All eyes are on the Tunatron as a video package opens the show.
A dense fog wafts across the screen, slowly dissipating to reveal three pedestals. The view slowly pans up revealing three imposing statues of Ante Whitner on the left, Frank Lynn on the right, and in the center, standing above the others on the tallest pedestal, is David Brennan.
The view zooms in and around the three statues, stopping to a slow crawl as it passes over the championship belts around the waists of Lynn and Brennan. More zooming around until the view is from behind the three men on the pedestals.
Three figures emerge from the fog, walking slowly towards the pedestals. The fog parts and we see Reina Kenshin, Ryan “Needles” Payne, and Mesh approaching the pedestals with sledgehammers over their shoulders. Each lifts their hammer and starts to swing at their opponent for Breakout.
The view once again zooms around as the three newcomers hammer way at their opponents, stopping every so often to show a sledgehammer connecting with a statue and chunks of the statues flying off in slow motion.
The view keeps zooming around as the wrester pair for each match are highlighted in a broken font: Whitner vs Kenshin! Brennan vs Payne! Lynn vs Mesh!
Then, in a sudden blur of motion, a sledgehammer connects square in the middle of the view accompanied by a loud crashing sound of glass breaking. The cracks in the “glass” obstructing our view form a single word:
BREAKOUT!
The glass suddenly shatters and falls downward leaving behind a black screen as the house lights come on and pyro goes off on the stage. The crowd roars. They are ready for the show!
Alecia Matthews: Welcome to the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts! Tonight we have three great matches on the card for Breakout!
Daniel Knight: Our esteemed leader Lila Sleater booked a special night, giving several of the newest members of the roster a chance to break through the glass ceiling and go from pretender to contender.
Alecia Matthews: Yes indeed Daniel. Newcomers Reina Kenshin, Ryan “Needles” Payne, and Mesh are in for the biggest matches of their short careers tonight. It’s going to be trial by fire as they face off against Ante Whitner, WFWF World Heavyweight Champion David Brennan, and WFWF International Champion Frank Lynn.
Daniel Knight: Before we get to the matches, we’re going to take a look back in the locker room where Lila Sleater is waiting… for what we don’t know. Let’s find out.
Out back, Lila Sleater stands idle down some stretch of corridor, her back leaned against a wall emblazoned with the instantly recognizable banner of the TD Garden. She glances down the hall, her face half irritated, half anxious as she alternates between scanning the area around her and checking her watch. She switches direction for a moment, staring down the opposite end of the hallway as if she perhaps may have missed something, and as she returns her attention toward her original direction, her eyes widen suddenly, and she pushes off the wall, stepping forward to greet who or whatever it is that’s just grabbed full hold of her attention.
Lila Sleater: You made it. I was beginning to wonder whether...well, you’re here.
The object of her present attention, the WFWF World Heavyweight Champion David Brennan, steps into sight, staring down at her with a furrowed look upon his face. His hard fought token of victory, the WFWF World Heavywight Championship, is slung neatly over his shoulder. His mere silent presence is enough to illicit as massive eruption of cheers from his hometown crowd watching from within the arena, so deafening that they’re audible even out back, prompting Sleater to snap her attention back at the sudden wave of noise before turning back to meet the face of her company.
David Brennan: Deal’s a deal. Y’think I was about to let you make a liar outta me?
Lila Sleater: You’ve been through a lot, and I know that, barring any lasting feelings of personal obligation, you don’t necessarily need to be here. All I’m saying is, it’s appreciated. I’m glad to see you. They’re glad to see you.
She gestures inward, acknowledging the pop Brennan is able to pop even from the confines of the backstage area.
David Brennan: It’s a nice sentiment. Y’might start showin’ it, y’know?
Lila Sleater: David, look, I’ve told you - the business with Kyzer...it was never meant to -
David Brennan: Forget Kyzer, alright? Kyzer’s only half the story, but he’s the half that’s still here, isn’t he?
Lila Sleater: I’m...not sure I follow, David.
David Brennan: Point blank, then. When’re you gonna stop playin’ gatekeeper and let nature run its course?
Lila Sleater: Quit playing….David, I’m the General Manager of the WFWF. I mean, it’s my job to ‘play gatekeeper’. Someone’s got to be in place to ensure that this operation doesn’t completely fly off the handle. We’re running a business beneath it all, you know?
David Brennan: So run it. You wanna talk about them? What they’d be happy to see? Then get out of the way, and give it to ‘em. You stood in the way of me and Kyzer for months on end, and you wanna talk like you ain’t had sh*t to do with how ugly things turned? How much longer you think you can play that card this time, before the walls come crashin’ in all over again?
Lila Sleater: You’re serious? After all that...after all you two put each other through...after almost losing your own head - you want a rematch?
David Brennan: A rematch? Heh. No. Please. Kyzer had his chance. Ain’t any sorta fifty-fifty outcome’s gonna change the narrative of that at all. Me and Kyzer? That book’s closed - but you got one open wide in front of you, and you ain’t even tryin’ to read, Sleater.
Lila Sleater: Reading takes time. I’m starting to run short. Busy life. Why don’t you be a dear and just tell me how it ends, you being so apparently well versed.
David Brennan: You’re f*ckin’ serious?
She postures, placing her hands on her hips, striking an irritable stance and throwing him a hollow, darkened brand of shade that tells him all too silently and equally as vibrantly that she is, in fact, deadly serious.
Brennan, in response, dials back chuckling to himself while rolling his eyes before snapping back to attention, his now furrowed eyes locked tight upon hers as he stares daggers right through her, her stoic facade wavering even as she tries to maintain her poise.
David Brennan: Drakz.
Lila Sleater: You want Drakz?
Brennan chuckles again as the crowd, still distantly removed from the immediate earshot of the two colleagues, erupts in a wave of deafening approval. The moment is short lived, with Brennan diving right back into his deadly serious tone once he’s shaken off the absurdity of Sleater still missing the point.
David Brennan: Nah. I don’t want Drakz. Been there, done that. But you? You might consider bookin’ that sh*t before your barriers break down, and those two kill each other outside the confines of you takin’ any of it to the bank.
With that, Brennan storms past, leaving Sleater bewildered and delving deep into thought as the volume of what her champion had just insinuated begins to sink further and further into her present mindset.
Daniel Knight: Could it be? After months of watching, waiting, and wondering, could we finally get the return of Drakz?
Alecia Matthews: It’s what the fans want. And it’s what David Brennan wants. But is it what Lila Sleater wants?
Daniel Knight: It’s certainly fodder for conjecture and I’m sure Drakz will be trending soon. But for now we have to move on as it is time for our first match of the evening. Take it away Christa.
Christa Adina: Ladies and gentlemen, the following match is to one fall.
There is a brilliant flash of black light as "Imperial Army" by Gunitdown opens with its pulsing beats, blanketing the arena in fluorescent darkness. As the song's first dirge dips and rises, so do the lights in time with the music - dimming to the truest, deepest blackness at the note's nadir; brightening to a brilliant, glossy splendor at its apogee, followed by an explosion of violet pyro. The lights revert to dark luminescence as the meaty bass melody begins, silhouetting Reina Kenshin's emerging shape. She pauses at the top of the ramp to strike a pose for the crowd, receiving a generous hail of cheers. Making her way towards the ring, she cartwheels lightly over the ropes and proceeds across the ring, mounting one of the turnbuckles at the second rope to pose again before hopping down to stand in one corner ready to face her opponent.
Alecia Matthews: Introducing first, from New York, New York *** the more raucous fans boo Reina’s home town *** …weighing 122 lbs… Reina Kenshiiinnnnnn!
The soft strokes of a piano echo throughout the arena. A pinch of light dims at the center of the stage with a faint white smoke. The notes get louder and louder with accompanying orchestra and chorus vocals. The words "War is God" flash on the screen over and over again, endlessly. The beat drops and the epic orchestral rendition of "Gangsta's Paradise" hammers the arena with a large thud, like an atomic bomb landed at its epicenter. A figure emerges from the stage with a grin of his face.
Ante Whitner glimmers in a white boxing robe, hopping around for a bit of momentum going into the matchup. He shakes out his hands, stretches his arms, and cracks his neck, smiling as he's ready to "redeem" his next target. The "Redeemer" walks down the ramp with swagger and the thunderous orchestral rendition of his classic theme song in the background. He enters the ring and takes off the pale white robe, revealing the soldier he is underneath with camo gear and a propensity for violence. The smoke fades from the arena as Whitner stares down Reina Kenshin and mouths the word “redemption”.
Christa Adina: And her opponent… from Yonkers, New York… weighing 215 lbs… Ante Whitneeerrrrrr!
The crowd seems undecided but eventually the cheers drown out the boos and then transition into a “Welcome back!” chant. ante remains focused on Reina who returns his intense stare with one of her own. They are in their own little world, oblivious to the fans in the arena. If they were aware of their surroundings they would have seen Cameron Stone sitting in the front row, his eyes hidden behind expensive sunglasses but his gaze clearly directed at Reina Kenshin.
Daniel Knight: What the hell is he doing here? He was exiled from the WFWF! He can’t be here.
Alecia Matthews: He has a name and it’s Cameron Stone! Cameron said he would be back. He’s a man of his word.
The referee puts a hand to his ear as if adjusting his earpiece. He looks back towards the stage and shakes his head, then stands motionless for another moment. Finally, he steps between Ante and Reina and motions for them to go to neutral corners.
The reason for the delay becomes apparent as two security staff come out and approach Cameron Stone. They lean in close, trying to keep others from hearing whatever words they have for Cameron. Stone does not look happy, slowly removing his sunglasses. One of the guards places a hand on Cameron’s shoulder and this time his words can be heard.
security: You have to go. Ms. Sleater’s orders.
Cameron slides his sunglasses into the neck of his shirt, then reaches into a pocket and pulls out his ticket. He holds the ticket up for the guards to see, then stands and waves it around for everybody else to see.
Cameron Stone: You can tell Lila that I have a ticket. She can’t stop me from enjoying the show just like every other fan. Hurry up… Go! The longer you stand here harassing a paying customer, the longer Lila’s precious show is delayed.
The guards look at each other and shrug their shoulders, then do as instructed by Cameron, heading up the ramp. Cameron sits back down, turning his icy stare in Reina’s direction once again.
The referee, who had been watching the exchange, signals to the timekeeper for the bell.
DING DING DING!
Reina and Ante get into a collar and elbow lockup in the center of the ring. They try to push each other around but Reina shows surprising strength resisting the bigger Ante. Ante maneuvers Reina into a side headlock. Reina counters, lifting Ante into the air and dropping him on his head with a side suplex. Reina pins around and tries to lock on an arm breaker. Ante locks his hands together and another test of strength ensues.
Reina strains to break ante’s hands apart and stretch his arm out, slamming her boot into Ante’s face several times. Ante continues to fight back, rolling from side to side until he gets to his knees, then to his feet lifting Reina up to his shoulders as she continues to twist away at his arm. Ante takes a few running steps towards the corner and slams Reina into the top turnbuckle forcing her to break her iron grip on his arm.
Alecia Matthews: Both wrestlers are showing off their technical skills in the early stages of the match.
Daniel Knight: Reina has a reputation as a wrestler who likes to hurt her opponents but she does it with expertise and precision while this may be a new side to Ante, a sign of things to come for the redeemer.
Reina bounces off the turnbuckle and immediately blasts out of the corner to clothesline Ante, who spins around in the air and lands awkwardly on his neck and shoulder.
Reina steps back as Ante bounces to his feet. They circle each other, feinting moves trying to find an opening. Reina gets a hold of Ante’s wrist and twists his arm around trying to drive him to his knees. Ante reverses into a hammer lock. They go through a series of counters and reversals until Ante drives Reina into the ropes. The referee calls for a break.
Ante releases his grip and eats a back elbow to the nose. Reina continues to spin trying to hit a discuss forearm but Ante ducks under, grabs her around the waist, and flips her over this head with a release German suplex. Ante drops a knee to Reina’s chest. Reina grabs Ante’s foot and twists it violently, throwing Ante off balance. He falls to the mat and Reina puts him in an ankle lock.
Daniel Knight: The LOGiCAL CONCLUSION ankle lock! Reina is going for broke using her finisher very early on.
Alecia Matthews: It’s so surprising for a wrestler to break out a finisher this quick that it may actually work.
Daniel Knight: Or not… Ante is a crafty veteran with constant ring awareness.
Ante reaches out to grab the bottom rope. The referee calls for a break but Reina keeps cranking away at Ante’s ankle. The referee counts… 1… 2… 3… 4… Reina breaks the hold by hitting a vicious elbow drop to Ante’s knee. The referee yells disapprovingly at her as he gets between Reina and Ante, trying to push her back so Ante can get back to his feet.
Alecia Matthews: Dammit. Reina will not give Ante a clean break.
Daniel Knight: Just like a woman. They’re nothing but trouble.
Alecia Matthews: Like you have any experience with women.
Reina pushes the referee away, who in the fashion typical of our uncoordinated referees manages to stumble and fall bouncing his head off the mat and leaving him slightly dazed. Reina grabs Ante and whips him across the ring. Ante rebounds off the ropes and is greeted by a standing dropkick. Ante wobbles but remains standing.
Reina stalks Ante, backing him into the corner where she hits a barrage of European uppercuts. Reina lifts Ante up and places him on the top turnbuckle, then climbs onto the middle rope and locks on a kimura. She wrenches at Ante’s arm for ten to fifteen seconds but it is obvious he won’t be giving up. Then Reina shows her unexpected strength as she lifts Ante up and over for a superplex from the kimura lock position, landing on top of Ante in a pinning position.

Ante Whitner kicks out!
Alecia Matthews: What a move by Reina Kenshin! Ante’s held together by paper clips and bubble gum. That move could have ripped his shoulder to shreds.
Daniel Knight: Ante’s taken worse and come back strong. He may be a “new man” but he’s the same old wrestler. No matte show much you hurt him, he keeps coming back for more.
Reina slaps the mat in frustration, then look sat Ante and smiles. She gets to her feet and runs the ropes, coming back at the seated Ante for a running knee strike - the Winter Funeral!
Ante rolls out of the way avoiding the knee strike and takes Reina down with a drop toe hold. He drops an elbow to the small of Reina’s back and locks her in a headlock, putting all his weight on top of Reina to increase the pressure on her neck and back while he recovers.
Daniel Knight: Smart strategy by Ante. Slow the match down and let his size do the work for him.
Reina rolls Ante onto his shoulders.
1…
2…
Ante easily rolls Reina back onto her stomach and twists away at her neck. Reina rolls Ante onto his shoulders again for another pin attempt.
1…
Ante releases his hold on Reina and kips up, then kicks her right in the face. He follows it up with a standing somersault leg drop. Ante lifts the stunned Reina to her feet and whips her into the ropes. Reina comes back towards Ante and he jumps into the air, wraps his legs around her head and flips her over with a Frankensteiner.
Alecia Matthes: Fantastic sequences of moves by Ante. He hasn’t lost a step during his time away.
Ante picks Reina up and whips her into the ropes again but Reina slides under the bottom top to the floor. She takes a walk around the ring to gather herself. She notices Cameron Stone, who is standing, pointing at the ring, and yelling for Reina to get back in the match.
Daniel Knight: Stupid girl. She’s just like my prom date, trying to dance with another guy instead of the one that brought her to the dance. Glad I made her walk home.
Alecia Matthews: Oh…kay… too much information Daniel. Stick to calling the action.
Reina moves towards Cameron but is stopped dead in her tracks when Ante comes flying through the ropes, a suicide dive knocking Reina into the barriers where she slumps into a sitting position. Ante lands on his feet and surveys the scene: Cameron Stone standing on the fan side of the barrier looking down at Reina and leading the fans in a “Let’s go Ante” chant. It gets so loud that neither Ante nor Reina can hear the referee start a count.
1… 2… 3…
Ante approaches Reina, grabbing her by the hair and slinging her into the ring apron. He charges after her, lifting his leg into the air for a big boot smash to her face. Reina avoids the blow with a Matrix like move ducking under Ante’s boot. Ante ends up standing on one leg with the other draped over the ring apron.
4… 5… 6…
Reina takes advantage of Ante’s precarious position, jumping onto the apron and dropping an elbow smash to Ante’s knee. He falls to the floor in agony, grabbing his knee and screaming incoherently.
Alecia Matthews: Oh s***! That could be the end of Ante’s knee!
Daniel Knight: My knee hurts from that elbow drop.
Alecia Matthews: If your knees hurt it’s probably rug burn.
Daniel Knight: Rug burn? What do you mean… hey wait a damn minute!
7… 8… 9…
Reina rolls into the ring to break the count, then just as quickly rolls back out to continue her attack on Ante. She drives her knee into Ante’s head several times, then whips him into the ring post. Ante once again falls to the floor and clutches at his head. Reina is relentless, grabbing Ante by his beard and spitting into his face. Then she rams his head into the ring post again. Ante falls to his knees, his arms hanging limply at his sides. Reina props him up so everyone can see the blood flowing from a fresh cut on his forehead.
Daniel Knight: The crimson mask! How much can Ante’s body take before it breaks down?
Alecia Matthews: Ante’s been in some wars before and Reina just let him know he’s in another one tonight!
Reina laughs like a cartoon villain as Ante’s face is slowly covered in his own blood. She strokes Ante’s face, covering her fingers with his blood. She takes her blood soaked fingers and draws a cross on her face, mocking Ante’s new philosophy as a redeemer.
Alecia Matthews: Ugh… sick! What is it with Reina and her opponents’ blood.
Daniel Knight: She is a seriously twisted individual. I wonder if she’s related to Kyzer?
Reina looms over Ante and taunts him.
Reina Kenshin: What a waste of time to be reborn only so you can die again!
Unnoticed by Reina up to now, the referee has started another count and is already well along towards twenty and a double countout. 10… 11… 12…
Cameron Stone starts yelling at Reina again. She looks at him and points at her head.
Reina Kenshin: I’m too smart to fall for your distraction!
Reina flips off Cameron and calmly walks past Ante, pushing his head just hard enough that he falls to the floor. Then she walks up the ring steps and steps between the ropes to get back in the ring and break the count.
13… 14… 15…
The crowd tries to get Ante fired up.
LET’S GO ANTE!
LET’S GO ANTE!
LET’S GO ANTE!
Ante struggles to his feet and crawls towards the ring.
16… 17…
Ante grabs the ring apron and lifts himself up. He reaches up and grabs the bottom rope.
18… 19…
Daniel Knight: Come on Ante! You’re almost there.
Ante pulls himself into the ring just as the ref is about to count him out. The crowd roars in support. Reina isn’t so impressed. She grabs Ante’s arms and pulls him the rest of the way into the ring. Then she grabs his head and grinds it back and forth over the laces of her combat boots. The cut on Ante’s head is opened up even more and the blood flow like a waterfall.
Alecia Matthews: Oh come on! That isn’t necessary!
Reina has a look of satisfaction on her face as she drags Ante into the corner and props him up against the turnbuckles.
Reina goes to the opposite corner and sizes Ante up. Then she charges him for a running high knee strike. At the last possible instant, Ante jumps up and flips over Reina, taking her down with a sunset flip. He goes for a cover.
Alecia Matthews: Another word for “glass ceiling” could be “veteran’s instincts” and that is what Ante just displayed. If Reina wants to break out against Ante, she’s gonna have to avoid simple mistakes.
Daniel Knight: She’s too emotional. You need the cool calm head of a man to stay focused.
Alecia Matthes: Right… thanks for that insightful analysis Dr. Phil.
1…
Reina Kenshin kicks out! Ante rolls away from Reina, getting to his knees and wiping the blood out of his eyes. Reina hits him with a series of hard kicks to his chest. Ante rocks back and forth, a glassy look in his eyes. Reina goes for a superkick to Ante’s face but misses as Ante rolls onto his side. Then he whips his leg out and knocks Reina to the mat.
Ante lunges at Reina, getting on top of her and locking on the Camel Clutch. He rocks back as far as he can, letting his own body weight do the work. The glassy eyed thousand yard stare fades away, replaced by a look of grim determination.
Alecia Matthews: This is the Ante Whitner who was the longest reigning National champion. Ring savvy combined with an unstoppable will to win.
Daniel Knight: Indeed. He may be born again but very little has changed about his style inside the squared circle.
Reina struggles to break the hold, defiantly telling the referee to go to hell when he asks if she wants to give up. Slowly, she wriggles around so that she can drape a foot over the bottom rope. The referee calls for the break which Ante waits the full count before obliging.
Seemingly refreshed and having found new life, Ante comes straight at Reina and starts throwing haymakers. Reina responds in kind and the two exchange fast and furious blows to the delight of the fans.
Ante’s strikes start to have a greater effect than Reina’s. She tries to back away and create some space but Ante grabs her and whips her into the corner. Reina hits hard. Ante charges in for a follow up attack but Reina flips over the top rope onto the apron, then grabs the top rope for support and kicks Ante in the face. Ante clotheslines Reina who falls onto the ring apron.
Daniel Knight: It’s all going Ante’s way now.
Alecia Matthews: He can smell the victory. As much as a win would mean for Reina, it means just as much for Ante because it could put him right back in the title picture.
Daniel Knight: I bet he would love to “redeem” Frank Lynn after the way he lost the Golden Opportunity.
Ante reaches over the ropes and grabs Reina, lifting her up and getting ready to suplex her over the top rope back into the ring. Reina blocks the move and counters with a suplex of her own, trying to send Ante all the way to the floor. At the highest point of the suplex, Ante grabs the top rope redirecting his momentum so that he lands on his feet on the ring apron.
Again the two fierce competitors exchange blows, Reina countering every European uppercut from Ante with a kick of her own. Ante ups the ante, head butting Reina and stunning her.
Ante stops to make the sign of the cross and mouths the word “redemption”. Then he picks Reina up in a fireman’s carry. He turns so he is facing the away from the ring towards the fans and yells “REDEMPTION!” Then he leaps off the apron and hits a rolling senton to the floor!
HOLY S***!
HOLY S***!
HOLY S***!
Alecia Matthews: OH MY GOD! Ante is CRAZY!
Daniel Knight: If he can get up after that then maybe he is fully healed and we can stop worrying about him falling apart in a stiff breeze.
Reina flops around on the floor clutching at her back and crying out in pain. Ante looks on from his knees, wiping blood out of his eyes. He stops to look at his hand and sees the blood.
The referee watches on amazed that either wrestler is able to move. He starts the long slow count to twenty. 1… 2… 3…
Ante lifts Reina’s head up by her hair, scowls at her, and swings a brutal elbow smash to her forehead. He looks at her not satisfied and hits another elbow smash. Reina’s eyes roll into the back of her head. Still not satisfied, Ante drags Reina over to the ring steps and slams her head into the steps over and over. CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
6… 7… 8…
Finally, a look of satisfaction crosses Ante’s face. The ring steps are changing color from gun metal gray to a bright red. Reina is busted open and bleeding profusely.
Alecia Matthews: That’s a receipt! You make Ante bleed, he will make you bleed.
Daniel Knight: That’s ‘cuz he’s a real man. He’s not gonna’ take his lumps and then send out a tweet full of smiley faces and LOLs.
Alecia Matthews: You do realize you are the only person on the face of the planet who doesn’t like Mesh?
Daniel Knight: She’s a silly little girl in a grown man’s business. She has no place here.
Alecia Matthews: We’ll see later tonight when she takes on Frank Lynn, won’t we?
Daniel knight: Frank will put her in her place. Just like Ante is doing to Reina Kenshin!
Ante whips Reina into the barrier. Reina hits hard and clutches at her ribs. She leans against the barrier and eyes Ante, a hint of a smile on her face. Is she actually enjoying this?
11… 12… 13…
Ante runs at Reina and clotheslines her over the barrier into the crowd, thankfully not the side of the ring where Cameron Stone is sitting. Ante takes one look at Reina laying spread eagle across the laps of several fans not sure if this is the luckiest night of their lives or not.
14… 15… 16…
Ante climbs back into the ring to save himself from the count and leans on the ropes watching Reina. She has made her way over the security barrier but fell to a knee and is looking at the ring like it is a mile away.
18… 19…
Alecia Matthews: This is gonna’ be close. Can Reina beat the count?
Reina makes a desperate dive towards the ring and just barely gets under the ropes to stop the count. Ante moves in quickly, lifting Reina up and into a backbreaker. He goes for a cover.
1…
2…
Reina Kenshin kicks out!
Daniel Knight: I’ll give credit to Reina. She isn’t going down easy.
Alecia Matthews: You wanna’ rephrase that. It’s questionable to say “going down” when talking about our female superstars.
Daniel Knight: Sorry, not sorry.
Ante picks up Reina, wraps an arm around her head and then drives her into the mat with a bulldog, again going for a cover.
1…
2…
Reina Kenshin kicks out!
Ante lifts Reina up for a neck breaker but Reina suddenly reverses it into an even flow DDT. She goes for a cover.
1…
2…
Ante Whitner kicks out!
Ante is the first to his feet but Reina rolls him up for a pin, putting her legs on the ropes for leverage.
1…
2…
Ante Whitner kicks out even as the referee stops his count and admonishes Reina for using the ropes.
Daniel Knight: I think both wrestlers have had as much as they want of this match. The pin attempts are coming after every move.
Alecia Matthews: That is how you win the match. I’m not the only one on the edge of my seat wondering who will survive this war.
The two wrestlers, covered in their on blood and clearly worn down by the match, charge at each other recklessly. Ante goes for a clothesline but Reina ducks under and keeps running past Ante, rebounding off the ropes and coming back at him. She leaves her feet going for a double kick to his gut, the Status Quo. Ante jumps up and over the attempted drop-kick and then comes back down on top of Reina with a double foot stomp to her chest. He rolls onto her and goes for the cover.
Alecia Matthews: What a counter! That’s the result of great scouting by Ante.
Daniel Knight: Another cover… is this it?
1…
2…
Reina Kenshin kicks out.
Daniel Knight: I don’t believe it. Kenshin kicked out! How?
Both wrestlers lay on the mat exhausted. Neither moves for quite some time and the ref starts a ten count, the crowd counting along with him. 1… 2… 3… 4… 5…
Suddenly Ante kips up to a huge roar from the crowd. He stomps on Reina’s head, then rakes his boot laces across her face causing fresh blood to flow from the laceration on her forehead.
Alecia Matthews: Another receipt for Ante.
Daniel Knight: This match has lasted much longer than anyone expected… and it has been more brutal too.
Alecia Matthes: Ante’s moving in for the kill. What does he have in mind?
Ante very slowly and deliberately locks on the Bloody Yonkers!
Reina tries to fight the submission hold but Ante isn’t letting go. Ante pulls back extra hard on Reina’s chin arising her face so that everyone can see the pain in her expression through her blood soaked visage. A pool of blood starts to form under her head.
Tense moments pass as Reina fights to stay conscious. Finally, reluctantly, Reina taps.
DING DING DING
Christa Adina: Ladies and Gentlemen, the winner of the match by submission… The bloodied eagle… Ante Whitneeerrrrrr!
Alecia Matthews: It was brutal but Ante Whitner comes out on top.
Daniel Knight: The rest of the roster needs to watch out. The Bloodied eagle turned redeemer is back in top form.
Ante Whitner wastes no time celebrating his hard fought victory, posing only briefly for the fans before walking up the ramp to the stage. Once on the stage, he turns around to face the crowd, spreads his arms wide, and mouths the word “Redemption” one more time. Then he disappears backstage.
A medic tried to attend to Reina Kenshin at ringside but she shrugged off his attentions and stalked her way around the ring while the crowd serenaded her with a “You tapped out!” chant. She looks even angrier than usual.
Then she stops in front of one fan in particular who is reveling in Reina’s defeat. It is Cameron Stone. He is leading the crowd in the “You tapped out!” chant.
Alecia Matthes: Don’t you do something stupid Reina. Let bygones be bygones.
Daniel Knight: No such luck Alecia. Reina wants to hit something and I think Cameron has a bulls eye on him.
Sure enough, Reina strides angrily until she is right in Cameron Stone’s face. She snatches his soda out of his hands and pours it over his head.
Security guards were already rushing down to the ring and they got there just in time to watch Reina to slap Cameron. They try to get in between Reina and Cameron but it ain’t happening. The guards are sent flying by simultaneous pushes from Cam and Reina. The Cameron nails Reina with a haymaker. Reina fights back but the match took too much of a toll on her. Cameron rains down punches to her face and stomach.
More security guards rush down to ringside as Lila Sleater emerges onto the stage with a microphone in hand.
Lila Sleater: That’s quite enough out of you Mr. Stone. Stop assaulting one of my wrestlers or you will be spending the night in jail.
Cameron glares at Lila for a second or two while considering his options, then kicks Reina in the stomach. She doubles over lining her up perfectly for Cam to lift her up and power bomb her onto the ring apron.
The security guards rush in and surround Cameron. He shoves them out of the way as he jumps over the barrier back into the crowd. Stone starts walking towards an exit when more security guards appear in front of him. There are too many to fight. They bind his wrists with a zip tie and escort him backstage to a waiting Lila Sleater, smoke almost literally coming out of her ears as she waits to have a word or two with the former WFWF superstar.
The medic, now joined by another with a stretcher, take their time to place Reina Kenshin on a backboard with her neck in a brace before they wheel her up the ramp and back to the locker room.
Alecia Matthews: I am shocked. Reina can’t keep her hands off Cameron Stone. She’s paid the price twice now. When will she learn?
Daniel Knight: I doubt she will have to worry about a third time. Lila will make sure we don’t see Cameron Stone ever again. I don’t know what he hoped to gain by showing up tonight.
Alecia Matthews:I hope not. Listen to the fans. They’re chanting Cam’s name and “one more match”. Lila should give the fans what they want. And they want Cameron Stone!
