Man I can't wait for this... I hope it comes in time for Crimbo but I doubt it. I preordered mine to late but couldn't wait any longer for Amazon, plus I heard the US one sold out in hours. My student discount came in handy! So, for those who are planning on getting one, what games are you getting? The first two I'm getting are Zelda and Ultimate Alliance. I really want to try a racing game (Need For Speed perhaps) with the controller, and after that will most likely hold off on any games until Sonic and Mario come out. I pre-ordered only Twilight Princess. I figure along with Wii Sports, that will keep me occupied for awhile. I'll definitely pick up Mario Galaxy when it comes out, too. About the 48 games, what I'd imagine would be one of the following: - By the time you get to 48 total Virtual Console games, you're in-Wii 512 MB will be taken up and that's not an estimate for if you have a very large SD memory card for your Wii.
- They'll make it kinda like Xbox Live Arcade, where you buy it once and can download it again over and over again on the same account so that you can mix and match should you need to.
- While it shows up as a Channel on the Wii, it doesn't actually count as one.
Those are all just guesses that I've made and haven't even been hinted at by Nintendo. Ooh, XBox Live sounds like it has a good system for saving space. Something like that would be pretty cool for Wii. Although, looking more closely, it looks like "Virtual Console" might be a channel in and of itself, and every downloaded game might create a type of sub-channel, or channel-within-a-channel of the Virtual Console channel. Total number of games you could download would still be a question mark though.

I think I even heard that you didn't have to have all your VC games on the main channel menu to play them. Honestly, I forgot what I heard about it. I'll try to dig it up. I'm getting Zelda and possibly Red Steel at launch. I'm more than likely just getting Zelda since Wii Sports and the VC will be more than enough for me until Christmas time. I'm going to ask for like 10 Wii play cards. ;D

How is the sword used in Zelda, I know about the controls for the bow and arrow and fishing... but the sword hasn't been mentioned yet.
I can't wait for a good sword fighting game (I would have to change my pants if we got a lightsaber one) with this controller.

I would have posted this sooner, however, I tried to type it up twice, and I ended up closing the window by accident both times. Anyways, I got to test out the Wii back on October 6th. This all came about because a friend of mine won a contest put on by Nintendo Power, and got to invite 30 people to test it out. We were there for 3 hours, and it was AMAZING! Unfortunately no cameras or cell phones were allowed inside so I didn't get any pictures. I got to play Wii Sports (boxing and baseball), Madden, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, and a demo of Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. I got to watch people play Zelda (I would have played but it was the most popular, and I decided I wanted some surprise when I get it) but from what I saw I was blown away. I also got to watch a little of Excite Truck, Rayman, Chicken Little, Trauma Center: Second Opinion, Wii Sports (tennis, bowling, and golf) and Elebits. All the games were incredible. And here are pics of the stuff I got, a Wii lanyard, my cell phone claim ticket to get my cell phone back when I left, and the "Key to my free Wii Remote". The key is a voucher that I send in along with my receipt from purchasing the Wii, and then they send me a free remote. What was Wii Sports and Ultimate Alliance like? That must of been fun to do.

Wii Sports was really cool, especially the boxing, you hold both hands (Wiimote and nunchuk) in front of our face to block, and to dodge the punches you lean to the side. To punch and stuff you just swing toward the screen. You can jab and uppercut and stuff. It was fun to see some of the girls play as they were really close to the screen at times almost hitting it and then at other times they were farther back and swinging wildly and knocking into people watching.
The baseball is cool, but a little bit more repetitive. You flick your wrist down with the Wiimote to pitch. To throw different speeds you just flick your wrist faster or slower, depending on how fast you want it to go. The only pitches we could figure out were curveballs, screwballs, fastballs and splitters. The splitter you hold the trigger and A and snap your wrist. Fastball, you just snap your wrist, which I guess could also act as a changeup because we were throwing 95 mph at one point, and then if you flick your wrist gently/slow, then you get a 45 mph fastball. I don't know exactly how to throw the screwball and curveball, It was either the way you twist your wrist, or if you hold the trigger while throwing. The way to bat is just time your swing right, and swing away. The thing that was kinda dumb is that it runs and fields for you. Most of the time you either get a single or an out, although it is possible to get singles and doubles. Not sure about triples though.
I thought Ultimate Alliance was really cool. You use the nunchuk to move around the hero, as well as move the camera. There are a couple of ways to use the Wiimote. You can shake it up and down to use a certain power/attack, and then for a different attack, you can shake it side to side. Once you get full momentum/fill up the meter, you can do a super power. It was pretty neat.

While it looks like it could be fun, it also looks like it could make the game a pain in the ass to play.

I would love Buffy game for the wii... I know we'll never ever get one but with the nunchuck and controller you could do the punching, the buttons the kicks and then hit a button so the controller is a stack so you dust the vampires.
It would be so much fun to play.

GoNintendo has posted a three-part Wii/Revolution history video. It covers most of the major events, including the Nintendo On hoax, leading up to where we're at now. www.wii.tv/2006/10/21/comprehensive-wii-history-parts-1-3/It's very cool to relive the past few years of Revolution/Wii. Morgan Webb saying that the controller won't be that different and then the next part being the announcement of the controller is hilarious.

A very small amount of you guys (Not maybe one actually) probably know that I work for an Aussie Nintendo site called Vooks. Anyway, I just wrapped up on editing our own podcast that we're starting and thought that I'd plug it in the top paragraph.
That Wii History video really reminded me of how much I laughed at the Nintendo ON thing. Hilarious.
