Heel or face, I still wouldn't like Cena, I might tolerate him a little more but I still wouldn't like him. He would need a whole new gimmick/makeover for me to even consider, the possibility, of thinking about liking him.

If Cena went heel I wonder if they will let him do more wrestling moves

Honestly, I think Punk, Cena, Batista, or Kane need to turn heel. Too many top faces on the brand. Lmao yeah. Let's have every top superstar on Raw turn heel. Sounds good to me.

I would still hate him but it might be a little less annoying watching him.

I'm not a mindless sheep who'll jump on a 'bandwagon' just cause other people are. Heel or not, he sucks in the ring.

I doubt he will, Cena is loved by all the kids, so they want to buy all the cena merchandise. Cena as face = $$$ for WWE, thats all its boiling down to.

If Cena turned heel, everyone in the world would suddenly become a fan of John Cena, and there would be a few dozen posts saying that they were fans of Cena all along. I'm ridiculously cynical, yet realistic. Thats very true

Do you think this would ever happen again? I loved him as a heel from 2002-2003 on SD, as most people did. Imagine it at WMXXV... John Cena is WWE Champ again (or challenging for the title, either way works), defending the title against somebody...just any top face that he hasn't faced before at WM. Suddenly, Vince comes down and slides a chair into the ring...for CENA?!? Cena uses the chair, beats his opponent to a pulp and retains (or wins) the gold. I think it would be great. It would be just like 8 years earlier at WMX7, but different since it's Cena. What do you think? Austin was in the WWE 6 years before he turned heel again (1995-2001), by 09 at WMXXV, Cena will have been here 7 years, so he's overdue. I think it would be a good idea to turn John Cena heel. But I feel like they should come up with a new way to do it...rather than recycle something we have already seen, like you stated, we already saw this exact same angle between Mr. McMahon and Stone Cold Steve Austin. I would like to see new ideas, new story lines, new concepts....we cannot just keep repeating. But I do think Cena should be heel. He makes a good face and a good heel, but I feel that he has been face for too long now and it is getting kind of old. To freshen up his character, make him heel and it could actually make him more popular when they decide to turn him face again.

Look at the details instead of the trends...
If John Cena were to turn heel he'd presumably: - lose his staleness instantly - get a new look - drop the cock jokes, and obnoxious, over delivered promos - trade in the goofy, happy-go-lucky personality for attitude - become more aggressive in the ring
Obviously eliminating most if not all of Cena's major flaws will result in a sharp rise in Cena popularity among the IWC. It's not bandwagoning, it's common sense.

I doubt he will, Cena is loved by all the kids, so they want to buy all the cena merchandise. Cena as face = $$$ for WWE, thats all its boiling down to. Hogan was loved by all the kids and he turned heel. Worked well for him didn't it? There's a difference, though. Hogan turned heel when he had gotten to the point of complete staleness as a face; Cena has been the top guy for only a handful of years, and has many more to look forward to as the company's top face. Also, this is a different era that you're speaking of and when Hogan turned heel, WCW struck gold with the idea of a 'New World Order.' Realistically, if Cena turned heel in today's WWE, he would be alienating the hundreds of thousands, even millions, of kids that look up to him and in turn, business would suffer. It wouldn't be a smart business move with the way Cena is able to push merchandise, and some fans would still cheer for him regardless of what he does. Besides, even if/when Cena does make a heel turn, his character won't change that much and everyone who thinks it would be a good move, would still piss on him for trying to appeal to their demographic (the IWC, who praises heel turns). Now, I'm not saying it wouldn't be possible some years down the road, but he is successful right now as a top face and the company needs that. Also, who's to say his heel turn wouldn't have a negative effect much like Austin's did originally in 2001? It just seems like too risky of a move for WWE, in my opinion.

Hogan was a smart business man, and he knew that wrestling was going the way of the heel. He knew the "attitude ERA" was on it's way, that is why he turned heel and joined the nWo.
As much as I'm sure Hogan enjoyed being loved by all the little kids, Hogan realized that wrestling was starting to become a more adult entertainment and that little kids don't plop down their money.
Older teens and adult viewers wanted more real characters, heels, controversial story lines, sex, women....and WCW, WWE, and Hogan all knew that if they wanted these people's business (AKA MONEY) that they better make the product edgier to fit the demands of the public.
That's why Hogan turned heel. Not to stay fresh, or to create good stories for the fans...no, because he was smart and knew business was about to boom and he wanted to make damn sure he was on the right side of the coin.
