It's silly to start speculating now. Give the guy a chance. When him and Murdoch were feuding with the Hardys, their series of matches was better than anything else that was going on at the time.

I prefer my Lance Cades to have long hair. I prefer my Lance Cades with a side of fat guy with mutton chop sideburns. Cade and Murdoch was the most entertaining team WWE had.

The thing about Cade is that there isn't anything special about him. He is generic Heat jobber #62. He hasn't exhibited any personality whatsoever. He hasn't done anything to set himself apart from the pack. There are guys who have managed to do that rather easily that are in Cade's spot on the card, but don't have Cade's friends.
Paul Birchill would have been an interesting choice. Putting him in that slot would have resulted in both he and Kennedy getting more attention for their feud, thus building up two guys at once.
London and Kendrick in that spot would have turned them heel and maybe even brought some attention to the tag division. It also would also expand the number of heels on the roster. There's only two heel tag teams on RAW now, right? Carlito/Santino and DiBiase/Player to be named later. A heel London/Kendrick would give someone for Cryme Tyme to feud with at least.
Basically, I believe in ABC, baby.
Anybody But Cade.
