Title of the thread is misleading. The article says it was the highest grossing house show. They sold over 15,000 tickets. But it’s not an attendance record. Just a $ record. Plus, the article only mentions record revenue, not profits. I think the number of tickets sold, 15,000+, is still a long way from the record for MSG. Shows in the 70s and 80s would get 20,000+ at times.

I believe the other night was WWEs highest MSG attendance in nearly 10 years. Overall a good thing for them based on the current times.

I’ll never understand having a network where you can stream shows and not airing stuff like this when they have before I don't think they care because it's sold to Peacock, so even if they tape it, the effect for Peacock probably won't be felt. I did see there were a lot of cameras filming especially for Punk's return match that surely will be featured in documentaries. It was WWE's choice to have him wrestle on a house show instead of waiting for a PPV - so it's just their decision. It's even weirder because they have these couple branded events like Day 1 and New Year's Revolution that he could have been on. My suspicion is that they needed to boost ticket sales for that live event and thus booked Punk.

Its a lot of effort just for a meaningless house show. But is it? WWE does live TV 3 days a week. Plus they essentially film everything anyway. Because they have to. A house show is a nothing event though.
