Charlie Strong out at Texas....cant say Im surprised really. He came in with a lot of hype and being in Texas recruits are handed to you and they've been beyond mediocre his whole tenure.

Bummed the Vols won't win the sec east, but they've been fun to watch this year. Good news is they're still likely to play in the Sugar Bowl. LSU should drop behind them in the polls. Auburn should drop behind them after they lose to Alabama and Florida should drop behind them after they lose to Alabama. That would put UT as the 2nd highest ranked SEC team and *should* put them in the Sugar Bowl. Fingers crossed. That loss to South Carolina really bit us in the ass here.

Shame about Strong, I think he is a good coach that just couldn't get everything out of his team when they had teams in front of them they should have demolished.

O H!
Despite the incompetence of our kicker and offensive coordinator, pull out a huge win. Just have to hope we don't end up overmatched in a playoff game.

Every time the fighting Harbaughs lose I want to throw stuff out of frustration but I just have to remember its only year 2. Rule of thumb is 3yrs to turn stuff around and in 2 he's got them as a top 5 team. I just want Harbs to get a Nat'l Title before going back to the League.

I'm probably in the minority, but I want Michigan to win a title too and honestly, they need a win against OSU. I want the rivalry to really mean something and that'll happen if both teams are on top. I think Jim should and probably will stay put. He gets full control over everything with UM that he wouldn't get with an NFL team.

Some really interesting results today for the CFB. Alabama is a virtual lock to be in. As it stands now, I don't see how you can make a case for Ohio State still being in without also including Penn State. And Penn State will look even stronger if they beat Wisconsin to take the Big 10 title. On top of that, Clemson and Washington still look strong. I bet the committee wishes Michigan had beaten Ohio State and saved them a lot of grief.
Personally, I have it: 1 - Alabama 2 - Clemson 3 - Penn State 4 - Washington

I still think the committee takes Bama, Ohio St, Washington & Clemson (assuming the latter 2 win their conf titles). I still think you need to be a conference champion to be considered for the playoffs though. If they're going to start sticking teams that lose their conference in, they need to expand the playoffs and have Conf Champs + wild card teams.

Jeez, the Pitt/Syracuse score. Both D-coordinators will have nightmares for weeks.

Penn State doing their best to remove any controversy for the final CFB rankings. They better wake up in the second half.

Penn State pulled it out in the second half. Same number of wins as Ohio State, a win over Ohio State, and Big 10 champs. They should be in the playoffs. I wonder if the committee will see it that way.

I wonder if the committee will see it that way. Sadly, no. Honestly I think Ohio St is a better team. If osu & psu played 10 times, Id take osu 7/8 of them. However the whole fuss about a playoff came about when Alabama, a non conference champion, played LSU for a Nat'l Title. It got us to the point where winning a conference championship meant something. If you can win your conference now and still miss the playoffs to a team FROM your conference, that you beat.....Then conferences are no longer relevant.

I won't argue that Ohio State beats Penn State seven out of 8 times because I agree BUT Penn State won the one time it counted this year. If Ohio State gets in it is because the committee values the "eye test" over being a conference champ and you are 100% correct that conferences are irrelevant. Thats why I'd like to see the playoffs expanded to eight teams, the big five conference champs and three at large picks made by committee.

My only problem with extending to 8 teams is that a lot of those teams really dont belong. It again waters down winning your conference championship. I mean look at the top 25. If you take away the 5 conference champions, who left can really say they deserve to play for the Nat'l Title? Wisconsin? Michigan? Colorado? I mean I love Harbaugh to death but you lost to Iowa, you lost to your rival & you didnt win your conference. You simply dont deserve to play for the Nat'l in that case.

No surprise today. There was no way the committee could drop Clemson or Washington out of the Top 4 for winning yesterday.

I'm a little miffed that OSU made it in over Penn State but it doesn't really matter, it's the Tide's title to lose.
