If you've known Rhodes since he was last in WWE you'd know he is one of the biggest underdog stories in WWE history. Yes he's Dusty's kid, but where did that get him? He was overlooked by a whole generation of talent while he was in the lower midcard. He left to build his name and value outside of WWE becoming one of the most successful wrestlers in the world without the WWE machine. He is now a prodigal son returning to WWE and chasing the title his father never won. He's also an honest all-American do-everything-right (which will set up a fantastic heel turn eventually). He has a distinct look, takes his physique seriously, is great in the ring and on the mic, and has the people behind him. So what if he has a great entrance and song? It just adds to his presentation. If that's what you're criticizing, you're grasping at straws. If WWE didn't see something special in him, he wouldn't have won back to back Rumbles and main eventing back to back WrestleManias. Cody is in this spot because of 3 letters. WWE wouldn't have considered making him into their new star without them, plain and simple. ROH, Impact, New Japan wouldn't have been anything to WWE other than a surprise Rumble entrant that gets dumped in 15 minutes. And you see, the mess of old and new creative regimes have already ruined him. He wasn't good enough to win last year. He's done nothing to prove he is more capable of defeating Reigns nor make his plans foolproof. He won this year's Rumble to seemingly act nonchalant about "finishing the story", a passion that's supposed to drive every action of his. Then in a state of either panic booking or trolling the smarks, they just plan on rerunning the same crap from last year, only cheapen it when Rock is more crucial to dethroning Reigns than Cody. Also, a Cody Rhodes heel turn lmfao What does this even mean?: "WWE wouldn't have considered making him into their new star without them, plain and simple"

I hope Cody doesn't win. Nothing against him at all and I am actually loving this build, it feels like a WrestleMania main event and all the guys involved have done an amazing job.
Logically it makes sense for Cody to win, but this is one of the most obnoxious fan bases I have seen in wrestling on a very long time. We all have our favourites, heck Ultimate Warrior was my hero yet some people think he's absolute trash and I can accept that is someone else's opinion. There is no friendly and fun back and forth with some of these die hard Cody fans.
These fans getting their way would be a nightmare and make them even more obnoxious!

Anything with a big fan base/following with have a portion of toxic obnoxious fans. It’s always been like that. Roman winning would be no different, the toxic obnoxious fans of his would be a nightmare. I don’t know if you’ve seen it, but they been crying since the press conference. So many people/accounts saying absolutely ridiculous things and finding anyway possible to cope.

I find some solace in them dropping the whole "last year's loss had meaning" crap they've been saying since WM 39. There was no grand plan. It was WWE fumbling, it was WWE wasting 9 months of not developing the story, and it is WWE desperately trying to repair all the damage they've done (poorly so and in the most asinine manner they could, but I'm being generous). They can't have that both ways. I won't allow it.

This thread is on 14 pages
The other locked Rock/Reigns thread got 13 pages
The Cody locked thread got 12 pages
All of this stuff is on the first page… damn. This place is booming nowadays. I remember when it was dry & nothing was really going on at all & now it just all changed.
Good stuff.

It's crazy to rewind back to just merely over one month ago, when The Rock showed up on Raw and finally hinted towards opening a programme with Roman Reigns when he mentioned sitting at the head of the table. A programme of Rock tearing into Roman, embedded with the Bloodline, and a Wrestlemania 40 Main Event. Yet somehow, we're genuinely getting a heel Rock, in what could even leave Roman coming out of this as a babyface, all because of one giant booking f*ck up with Cody winning the Rumble. What's even worse, is Rock is now a spare part, with no clear Wrestlemania plan. Appreciate this has to play out, but I can't naturally enjoy it as it's all so overly political.
All I can see now, is either Roman Reigns & The Rock vs Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins for Night One, or The Rock vs a Triple H handpicked opponent (Randy Orton, Batista?).

Roman Reigns with The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes with Triple H
There’s doesn’t need to be a Rock/Triple H match. The Rock doesn’t even need to have a match. Him being involved in the main event will draw viewers.

If you would have told me in 2023 that by February of 24, the Rock would be back acting as a heel with a slow Roman face turn incoming, I would have said your nuts. Plus Punk came back. It’s been a wild ride as of late. I’m completely sucked in.

What does this even mean?: "WWE wouldn't have considered making him into their new star without them, plain and simple" think 'what can't be spoken about on this board'... Oh like how they did last year? No...

Oh like how they did last year? No... What does this even mean? Idk, the other dude talking about what can't be talked about on this board sounds like the Vince stuff. But that wasn't a problem last year when they had Cody win the Rumble and main event WM. Idk what these people are talking about to be honest.

I've been saying it since WWE re-signed him from AEW in '22. Vince getting cold feet last year when Cody was planned to win it doesn't hurt my case.

I think they’re referring to AEW. this would be correct. Ok, and that's a bad thing? If WWE didn't want him back or saw value in investing him to the extent that they have, they wouldn't have. AEW was the best thing to happen to WWE. Cody was mismanaged in WWE along with every other non-Cena talent in the mid 2010's. He made a name for himself OUTSIDE the WWE, and now they're throwing him multi million dollar contracts to get him back, main eventing WrestleMania, and in the biggest programs of the last 2 years. Sounds about right to me.
