Now I know some people are going to pick good wrestling skills right away, but think about it first. If your a wrestler obviously it's important to have good wrestling ability, but what good is it if you don't have good mic skills or good entertainment value to back it up? If your a good wrestler but have a very boring or bland character like Shelton Benjamin it's harder to get the crowd excited, however it seems easier to get the crowd excited if you are a sucky wrestler but very entertaining, just look at Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, and yes of course John Cena(although Cena doesn't entertain me). Of course both are equally important, but not every wrestler has both so if you could choose one what would it be. Also keep in mind that yes, wrestling is fake, so does it really matter if your a good wrestler since it's fake anyway, some people take it way too seriously and they shouldn't it's only purpose is for entertainment, which is why I think good mic skills and entertainment value is more important.

He could outwrestle anyone. I understand the others but...Flair? no way. IMO I think you need to have a character and have good mic skills. You can learn the art of wrestling and skills, but if you can't master the art of mic skills you just have the charisma or you don't.

skills/Entertainer are the most important thing to have, you could be the greatest wrestler in the world but unless you have a personality there is no way a crowd is going to get behind you.
Hence why I found people like Benoit extremely boring.

Mic skills for sure. Name one guy who became hugely sucessful but was not entertaining and I can name you 10 who were great on the mic but not necessarily in the ring.

mic skills & entertainment value are way more important. ring skills can be worked around if the person is naturally entertaining enough, but all the technical wrestling skills in the world can't make an uninteresting person be interesting.

Shelton Benjamin. More in ring talent than anyone, the best real wrestler in wwe and isnt bad at entertaining us but because he's uncharismatic he hasnt done much.

Well to make it in the WWE, you just need to be very charasmatic. Granted, the wrestling skill helps, but you rarely see a guy that sucks on the mic go to the top.

Nowadays it doesn't matter if you know how to wrestle. As long as you have a big mouth you're hired.

Some of the most successful people in this industry have been HORRIBLE wrestlers. I'm surprised WWE even has matches in the ring anymore.
In a few years all the fights will probably just be backstage and in parking lots and even more of the show will be soap opera style interviews with stupid story lines.

Well since you said 'wrestlers', then ability, because WWE doesn't have wrestlers, there sport entertainers, in sports entertainment. WWE isn't wrestling, Eugene has stated that and a few other wrestlers, WWE is 'sports entertainment' as they said.
Wrestling is what you find in the independents, and what you find in the old world of sport british wrestling. I stopped considering WWE being a wrestling company a LONG TIME AGO. That being said, there is ALWAYS a space for someone who can wrestle, just to make others look could.

History shows MIC skills and entertainment value is more marketable and makes more money than people with just great wrestling skill.

These days all you need is Mic Skills and Charisma to be pushed.

Wrestling ability is more important to a wrestler, entertainment / mic skills are more important to a sports entertainer.

Do you know why it's called Sports Entertainment, it's because wrestling is fake, it's not a real sport, it's sort of a sport but it's mainly entertainment, hence it's "Sports Entertainment". Indy promotions take themselves too seriously. I can't help but laugh at people who talk about ROH and other Indy promotions being all about "pure wrestling" it's fake so who cares stop taking it so seriously. At least the WWE realizes this which is why they have goofy storylines, they don't take themselves seriously because wrestling isn't a serious sport, and guess what, they're still the #1 wrestling promotion in the world. I'm going to be honest I may get bashed for this but I could care less, while some storylines are pretty stupid I find some of them to be more entertaining to me than any ROH show I've been to, sorry but I just can't take it seriously and I find it funny when everyone else does.

From a business standpoint, mic skills and entertainment value reigns supreme. But personally, I like wrestlers who have it all. And you don't have to have pure wrestling ability to be a great wrestler, you just have to know how to work a match and make it entertaining. A lot of guys in WWE can't do that.

If your a pure wrestler but boring as hell you wont go anywhere. Matt Sydal's horrible on the mic, yet he'll probably do well once he's called up to the the main WWE roster.
