I collect for my son really, but I do try to stash an extra MOC figure for him so we can try to get them signed at next years Wrestlemania Axxes.

I keep the boxes but display loose as it looks better more room and I sometimes play with them. I put the boxes in the loft.

Honestly, at 35 I'd feel pretty odd actually playing with toys and making sound effects and stuff like that. Plus I'd be afraid to scratch the paint or break them. I do however rearrange my shelves, place the figures in "scenes" for special occasions, and switch around the championship belts from time to time. The last time I actually played with a figure was probably with the Hasbro WWF line of toys from the early 90's when I was 11 or 12. Boom. More or less my thinking exactly.

opener here. packaging takes up too much space and i hate the fact mattel changes the packaging every year. cant stand the fact that ax and smash are in different packaging than crush. same can be said about dx. so, i open all figures to display loose. Same with me. I liked the early flashback elite 12 white packaging but once they changed it I opened all my flashbacks and legends

Loose collector. Except with certain figures of my favorites then I will buy multiples and keep one MIB/MOC.

If it's something I know I'll never see again, then I keep them MOC. I have a TWD Gareth, SpiderGwen, Jesse Pinkman, Mattel unmasked Keaton bats, Mattel Reeve supes, and a few Batman hot wheels that won't get opened anytime soon.
Everything else is getting opened and customized.
Hell, I by toys for my mom all the time and she keeps hers MOC. I bought her a MacFarlane Iggy Pop that she kept unopened for like 5 years and finally opened it last month to display it on her "rock/punk" shrine lol.
But if you go near her mint SoA figures, she'll cut your hand off Lmao.

I keep them closed, but I try to be not that picky with the condition of package. Whaaaa? Dude that's like getting a Double Whopper with fries and a DIET coke. If you're going to do something, do it all the way. Either avoid bad food altogether or make that bitch count. In your case, I would make sure that package is pristine if I'm going to collect MOC. Whatever though. Different strokes for different folks. I am not from the US so I have to order by mail most of my figures. Sometimes the package arrives with some bents, straches etc. Nothing that big, but I can't get all frustarted and buy it again just because it's not "100% MINT".

Before I use to only collect loose but now I will buy 2 or 3 of a figure if I really like it. I really like the new packaging so I enjoy seeing the newer figures MOC. Also Mattel has been hitting it out of the park lately so I can't help myself!!

I take them out of the box. I like to pose them and stuff. I'm usually not too rough with them because I am not a kid so worrying about paint chips isn't a big deal for me. Anything that I chip can be repainted and if I am that picky I can buy two.

I started off only collecting Elite MOCs that I was interested in getting signed someday, and for the most part, that has been successful. But after joining this forum and seeing so many people displaying their figures, I wanted to do the same thing. But because of the higher price of Elites, I didn't want to go backwards and start getting all the Elites I've missed, especially since most of them are going for a lot more than they originally cost, and understandably so. So instead, I started to collect Basics and opening them to display them. I currently has a bucket full of loose basics until I figure out the best way to display them. So to answer the OP's question, I collect Elite MOC, and open basics to display.

Both. Basics usually are opened and the card is kept. Elite is MOC. When I finally display everything will be open but Ill probably keep the packaging in the attic.
