If there's a crease or two, I'm alright with it, I can even be fine with it if it's damage on the back and you can't see it.

MOC collectors are so fussy, they'd kill their mothers for a minty boxed James Ellsworth.
I'm kidding. They dont have mothers.
I'm kidding.

When I kept figures in package I never cared that much except Classic Superstars I tried to get close to mint especially those prongs on top

NANI?!?!?!
A SPEC OF DUST ON MY MINT ON CARD RARE HARLEY RACE ELITE?!?!
THAT'S IT, IT'S RUINED! WHY KEEP IT NOW? I'M A MOC COLLECTOR AND THIS 1 SPEC OF DUST HAS RUINED MY HARLEY RACE ELITE, DO YOU KNOW HOW RARE THIS FIGURE IS? ESPECIALLY MOC? NOW IT'S RUINED...
WHAT'S THE POINT OF COLLECTING WHEN YOUR MOC FIGURES GET DUST ON THEM, IT COMPLETELY KILLS THE VALUE AND HONOUR OF BEING A MOC COLLECTOR, THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!
MATTEL, WHERE'S MY REPLACEMENT? DO YOU REALLY EXPECT ME TO DISPLAY THIS FILTHY, TAINTED HARLEY RACE ELITE?
THIS MAKES ME SICK, IT'S BEEN 1 MINUTE SINCE I'VE DEMANDED A REPLACEMENT FROM MATTEL AND IT'S NOT HERE YET... NOW I HAVE TO LOOK AT THIS... THIS GROSS, DUST RIDDEN HARLEY RACE ELITE.

I can definitely be very fussy, but moreso with how the figure looks inside the box compared to the box itself. I’ve passed on figures with pristine boxes simply because the figure’s head was turned slightly, or because a knee pad was halfway down.

The minty-er the better for me... as a 20+ year MOC collector, I have had to accept that boxes are going to have some issues. I can handle some shelf wear etc, it’s part of the game. But I’ll be honest, I have passed on MOC figures due to box condition. On a related note, it took me 3 times to a get a Balor EG AND 2 times for Goldberg EG before I was happy. Something about the hard plastic, they just kept on breaking during shipping, maybe RSC poor attempts at packing had something to do with it. 🤷♂️ I will also say, I think we are heading towards 3 different types of collectors now, loose, MOC and graded. I have some graded hasbro’s and condition is everything with Hasbro... Mattel might be the same 20-30 years... wow, you've been collecting for longer than I've been alive!

From my experience, I just collect loose now because I’ll never sell and ship someone a moc figure again. It’s always something.

For me personally, when I'm out figure hunting and I see a figure I want and they have more than one of course I will pick the best package. But I don't need it to be 100% perfect conditions, as I understand shipping, then people handling the figure. Now do I want the best package of course. As for buying online. I have never had a problem with RSC when it comes to conditions of a figures packaging. Hell even the Retros I had really great luck with. As for sellers or other ways of buying figures online, I try my best to ask or talk to those sellers to explain that I am a MOC collector. And then based on shipping it all depends. Again I have amazing mail people and they aren't really ones to just throw packages around. But again, I understand after talking to sellers and explaining it's still a gamble. I really haven't had any figures recently been sent to me where I said wow this package is not to my liking. Hope this helps with your question.

I try to find the best packaging as possible, but I ask questions before I buy anything.
I make it completely clear what I plan on buying and in what condition, so I fully expect it to be shipped that way.
The more rare/older something is ... I obviously will be more picky than others, but if it isn’t presentable for display then I probably wont buy it.

I’m not overly bothered if something has a bit of wear as it’s very difficult as a MOC collector to find something absolutely mint. If you’re buying online you have to take in to account how it’s handled before retailers get it, any little movements with shipping, and how it is advertised. If it’s advertised as mint and comes with creases then obviously I’d class that as non mint. But as a collector of Jakks Classic Superstars as well as Mattel Elites, the difference between the two for me is that most elites the bubbles are generally perfect whereas with the Jakks stuff if the bubble is starting to come off the card slightly I just don’t want it. That’s personal to me, I don’t know about others, but if you can see the paper ripping on the card I can’t stand that. With Mattel’s, I don’t mind buying figures boxed even if they’ve opened and repackaged. Mattel’s got it right with the fact the new elites packing just pulls out and there’s no need to rip the backing card, so if it’s something as simple as the tapes been cut and just repackaged to sell later on, especially with older elites, then I’m cool with that. It doesn’t take away from the look of it on display and unless there’s changes been made to the figures or accessories, then I don’t mind it at all.

If i can display it without noticable damage, ill trade or buy it..
No front window damage or tears, creases up to are ok, prefer no j hook damage..
