his speed really had Masters dazed and confused at times. Masters attempted the Masterlock several times as he knew Kaval couldn’t break it, but he wriggled free each time before it was fully locked on. Kaval then picked up the win following the Warrior’s Way.
Theodore Long is backstage in his office when Zack Ryder and Courtney barge in. Zack demands that Long reverse the decision from earlier tonight. Long asks why would he do that and Zack says because his fans, the “Zack Pack”, demand it. Long says that regardless of what this “Zack Pack” thinks, the decision is final and Joe Hennig is Television Champion. He does grant Ryder a rematch next week on ECW though. Zack still isn’t happy but says that will have to do.
Commercial Break
Ashley Valance is backstage with John Morrison. She asks him how he’s preparing for his ECW Title match at Extreme Rules. Morrison says that he thinks he has one of the best training regimens in all of the WWE and he’ll be training extra hard because he knows what’s at stake. As for his match with Carlito tonight, he knows that beating a guy like him should go a long way to gaining momentum for Extreme Rules.
Wade Barrett defeated Primo Much like last week, Barrett went up against a solid worker, but again, the end result was never in doubt. Primo utilized his high flying based offense to weaken Barrett and he even racked up a near fall after a springboard dropkick. Shortly thereafter though, Barrett put him down for the count with the Wasteland.
Josh Matthews is standing by with Carlito and he says that Carlito demanded this interview time. Carlito says that he wanted to speak on three topics. The first is to tell Kaval that he is not done with him by a long shot. They are going to meet again and Carlito promises to come out on top. Next, he addresses Ezekiel Jackson. He tells the ECW Champion that walking out on him last week was not cool and he will regret what he did. Finally, he guarantees to beat John Morrison tonight and prove that he should’ve been given the ECW Title shot.
We now see the ECW Champion, Ezekiel Jackson, walking through the backstage area. It looks like he’ll be coming to ringside for the upcoming main event.
Commercial Break
A promo is aired for a soon to be debuting superstar, Alex Riley. He comes across as very cocky and arrogant in the video, and he’s sporting a letter jacket. He calls himself the “Varsity Villain” and says that soon he’ll be taking the ECW roster to school.
Joe Hennig is now shown in the back with his newly won Television Title. Charlie Haas enters and once again congratulates Joe, telling him that he’s more than earned this moment and he likes the new attitude Hennig has shown. Joe thanks him and says that anytime Charlie wants a shot, he’d be glad to give it to him. Suddenly, Haas is attacked from behind by Zack Ryder with a steel chair. Ryder swings at Joe, but he ducks and Ryder quickly heads out of the room. Hennig goes to chase him but decides to check on Haas instead.
Ezekiel Jackson’s theme hits as the current ECW Champion comes down to the ring and goes to the commentator’s table.
Commercial Break
John Morrison defeated Carlito Considering the athletic abilities of these two guys, you knew this would be all about the high flying moves and it was. Both men put on a showcase through the air and were extremely impressive. Morrison ducked Carlito’s springboard back elbow and Morrison quickly hit his springboard kick for a near fall. He called for the Starship Pain, but Carlito got up and stopped him by nailing him on the back once he got to the top. Carlito then jumped high and delivered a huge Back Stabber while Morrison was perched on the top. He covered but Morrison shocked the world by placing his foot on the bottom rope. Carlito was outraged and he argued with the official. That allowed Morrison to get up and connect with the Moonlight Drive for the win.
Morrison celebrated and Ezekiel Jackson got up from the table. He entered the ring and stared down Morrison. Carlito was now up and grabbed his apple. He spit it right in the face of Jackson! That was a big mistake as Ezekiel planted him with the Book of Ezekiel. Once he hit that though, Morrison nailed him with a springboard kick, followed by a shot to the head with the ECW Title that took Jackson over the ropes and to the outside. The crowd went nuts for Morrison as ECW went off the air.

-Happy that Ryder got a decent run as champion. Hennig winning is the right call. -McIntyre and Bryan could have a very decent feud. Looking forward to it. -Kaval over Masters was the right call as Kaval has gotten the better push. -Barrett over Primo was the right call too to keep his push going. -Morrison and Carlito is always great in my mind. Jackson's attack on Carlito and Morrison standing tall was good. Hope he wins the ECW Championship. -Solid show; would be pretty hard to squeeze that all in in just like 45 minutes.

Hot start to the show with the television championship being on the line. I am very pleased to see Hennig getting the gold, I am expecting an eventual feud between him and Haas after some form of a split up, though, which could actually make Haas more credible. Nice little promo from Drew McIntyre about his assault on Danielson. They could actually have a pretty decent feud here. Easily the right decision to have Kaval over Masters, would of been quite bad the other way around. Like that Ryder is getting his rematch next week, but I highly doubt he'll win it back. Would be quite surprising if he did. Basic squash for Barrett over Primo. I see Primo going into the nothingness eventually. Carlito wanting to get put into the title picture is good for him, but I don't see it happening. Pretty sweet to see A-Ri being called up; would of liked to see him on Smackdown more, though. Adding a bit of heat with Ryder/Hennig, I do think there may be a little too much of it this show. Best, obvious decision to put Morrison over Carlito. Like that Jackson took out the non-important factor in Carlito and then go taken out himself by Morrison was a nice touch. A good show overall.

Smackdown kicks off by showing us the highlights of last week’s huge tag team match where Shelton Benjamin and CM Punk defeated World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy and Christian. It also showed the announcement that Jeff will defend his belt at Extreme Rules against Benjamin, Punk and Christian in a Fatal Four Way Ladder match!
Shelton Benjamin’s theme hits as the “Gold Standard” walks to the ring, kicking off our broadcast. He gets in the ring and begins to cut a promo. Shelton says that last week, Smackdown ended with him standing tall over his three opponents for Extreme Rules. That should not come as a shock to anyone because he is the rightful owner of the World Heavyweight Title. Just like it shouldn’t shock anyone when he walks out of Extreme Rules with the belt because he is the “king” of multi-man Ladder matches. Not only has he been in more Money in the Banks than anyone, but he also won one. That’s something that Christian and the World Champion himself can’t say. CM Punk’s theme hits as the Straight Edge Society come to the stage. Punk says that he won the Money in the Bank Ladder match before Shelton and it didn’t take him four tries like Shelton. Punk also says that he’s held the World Title more than Hardy, Christian and Benjamin, so he knows what it takes to win. He explains to Shelton that his Straight Edge lifestyle leads him to World Titles, because it’s what makes him the very best. Shelton tells him to shut up about Straight Edge, which gets the crowd going in a frenzy. Punk gets furious and tells Gallows and Matthews to sic Benjamin. As they come down the ramp, Stephanie McMahon appears on the titantron. She tells the Straight Edge Society to stop. Tonight, they will all be in action, but not against each other. She announces that Benjamin will be teaming with the United States Champion, Jack Swagger, to take on Jeff Hardy and Tyler Black. While Punk has tonight off, Gallows and Matthews have a match that’s coming up next. She tells the SES to allow Shelton to go backstage unharmed or she will remove Punk from the World Title match Extreme Rules. Benjamin leaves untouched and we go to commercial before our opener.
Commercial Break
The South Beach Party Boys vs. The Straight Edge Society |

CM Punk was not happy with his disciples after this one. Last week they challenged the South Beach Party Boys, yet they dropped this contest to them. All in all, it was a solid tag team match that really helped showcase how good the division has gotten. Watson got the win for his team after nailing the Showtime Splash.

Winners: The South Beach Party Boys [6:13] **1/4

In the back we now see Gail Kim preparing for her upcoming match against her protégé, April Lee. Lee comes up to her and wishes Gail good luck tonight. Kim, whose attitude has been questionable as of late, seems resilient, but wishes her good luck back and the pair shake hands.Commercial BreakJosh Matthews is standing by with former United States Champion, Tyler Black. He asks Black what’s next for him now that he lost his rematch for the US Title. Black says that just because he lost one rematch, he’s not done. He will earn another shot, but until then, his focus will be on the King of the Ring Tournament.Divas Elimination Chase April Lee vs. Gail Kim | The student-teacher dynamic these two have made for excellent in ring action as they clearly knew each other well. At first, Kim had a counter for all of Lee’s offense, but Lee shocked everyone by having counters for Kim’s offense as well. Kim was taken aback by that and tried to get too aggressive which cost her in the end. She went to the top for a cross body, but Lee dodged it. When Kim got up to her knees, Lee connected with the Shining Wizard for the win. | Winner: April Lee [5:57] ** |
Lee celebrated the biggest win of her career as she will now be facing Serena Mancini for the Women’s Championship at Extreme Rules. The announcers inform us that the match has been confirmed to be a Lumberjill Strap Match. Lee helps Kim up after the match and offers up a handshake. Kim obliges, but it was more of a slap than a shake, and he walks off alone.Commercial BreakThe Dudebusters are in their locker room and Curt Hawkins is preparing for his match with TJ Wilson tonight. They play rock, paper, scissors to determine which of them will not participate in the WWE World Tag Team Title match at Extreme Rules. Hawkins loses, but says that he will soften up Wilson for the Pay-Per-View.United States Champion Jack Swagger & Shelton Benjamin vs. World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy & Tyler Black | The team of Benjamin and Swagger, two former amateur stars, worked together like a well oiled machine. They cut the ring in half and focused on Tyler Black for the most part. Eventually the former United States Champion managed to tag in the current World Heavyweight Champion and Jeff cleaned house. Moments later he tossed Swagger into the corner and then hit the Hardyac Arrest. What he didn't know was the Benjamin tagged himself in, so when Hardy got up, he was met with Paydirt, which put him down for the count. | Winners: United States Champion Jack Swagger & Shelton Benjamin [10:23] *** |
Christian is shown watching on a monitor backstage, obviously scouting for the upcoming World Heavyweight Title Ladder match. He turns away and begins to prepare for his main event match with Randy Orton later tonight!Commercial BreakCody Rhodes makes his way to the ring when Smackdown returns. He is in dressy clothing as he steps through the ropes. Rhodes begins to speak about his actions of the past two weeks, where he beat down on his older brother, Goldust. He says that the explanation is quite simple actually. Back in the day, when their father was in his prime, the name Rhodes meant something. It was the name of a winner, a Champion and a respected man. When he saw his older brother get to the WWE, he wanted to be just like him at first. But then he saw the man his brother became. This Goldust persona embarrassed the family name and Cody was ashamed of it. For the first time, he shares a brand with his brother and it is now his goal to eliminate him from the WWE forever. His plan is to bring pride back to the Rhodes name. He has taken his brother out for now, but once he returns, Cody will end him for good. Commercial BreakCurt Hawkins w/ Trent Baretta & Caylen Croft vs. TJ Wilson w/ Harry Smith & Natalya Neidhart | Wilson has continued to impress in the ring, as he looks like he could one day make a solid singles star. Hawkins made sure to use all of the illegal tactics he could find as he raked Wilson in the eyes, pulled his tights on a roll up and had Croft trip him up. Smith ran around and began to brawl with Croft and Baretta outside, and Hawkins watched with glee as the two on one advantage was working. He turned back to Wilson and was swept up into the Sharpshooter and he tapped out. | Winner: TJ Wilson [6:18] **3/4 |
Wilson let go once the bell rang and hit Baretta and Croft with a big suicide dive. The Dudebusters crawled away and retreated up the ramp as Wilson and Natalya checked on Smith on the outside.
April Lee is shown celebrating her big win tonight with Kelly Kelly. The Women’s Champion herself, Serena Mancini walks up to her and congratulates her on shortening her own career. Once she steps into the ring with Serena, she signed her own death wish, unless of course, she’d like to be saved by the Straight Edge Society. Gail Kim breaks this up and challenges Mancini next week. Serena accepts but makes sure that it’s non-title because, as she says, Kim couldn’t earn it like Lee did. Kim stares a hole through Lee and storms off.Commercial BreakAshley Valance is standing by with Randy Orton. She asks him about his feelings going into tonight’s main event match with Christian on a losing streak. Orton blankly stares at her and tells her to watch who she’s talking to. He says he wants to punt Rey Mysterio in the skull for beating him two weeks ago and he didn’t get the chance last week. He challenges Rey to a Street Fight at Extreme Rules and promises to make Rey nothing more than a mark on the win streak he’ll begin tonight against Christian.R-Truth vs. The Miz | The continued push of The Miz led to a loss for R-Truth tonight. Despite this, he put on a solid contest and got in a lot of offense. He even hit his trademark Lie Detector but Miz somehow managed to kick out. Shortly after that, Truth was down for the count after being hit with the Skull Crushing Finale. | Winner: The Miz [6:26] **1/2 |
“Captain Charisma” is shown walking to the arena for his upcoming main event battle with “The Viper” Randy Orton!Commercial BreakChristian vs. Randy Orton |

For two guys who haven’t really shared the ring in their career, they showed surprisingly good chemistry. Christian has really upped his game since returning in January. He hit a frog splash, tornado DDT and a top rope cross body for near falls. Orton got close calls on a back breaker, DDT and even his RKO, when Christian got his foot on the rope. Orton stalked him for a second RKO, but Christian shoved him off into the corner. He backed out right into the Unprettier which allowed victory for Christian.

Winner: Christian [11:25] ***1/4

Christian headed up the ramp celebrating his victory, when he was assaulted by CM Punk. Punk beat him down, placed him on his shoulders and connected with the Go to Sleep! He walks off, leaving Christian’s limp body as our last image.© WWE 2010

Clips are shown from last week’s edition of Raw where Edge lost to Kofi Kingston in a non-title match and Kingston then came very close to cashing in his Money in the Briefcase only to have Edge Spear him and exit as quickly as possible. He was then attacked by Shane McMahon and they brawled to close the show.
We are joined by Chris Jericho to kick off this week’s broadcast of Raw. As usual, he’s in a suit and slowly walks to the ring. He begins cutting a promo on John Cena, saying that in six days he will officially end any war with him he’s ever had. When Jericho returned to the WWE in 2007, his path didn’t cross with Cena until a year later, when Cena was unfairly given a World Title shot upon his return and he beat Jericho for it. When Jericho attempted to regain it, he fell short, and has every other time he stepped in the ring with Cena one on one. That was the story until Backlash a few weeks back where he defeated Cena and continued his career. Now that his career is safe, he wants to add to the amount of World Titles he’s won in his career. Apparently, before he can do that, Cena wants some revenge, in the form of a Dog Collar match. He’s looking forward to this though, because he plans on beating Cena within an inch of his life and a chain is the perfect weapon for that task. He realized that after his match with Sheamus tonight, Cena might not even make it to Extreme Rules. In that case, he’ll take a forfeit victory and put Cena behind him forever. Surprisingly, Alberto Del Rio’s theme hits as Raw’s newest villain, wearing wrestling attire, joins Jericho in the ring. He says that he’s only out here to agree with everything Jericho says and claims that it was an honor and a privilege to team with him last week, even though they lost. Jericho agrees and says that he sees a world of potential in Del Rio. Del Rio tells him to watch this next match and see just how much potential he has. Jericho seems to agree and heads out to the commentators table.
Commercial Break
Alberto Del Rio vs. Mr. Kennedy |

Del Rio seemed to have taken Kennedy lightly, which was a bad move considering Kennedy’s a former two time ECW Champion. He overwhelmed Del Rio on numerous occasions and picked up several near falls. Del Rio worked over Kennedy’s arm, obviously planning on locking in his signature armbar. Kennedy climbed up for the Kenton Bomb, but Del Rio shook the ropes, causing him to fall on his groin. Del Rio went to the second rope, wrapped up Kennedy’s arm and flipped over. When they hit the mat, Del Rio had the arm locked in his trademark submission and Kennedy has no choice but to submit.

Winner: Alberto Del Rio [8:20] ***

Jericho got up from his position at the announcer’s table and seemed impressed by Del Rio’s performance. He didn’t acknowledge him though and just walked to the back. Instead of looking upset at this, Del Rio had a smirk, knowing that he impressed a future Hall of Famer.
Justin Angel, who defeated Evan Bourne in his debut last week, is shown preparing for the rematch tonight. Bourne walks up to him and wishes him the best of luck. Angel returns the favor, but asks why this match is happening if they’re going through with last week’s plan. Bourne says that this is one more match to test each other before they announce their plan.Commercial BreakJohn “Bradshaw” Layfield is shown in his office when a knock is heard. Elijah Burke enters with the Intercontinental Title draped over his shoulder. He wants to know when he’ll be facing Dolph Ziggler since Dolph won a title shot last week. JBL says that he was just about to inform Burke of that. Earlier tonight Dolph stated that he’ll be using his title shot next week right here on Raw! Burke likes the sound of that and says that he’s going to enjoy next week. The Jung Dragons w/ Jamie Noble vs. The Usos | Once again, The Usos looked impressive and their chemistry together is just great. The Jung Dragons impressed as well though, as both of these teams were vying to be next in the line for the WWE World Tag Team Titles. Yoshi Tatsu almost got the win when he drilled Jimmy with a huge kick to the head, but Jules broke up the count. The Usos went for their assisted Samoan Drop, which they used to win last week, but Jimmy was brought down with another huge kick from Tatsu. That forced him to drop Jimmy Yang, who ducked a punch from Jules. Jules was then hit with a roaring elbow from Tatsu and Yang rolled him up for the win. | Winners: The Jung Dragons [6:06] **½ |
Josh Matthews is now standing by with Montel Vontavious Porter, who faces the WWE Champion, Edge, in a non-title match in a few moments. He asks him for his thoughts on the upcoming match. MVP admits that he suffered a tough loss to Edge at Backlash, followed by a rough patch with Alberto Del Rio as of late. His fortunes can change tonight though as a victory over Edge could vault him back into Title contention. Once he done with Edge tonight though, his focus will be on Alberto Del Rio, because he owes him big time. In fact, he challenges Del Rio to a one on one match next week, right here on Raw.Commercial BreakNon-Title Match WWE Champion Edge vs. MVP
| Much like their meeting at Backlash, this was a good contest that included a lot of solid back and forth action. MVP controlled the early portions by working over Edge’s neck. Edge took control and focused on MVP’s ribs. He went for the Spear, but MVP caught him and trapped him in a surprise guillotine chokehold. Edge reached the ropes to break the hold. MVP went for the Drive-By, but Edge dodged that and rolled MVP into a school boy with a handful of tights for the underhanded victory. | Winner: WWE Champion Edge [10:16] *** |
Commercial BreakWhen we return from commercial break, Edge is still in the ring, with the WWE Title in hand. He has a microphone and begins to address the crowd. He says that once again he has proven that 2010 is his year and that 2009 was a hiccup. He has now beaten each and every Superstar thrown in front of him. Whether it was MVP, John Cena, Ted Dibiase Jr., Chris Jericho or even his own brother, Christian, they’ve all fallen to the “Rated R Superstar”. In six days, he will add Shane McMahon to that list because he will put him out of action with another concussion. As he’s speaking, Shane McMahon creeps into the ring after running in through the crowd. Edge turns around right into a Lou Thez Press from Shane. Shane fires away with right hands before picking Edge up and delivering a huge spinning back kick that sends Edge through the middle rope and to the outside. Shane celebrates with the WWE Universe as Edge was hurt and shocked on the outside. Commercial BreakOnce again, our esteemed General Manager, John “Bradshaw” Layfield is shown in his office. Sheamus enters and says that he wants to know the stipulation for the match Mr. McMahon made last week between himself and The Undertaker at Extreme Rules. JBL tells Sheamus that he likes him and the way he’s carried himself since coming over from Smackdown. As a reward, he will allow Sheamus to choose the stipulation for their match at Extreme Rules. Sheamus smirks and says that he will inform the world before his main event match tonight.Dolph Ziggler & Divas Champion Michelle McCool w/ Layla vs. Intercontinental Champion Elijah Burke & Mickie James | It’s pretty clear that next week’s Intercontinental Title match should be a treat as Burke’s time in the ring with Ziggler was just fantastic. They have showed a great chemistry and should bring us a very exciting series of matches. McCool and James also showcased some good chemistry and a good feud between them can be sensed. The finish of this one came when the new Divas Champion fell to the Mick Kick, giving the faces the victory here tonight. | Winners: Intercontinental Champion Elijah Burke & Mickie James [6:55] **¼ |
After the match, Ziggler pulled McCool out of the ring and to safety, along with Layla. He pointed up at Burke and James, celebrating, and signaled that the Intercontinental Title belongs to him.Commercial BreakAshley Valance is backstage with John Cena. She asks him for comments about what Chris Jericho said earlier tonight. Cena says that numerous superstars have tried to eliminate him and he’s still standing here. If Jericho thinks he’s going to be a stepping stone to a WWE Title shot, he’s sorely mistaken. Cena vows that he will win at Extreme Rules and go on to become the WWE Champion once again.Evan Bourne vs. Justin Angel | Much like last week, this was a battle of respect. Two high flying superstars in a back and forth contest to see who the better man is. This week though, Bourne moved out of the way of Angel’s 450 Splash. He climbed up to nail the Airbourne, but Angel moved away from that as well. Both men were down for a while, but got up at the same time. They traded shots for a short while until Bourne connected with a huge hurricanrana and he bridged it for a near fall. Shortly thereafter though, Bourne won with the top rope diving double knee drop. | Winner: Evan Bourne [7:07] **¾ |
Post match, Bourne helped Angel to his feet and grabbed a microphone. He reminds everyone that earlier tonight he said that he and Justin Angel had an announcement to make after their match. They’ve now proven they can beat each other, they have similar styles and very similar goals. This makes them perfect tag team partners. Evan Bourne and Justin Angel are officially a tag team and their goal is the WWE World Tag Team Titles!Commercial BreakBefore our main event, Sheamus comes down to the ring and gets a microphone. He says that earlier tonight, General Manager John “Bradshaw” Layfield informed him that he will be able to pick the stipulation for his match with The Undertaker at Extreme Rules. He has taken all night to think of one and it finally came to him. Undertaker is famous for his own match types. Whether it’s Hell in a Cell, Buried Alive or Casket Matches. Sheamus is going to go against the grain though and choose a match he’s famous for. At Extreme Rules, The Undertaker will step into his domain and face him in a Belfast Brawl!

Sheamus continues to have first time ever matches with the top superstars in the WWE and they’re all great. Cena attempted to use his power on Sheamus, but in a rare turn of events, he was the one who was overpowered. Sheamus dominated select points of this contest, shocking the audience. Of course, Cena got in his usual flurry of offense and rallied behind the crowd’s roars. He hoisted Sheamus up for the FU, but Sheamus elbowed out of it and connected with a huge Brogue Kick. He covered but Cena became the first person to kick out of that move. Sheamus went for it again when Cena got up, but Cena ducked it and delivered a drop toe hold, before locking in the STFU! Before anything else could happen though, Chris Jericho ran down and attacked Cena.

Winner via Disqualification: John Cena [11:19] ***¼

Jericho continued to pummel Cena and we now see that he had a steel chain wrapped around his fist. Considering the steel chain that will be in play during their Dog Collar match, this could be a gruesome preview for this Sunday! Jericho will not stop and Cena is busted wide open! Officials finally rush down and pull Jericho off to end the broadcast.© WWE 2010

5/18/10 Edition-A trade was made last night between Raw and ECW. Going to Raw will be Carlito, while Paul Burchill and his sister, Katie Lea will make the move to Tuesday nights. -With Katie Lea and Paul Burchill moving, the British Alliance is no more. Not only that but Layla has dropped the London from her name and will no longer accompany William Regal to the ring. Instead, as shown on wwe.com, she has formed "Team LayCool" with the Divas Champion, Michelle McCool. -The WWE has decided on a huge new angle that will begin soon and last all the way until WrestleMania and possibly further. No word on what this will be exactly, but rumors say that it will start at the King of the Ring Pay-Per-View. -MVP has decided not to re-sign with the WWE. He has already informed the company that he will be leaving when his contract expires on June 30th. Expect him to put over Alberto Del Rio before he departs though.

Alright. Monday Night Raw. Good opening promo from Jericho, interesting to have Alberto Del Rio make the interruption. Hmm, alliance? Good for Del Rio to go over Kennedy in this match. Although, I would like to see Kennedy get a big run soon within the company on Raw. Burke versus Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship next week on Raw sounds quite entertaining. Wouldn't mind some build for it later in the show, though. I'm not that big of a fan of the Jung Dragons still, to be honest, but at this moment it can be a fair opportunity for them rather than The Uso's - who I see as future contenders. Interested in MVP vs ADR next week, shall be entertaining. Good first-hour match up with Edge getting the sneaky heel win. I see MVP going down, down, down. Good promo from the WWE Champion himself afterward. I really don't expect Shane O Mac to walk away with the gold at all; I don't think I could picture it either. Though, it would be very, very interesting and intriguing. I'm fine with Burke and James winning over Ziggler and McCool; I am just glad you put a bit of build for Ziggler/Burke before next week. Evan getting the win this time around is cool. I like the idea of a team between these two, as well, can actually give them something to do rather than fall down the card. Solid idea to go with the Belfast Brawl between Taker and Sheamus. Good main event to follow, as well, and I'm glad it resulted in a DQ thanks to Jericho. The post-match assault seemed quite brutal, which I like. Good show again.

A video package opens tonight’s ECW, showing John Morrison’s victory over Carlito in last week’s main event. Next it showed Morrison deliver a springboard kick to the ECW Champion Ezekiel Jackson and follow that by knocking him to the outside with the ECW Title.
ECW newcomer Wade Barrett opens tonight’s broadcast, coming to the ring ready to cut a promo. He’s wearing his trademark rose in his jacket pocket as he steps through the ropes. He begins by saying that two weeks, we witnessed something special. We saw the debut of the guy who change the face of ECW and the WWE altogether. Barrett claims that no man in the history of the company has the complete set of tools that he does and he will run rampant over this brand and this company. Theodore Long’s theme hits as ECW’s esteemed General Manager comes down to the ring. He tells Wade Barrett that he doesn’t appreciate how he’s claiming that he will run through his brand. He calls ECW the land of opportunity, so he loves giving Barrett the chance to be on ECW, but there will not be a hostile takeover. Barrett gives a small laugh and says that no matter how much power Long thinks he has, ECW now belongs to him. Long goes to protest but Barrett hoist him onto his shoulders and plants him with the Wasteland! The crowd is in utter shock as Theodore Long has been viciously assaulted by ECW’s newest superstar. Barrett leaves up the ramp to a chorus of boos.
Commercial Break
Television Championship Joe Hennig [c] vs. Zack Ryder w/ Courtney
|

Hennig just won the Television Title from Ryder in a Triple Threat match last week, but this proved to be nearly as good. They have some good chemistry and work well off of each other. Every time Hennig got some offense going, Ryder offset it but cheating. Either he raked the eyes, pulled the tights or had Courtney get involved. He went for the Ruff Ryder, but Hennig ducked it and connected with the Perfect Plex for the 1-2-3.

Winner and Still Television Champion: Joe Hennig [8:16] **¾

The announcers put over the match, before taking us to a vignette for a potential future Television Title contender, Alex Riley! The “Varsity Villain” once again claims that he’s going to take the ECW roster to school and bully them around.Commercial BreakJosh Matthews is standing by with ECW’s newest Superstars, Paul and Katie Lea Burchill. He asks Paul what his plans are on ECW. Paul says he’s upset that he was traded to Raw, and he feels it’s because the British Alliance was too good of a tag team for the rest of the WWE. Now that he’s on ECW though, his goal is exactly what it should be; the ECW Championship.
Bryan Danielson is preparing for the main event, when John Morrison enters his locker room. He asks Danielson how he’s doing after the tough chair shot he suffered two weeks ago. Danielson says that he’s much better and ready for revenge. He tells Morrison that they are both usually not the types to take their matches to the extreme, but they must do so tonight. Both Jackson and McIntyre deserve what’s coming to them. Morrison agrees and they continue to prepare.Charlie Haas vs. Kaval | Despite not getting that much time, these two athletes put on the night’s best match possibly. It started with a feeling out process, followed by a standoff. Eventually, Haas used his mat wrestling abilities to take a short advantage. Kaval fought back and locked in a dragon sleeper. Haas would not tap out though and reached the ropes. The crowd was really getting into this just as the finish came. Kaval picked up the win after nailing the Warrior’s Way. | Winner: Kaval [7:27] *** |
Commercial BreakChris Masters makes his way out to the ring as ECW returns, and he has a steel chair in hand. He gets in the ring and opens the chair before grabbing a microphone. He announces that since getting drafted to ECW he has not been given the chance to show off his abilities. But now, with Teddy Long away, he has taken it upon himself to show off. He issues an open challenge to anyone in the back to come out and try to break his Masterlock. A few seconds pass by and nothing happened, until the theme of The Hurricane hit! ECW’s resident superhero got in the ring and told “citizen” Chris that he accepts this test of strength. Masters laughs at him but tells him to sit. Hurricane sits and Masters gets behind him. He clamps on the Masterlock and Hurricane is clearly struggling to break it. Suddenly though, he stomps on Masters’ foot multiple times in a row. Masters lets go of the hold to grab his foot and Hurricane begins to celebrate. Masters begins to protest saying that Hurricane didn’t break the hold, as it was just Masters releasing it. Hurricane continued to celebrate until he turned into a huge clothesline from Masters. He then locked in the Masterlock again, and Hurricane tried to step on him again, but Masters avoided it until Hurricane passed out. He raised his arms and left to a sea of boos. Commercial BreakExtreme Rules Tag Team Match Bryan Danielson & John Morrison vs. Drew McIntyre & ECW Champion Ezekiel Jackson
| With this match being contested under Extreme Rules, it allowed a lot more leeway. It started out as a normal tag match, but about ten minutes in, it became a tornado tag as nobody bothered to tag in. Weapons like trash cans, kendo sticks and steel chairs got involved. Danielson went for a suicide dive on McIntyre, but just like two weeks ago, McIntyre drilled him with a weapon, which was a kendo stick this time. Morrison broke up the count though. Shortly thereafter, Danielson was back up and he was trying to take Jackson out with a sleeper hold, but it was Morrison who picked up the win when he hit the Starship Pain on McIntyre. | Winners: Bryan Danielson & John Morrison [12:29] ***¼ |
Jackson finally broke Danielson’s sleeper hold and then hit him with the Book of Ezekiel. He was now standing alone in the ring with his opponent for this Sunday. Morrison tried to strike first by charging him, only to be caught in a bearhug. Morrison tried to fight but began to fade. Jackson let go, but quickly drilled his challenger with the Book of Ezekiel. The ECW Champion has made a statement heading into Extreme Rules.© WWE 2010

First off, kudos for keeping this monstrosity. The size of this makes Stephen King's novels look like a short stories. Glad to see you keep Carlito on TV, losing or not. Barrett on ECW seems kind of right for some reason. Wasteland on Long? I'm listening. This seriously makes Barrett badass. Like the TV title back. Brings a little something extra. No clue who Joe Hennig is, TBH. I like Ryder so I'd prefer him to win. Burchill good be a good edition if you can write and use him well. Good Morrison/Danielson segment for hype.things like that make it seem realistic. Kaval over Haas makes me sad panda. Either way it seemed to be a decent match. Nice segment. Gave me a good giggle. I wonder who you pick to break it. (If anyone breaks it) Alright, main event time. Like the realism in the match simply falling into a tornado tag. Keeps it exciting. I'm glad to see your champion over, you wouldn't want him looking weak into a defense. (especially a big dude like Zeke) Aside from my opinions & reactions to the show's events, I think you do a good job with this. There's really no problems except the usual repetitive, "he did this" and "he did that."

ECW on SyFy: Tuesday 11th May 2010...Joe Hennig beating Charlie Haas and Zack Ryder is acceptable, the most youthful talent in my mind should always be in possession of the WWE Television Championship. The title change was pretty predictable, really. A good opening contest to the show. Drew McIntyre in my mind needs to stick to the matches more than promos for the minute. Bryan Danielson kicking off McIntyre's WWE career with a feud could be good, but I expect McIntyre to win otherwise Drew's push will be in question. Kaval beating Chris Masters would have been an awkward match, really. Masters deserves better treatment, he still has some potential left in him. Wade Barrett beating Primo was extremely likely. Wonder how you build Barrett. He seems to have a similar character to McIntyre, really. Lastly, good win for John Morrison against Carlito, but still a weak main event. Ezekiel Jackson's involvement was nice, I wish Zeke had competed tonight really. A decent show still.
WWE SmackDown: Friday 14th May 2010...Shelton Benjamin in the ring is a good opening segment, of course we were expecting interruptions, CM Punk's involvement was good, and I do like this situation with so many contenders to the World Heavyweight Championship. The South Beach Party Boys beating the Straight Edge Society really shows the Society off as a bad unit. I dislike this, you could treat them so much better than this. April Lee beating Gail Kim is a good conclusion to the Divas Elimination Chase, looking forward to her facing Serena in a Strap match. Of course it'll be Lumberjills, way to get the divas involved to actually make the crowd care about what's going on. Jack Swagger and Shelton Benjamin had a good first-hour main event with Jeff Hardy and Tyler Black. You should really start building Swagger to the main event quicker, I feel he has the potential now to be ready for the main event. Hopefully in the Summer at least. Cody Rhodes' persona change is nice, looking forward to this starter program with Goldust, perhaps. TJ Wilson beating Curt Hawkins was the better decision. Wonder who Hart Trilogy would assign in the event of a six-man tag team match with the Dudebusters. The Miz beating R-Truth is alright. Again, Miz could easily be brought to the upper/main event section of the show. You should consider these things, they seem so out of place in this position on cards. Christian beating Randy Orton cleanly is a shame. A decent show, but I definitely believe that there can be room for improvement and a main event scene change. I am glad the main event for Extreme Rules is now a ladder match.

ECW: Nice way to kick off the show. Barrett attacking Long is quite shocking, didn't think that would happen. Hennig vs Ryder seemed like a good match, hopefully these two have more matches against each other over the title. Riley's promo was good to get him over to be a possible contender for the title. I would love Paul Burchill to go for the ECW Championship, hopefully he is built up well to go for the title. Nice little segment with Danielson and Morrison to hype up the main event. Haas vs Kaval seems like a really good match, nice to see Kaval get the win. Loved the Masterlock segment as it would seem very WWE like with The Hurricane answering the challenge. Loved the way Hurricane got to "break" the hold and Masters beating him up after to gain heat. Main event sounded great and its good to see the team of Morrison and Danielson get the victory. Nice little post match brawl between Big Zeke and Morrison, nice way to build up their upcoming pay-per-view match.

-Looks like Barrett is going to step up soon as ECW's biggest heel. Looking forward to advancement for him. -Hennig over Ryder is good to give him a decent start. Wonder how long it'll be. -Kaval pulling it out over Haas is fine, nothing wrong with that call. -A Masterlock challenge is a fine way to stall time. Decent in my opinion. Good job though. -An awesome innovative and fun main event. Morrison and Bryan winning makes it better. Good call. -Solid show; loved the main event.

Tonight’s edition of Friday Night Smackdown begins with a video package, showing how last week’s episode ended with CM Punk assaulting Christian heading into their big Fatal Four Way Ladder Match at Extreme Rules.

For the first time in a while, we open with some in-ring action and we’re glad we did. This was possibly the best one on one match of The Miz’s career as he managed to mesh well with Tyler Black. His cocky attitude came into play as he seemed to celebrate every move he hit. That came back to bite him as Black rallied and even hit the Buckle Bomb. He went for the superkick with Miz on his knees, but Miz ducked and rolled him up with a handful of tights to pick up the win.

Winner: The Miz [8:16] ***

The cameras now catch Randy Orton walking towards the arena as it looks like “The Viper” will be joining us when we return.Commercial BreakRandy Orton does indeed come down to the ring to address the WWE Universe. He speaks about Rey Mysterio and how, last week, he challenged him to a Street Fight at Extreme Rules. It was then announced via wwe.com that Rey was stupid enough to accept. Randy proclaims that in two days, we will witness the end of the career of Rey Mysterio. He claims to have never been more serious about something in his career. Rey is just a roadblock on his path back to the World Heavyweight Title and he will make an example of him this Sunday. Rey Mysterio’s music plays as he walks out and gets in the ring. Before he speaks, Randy tells him that being in the same ring as him is a bad move. Rey tells Randy that he’s not scared of him and his psycho persona. He thinks that Randy is just trying to make people think about something besides the fact that he’s no longer World Heavyweight Champion, instead of just being a man and winning it back. Randy is furious at that statement and swings at Rey, who ducks. Rey runs off the ropes and goes for a cross body, but Orton catches him with a powerslam. He then pummels on Rey with numerous right hands before going outside to get a steel chair. Before he could do any real damage though, officials rush out to pull Rey out of the ring. Commercial BreakHarry Smith w/ TJ Wilson & Natalya Neidhart vs. Trent Baretta w/ Caylen Croft & Curt Hawkins | Baretta was on a mission to even the score between them and the Hart Trilogy in singles matches after Wilson defeated Hawkins last week. His plan was to use his speed to combat Smith’s power advantage, and it worked early on. Smith did manage to take control for a while after hitting a stalling vertical suplex. He went for his signature power slam, but Baretta wriggled free and connected with a tornado DDT for a surprisingly clean victory. | Winner: Trent Baretta [6:41] **½ |
After the match, The Hart Trilogy began to head up the ramp, when Caylen Croft grabbed a microphone. He said that with the score tied at one, he wants to face Natalya to show the Dudebusters’ dominance over The Hart Trilogy. He even tells Hawkins and Baretta to go outside and leave them alone in the ring. TJ Wilson tries to prevent Natalya from going in, but Croft eventually goads her into entering. He tries a sneaky cheap shot, but Natalya ducked it and hit him with a big body slam. He scurries out of the ring as Natalya tells him to come back in. The crowd cheers as now The Dudebusters head up the ramp, embarrassed.
Josh Matthews is backstage with the United States Champion, Jack Swagger. He asks Swagger about not being on tonight’s card and being left off of Extreme Rules. Swagger says that normally he would be upset about being disrespected like this, but he sees this situation in a different light. He isn’t going to be in action because there just simply is no competition for him anymore. He might as well be put into the Ladder match at Extreme Rules so he could just win the World Title already and get the inevitable over with.Commercial BreakStephanie McMahon is shown walking backstage and she enters Jack Swagger’s locker room. She tells him that he hasn’t earned a World Title shot yet, but if he wants action, he’ll be in a King of the Ring First Round match next week on Smackdown!Non-Title Match World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin
| These two had a great series of matches during 2009 and it continues here tonight in 2010. They were given a good amount of time and went back and forth throughout for the most part. Hardy hit key moves like the Hardyac Arrest, sitout jawbreaker and even the Twist of Fate for near falls. Benjamin came close after hitting a T-Bone suplex and the Shell Bomb. In the end, Jeff climbed up for the Swanton Bomb, only to have CM Punk rush down and knock him off the top. | Winner via Disqualification: World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy [10:59] *** |
CM Punk then enters the ring and hits Shelton Benjamin with a stiff kick to the head. He hoists him up and drills him with a Go to Sleep before raising his arm high in the sky.Commercial BreakDuring the break, officials helped Benjamin and Hardy, who landed on the announce table when he was knocked off the top rope, to the back. CM Punk brings out the rest of the Straight Edge Society and begins to cut a promo. He says that what we just witnessed was two of his three targets for tonight being taken out. But his ultimate goal is not to take out all three men in the end. He doesn’t care for Christian or Shelton Benjamin, but he wants to save Jeff Hardy and the WWE Universe. He claims that Jeff Hardy lives a terrible lifestyle that has seen him get suspended twice for violating the WWE’s drug policy, which is something Punk has never, nor will ever do. He can save Jeff from that lifestyle like he did with Joey Matthews, Drew Gallows and Serena Mancini. Then, he will save the WWE Universe, the same WWE Universe that boos him and cheers for someone like Jeff. It is his destiny to show the entire world that being Straight Edge will improve their life. It’s clearly one of the reasons why he is better than everyone who isn’t Straight Edge, and he will prove it this Sunday, when he becomes World Heavyweight Champion. April Lee & JTG vs. Drew Gallows & Women’s Champion Serena Mancini w/ CM Punk & Joey Matthews | This was your basic mixed tag match, as obviously, the men and women did not interact. JTG was still upset with the Straight Edge Society for comments they made two weeks ago, and he was coming at Gallows with everything he had. On the female side, Lee surprised Mancini with a lot of her fast paced offense. She nailed the Shinauri but the count was broken up. A few moments later, Gallows won after hitting JTG with the Gallows Pole. | Winners: Drew Gallows & Women’s Champion Serena Mancini [6:14] ** |
Commercial BreakWe return to see Ashley Valance standing by with “Captain Charisma”. She asks him his thoughts about being the one guy from the Extreme Rules World Title match that CM Punk hasn’t taken out tonight. Christian says that’s fine with him because after what Punk did to him last week, it’ll be him that has to be helped out of the arena after the main event.Cody Rhodes vs. Goldust | There was clearly some bad blood here due to Rhodes’ recent attacks on his older brother. It seemed that every time Rhodes did a move to Goldust, he shouted things like “that’s why I’m a true Rhodes.” Goldust began a comeback after he nailed Rhodes with an uppercut. He hooked his little brother for the Curtain Call, but Rhodes blocked it. He then went for the Cross Rhodes, but Goldust reversed it into a snapmare, followed by the Curtain Call to end it. | Winner: Goldust [7:01] **¾ |
After the match, Goldust helped his little brother up and could be heard telling him that they should end this. He says that there’s no reason they can’t be brothers who get along or at least brothers who aren’t at war. Rhodes hugs his brother and they raise their arms together, only to have Cody blast his brother with a clothesline. He looks down on Goldust with a grin as he’s taken out his brother once again.Commercial BreakStephanie McMahon is shown in her office when a knock is heard. In steps The Miz, who asks why he’s been called here. Stephanie tells him that his underhanded victory tonight did not go unnoticed. As a punishment she was thinking about removing him from the King of the Ring Tournament. Miz objects quickly, saying that she can’t do that. Stephanie says she can, but she won’t. He’ll stay in because he has been on a roll lately, but next week, he’ll face Tyler Black in a rematch! Miz doesn’t like this and leaves with a frown.Christian vs. CM Punk w/ The Straight Edge Society |

Since Christian’s return in the beginning of the year, we haven’t seen much in ring action from these two together. Even with that, they still put on one hell of a show. This contest featured back and forth action with Punk working over Christian’s right arm and Christian working on Punk’s back. Punk attempted to lock in the Anaconda Vise, only to have Christian reach the ropes. He then called for the Go to Sleep, but Christian elbowed his way out of it, got behind Punk, and nailed the Unprettier for the win.

Winner: Christian [12:18] ***¼

Once the bell rang, the Straight Edge Society entered the ring and began to attack Christian. When Punk got up, he joined in on the three on one beating until Jeff Hardy rushed down to the ring. He took it to the SES, but the numbers disadvantage still hurt. Suddenly, Shelton Benjamin rushed out and also began to assault the SES. Christian, Benjamin and Hardy forced the SES to retreat with their combined powers. As the SES watched from the ramp, Benjamin, Christian and Hardy stared each other down from their corners of the ring.© WWE 2010
