I saw this when it was posted, I've always wanted to make one, but I fear my camera isn't good enough - I take it you use a pro. camera? Thanks for the pics btw! ____ Oh, and why do you need the paper strips? Didn't see that last part until now! The strips are to glue to the inside of the box covering up any brown showing. I think it's to bounce the light evenly. ---And Hulkamaniac, if I ever sell anything on ebay again, I'm totally using this! EDIT: Didn't want to bump this at all, but I figured I'd post this up anyway in case anyone sees it. Unmatched Fury RVD:

is there anything you don't/can't do? you're the ing man dude! thanks so much for this! Hahaha, thanks man! And you're welcome! By the way, if anyone does this and you get a little vignetting on your pics, take it in a photoshop(ish) program, and tweak the levels a little. I played with camera's settings a few times, and the one I'm using is the "Text" setting, and the "Close Up" setting. - And get a tripod if you don't have one, you don't need to use flash at all, and a steady camera REALLY helps! I need to make a bigger one to photograph my larger models in...

Back with a few more pics. This time, it's the CM Punk SHOP WWE Bobblehead. I still need to fix their bad paint job with the trunks, and I've penciled on the DRUG FREE tattoo's (still need to paint them).

No problem!
Also, getting a DAY LIGHT, (I bought a Phillips Natural Light) is a must. Regular bulbs (even the REVEAL lights by G.E. cast nasty yellow hues).
Also, just like with a 'real' light tent, you are using light by cloth, so DO NOT leave the light on (I'm taking pictures in 5 minute intervals), just to keep the risk of something getting too hot, and possibly burning.

I made one today. Here are some of my pics. Even after brightening in Photoshop, they don't seem as crisp and bright as yours. Any tips?

What kind of light bulb are you using and how close is the the light to the tent? I personally have my light about an inch away from the top of the box, and use a 60 Watt Phillips Natural Light Bulb.
You might also want to try upping the contrast a touch, or lighting the sides of the box.
Other than that, I'd say just play around a little bit with settings on your camera, and don't get discouraged, it took me a good hour to find what I like best with my camera's settings!
Still, those are REALLY great photos! The Evil Doink looks great!

Yea, this set-up is far superior to my old set-up. The bulb I'm using is a clear 75W Reveal. I haven't had a chance to get a natural light bulb yet, so that might help. I had the light right up against the cloth.
I'm kind of limited with space right now, but I'm buying a house within the next couple months, and at that time I plan to have a stand set-up specifically with all the lighting I'll need.

Oh yeah, I think the Natural Light will help out a TON dude.
I figured with my camera, the "Upclose" or "Bright Upclose" would work the best, and the feature I actually used is supposed to be used for photographing text. Every camera is different, and like I said, the light should really do the trick. You might want to hit up hardware stores first before trying Wal-Mart (or a similar store), mine didn't carry them, but Home Depot had a TON of them.
Very happy you gave it a shot too, I'm really glad someone else did!

It was a lot of fun for sure. Hopefully I can pick up a natural light bulb tomorrow. My camera also has the text mode, so I'll give that a shot.
