Justin Tyme Part 2: Contingencies
And that is why it’s always a good idea to have contingencies in place. When you’ve been doing things for this long you know how to keep two steps ahead. Mr. Ahriman must’ve thought he had the deck stacked in his favour. I mean after all he not only had a current active competitor in his corner where Lucas only had a poor ol’ retired phantom of the past. But then speaking of phantoms of the past, out of nowhere and completely unprovoked, our beloved WFWF International Champion Cameron Stone stuck his nose where it frankly didn’t belong. I’m beginning to think that maybe our lives are going to be linked in perpetuity.
Surely it was around this point that Mr. Ahriman was convinced he had all the odds in his favor and perhaps in one way of looking at things, Samael Ahriman did pin Lucas Crowe’s shoulders to the mat for a count of three. The first person in almost a full year to do that. But what Mr. Ahriman failed to realize is that at no point in any of this were the odds ever in his favour.
Lucas Crowe, the Wreckers and myself have been constantly evolving our means of holding onto the WFWF National Championship with an iron grasp. So surely it did not come as too much of a shock at least to you Samael when the newest phase of our ever evolving contingency came into play. Sure the record books will, in fact, show that you once held the WFWF National Championship but I believe, and correct me if I’m wrong, that it might just go down as the shortest WFWF National Championship reign ever. But still you danced perilously on the edge of complete annihilation and while you didn’t stumble this time around, I’m sure sooner or later you will.
So battle lines are very clearly being drawn in the sand and when that happens I prefer to side where the most power lies. But caught in the middle of this entire ordeal, woefully unprepared for what is about to happen in the coming weeks is one Trevor Wolf. Mr. Ahriman, you dragged him into this whole thing so the ultimate end of this young, promising career lay squarely at your feet. But you don’t care, do you? You have your big date with destiny set in stone now. Everyone else is just a meat shield to make your road less bumpy. Just a little corpse-y.
The Wreckers Part 9: Almost Missed It By That Much
It’s not necessarily about what you know a lot of the time but more a matter of who you know especially in this game. It is for that reason that I’m sitting backstage here still holding on to the WFWF National Championship. By the skin of my ing teeth. Justin and The Wreckers are in the locker room popping champagne in some sort of big celebration that I’m walking out of the building as the WFWF National Championship. Still? Or New? I guess it depends on how you want to look at it. All I’ve been able to do since I walked through the curtain though is stare at my WFWF National Championship. Lack of focus almost cost me this championship. I will not make that mistake again. Ever. Plan B will never again be an option. Reo hands me a bottle of champagne and I felt something inside me snap. I took the bottle from Reo and tossed it clear across the locker room. It shattered against the wall, spraying champagne all over and just like that all of the celebration and ruckus came to a crashing halt.
Can someone here tell me exactly what the hell we’re celebrating?
We’re celebrating your win tonight champ.
Win? That was not a win. That was survival by any means necessary. That’s not something worth celebrating.
Come now champ. They tried to stack the odds against you. Not only did Ahriman have Trevor Wolf at ringside but you also had to battle against an unforeseen variable in the form of Cameron Stone. Trace and Drakz corrected an injustice that had just been committed.
The fact that there was an unforeseen variable means we didn’t put enough effort into preparing for this match. The fact that we had to resort to making use of the contingency means we didn’t put enough effort into preparing for this match.
Well Lucas, it was your idea to take some time off from your training to catch a baseball game. So if you want to play the unprepared card you can place the blame entirely on yourself.
His words hit me like a shot below the belt. But he’s absolutely right. Over the past few months I began to train less vigorously. I stopped taking notes on my future opponents. I began to use “one size fits all” type strategies. And the more I won the more relaxed things would get. I was an unstoppable behemoth with all the momentum in the world.
Ever since the match with Whitner you took the foot off the gas and switched it into cruise control. This match with Ahriman is exactly what you needed. You needed it to remember that you aren’t immortal. But what we are really celebrating is the fact that even with him having all the help Samael had, our alliance with Trace and Drakz is a much more powerful coalition. While plan A would’ve been nice, plan B was a success at the end of the day.
And by whatever means necessary you’re still walking out of this building tonight with championship gold strapped around that waist.
Justin smirks and raises his glass of champagne in a toast.
Sometimes the most important sign of success is simply surviving as king of the pride for another day.
This damn guy. Half the time I hate the guy, half the time I don’t trust him… But there isn’t a day that goes by that he doesn’t fill me with a sense of self satisfaction. Reo cautiously hands me another glass of champagne to join in on the toast.
And besides it gives me another chance to say… AAAAAND NEEEEEWWWWW reigning, defending, UUUUUUNDISPUTED WFWF National Champion….. LUUUUCAS CROOOOOWE!
Alright guys. Well I guess tonight we’ll have this little celebration because you’re right. When the dust is settled, no matter how you want to look at it, I’m still going to be walking out of this building tonight with the WFWF National Championship. But bright and early we’re putting nose to the grindstone. this cruise control bullcrap.
We all clink glasses, repeating in unison the “ this cruise control bullcrap” part of my toast. Reo commences to playing some music and the celebration reconvenes with me able to enjoy it just a little bit more. But it still remains that now permanently etched into the back of my head is this loss/win and what the whole thing is going to mean to me going forward.
Lucas Crowe Part 24: Fifty Words For Murder and I’m Every One Of Them
I question whether there has ever been a point in history where “wrong place, wrong time” has ever been a more apt way to describe someone’s current situation. Not mine, of course, but Trevor Wolf. Here is a man that in just his second match with the company found himself in a main event match with a shot at a championship, the WFWF Tag Team Champions failing to acknowledge that one half of the current tag team champions was also the current, reigning undisputed WFWF Heavyweight Champion of the world. Chalk that one up to wrong time. If anyone else was holding those titles, then maybe Wolf could’ve pulled off the huge win early in his career.
But then let us fast forward to Nowhere To Run. This one we’re going to file under wrong place. I’m not entirely sure what thoughts were running through your head when you made the decision to accompany Samael Ahriman to the ring for our match if there was, in fact, anything running through your head at all. That might be perhaps the only explanation that would make any sense to anyone actually. You weren’t thinking of anything, least of all your long term career.
Because now you’re not just on Trace Demon’s “crap list” as he so eloquently put it but you’ve also found yourself squarely in my crosshairs. And after the stunt pulled by you guys at Nowhere To Run with the whole almost costing me my beloved WFWF National Championship I’m just a little bit absolutely livid
But I digress. Let’s just go ahead and play a game of pro/con shall we? Pro: Trevor Wolf is being gift wrapped yet another main event spot in just his fourth match since arriving in the WFWF. I waited almost seven months for my first. Difference being I made the most out of mine and walked away with championship gold as a result, you did not.
Con: Trevor Wolf is going to be stepping into the ring at Dark Matter with six feet ten inches, three hundred ten pounds of pure, unrivalled and fully focused rage. Nothing in Trevor Wolf’s life could have ever prepared him for what he’s stepping into the ring with come Dark Matter.
Pro: He’s got really neat looking body paint and the crowd just loves it. Con: At Dark Matter he’s not going to need to bother because I’m going to give him a new paint job anyways comprised of his own ing blood. You should have stayed out of this. You’re fighting on the wrong side of this war and we’ve passed that point of no return. You can’t come back from this. I will make sure of it.
The Wreckers Part 10: Rebooting The System
Back in the gym, feels like home. Steelheart and I have been rolling all morning and through the afternoon, Reo was holding pads for me to work on striking. It felt great to start shaking some of the rust off that had begun to form from going at it at such a relaxed pace. Finally at about three in the afternoon the door swings open and it’s Justin Tyme. I tell Reo and Steelheart to take a fifteen minute break so I can talk to Justin.
Did you bring it?
I did but I don’t understand how you went about this.
Justin unbuckled a satchel that's draped over his shoulder, reaches in and pulls out a folder. I can’t help but smile.
We were doing all this kind of stuff for you on our end. How did you come to compile this without our assistance?
I undo the ties on the folder and slide the documents out.
Well as you may know, when you’re a champion there are people that are always eager to help. And there’s still parts of this whole thing that I would like to control myself if at all possible.
Justin shakes his head laughing and heads to his office leaving me to read the contents of the folder:
Scouting Report: Trevor Wolf
Weight: One Hundred Fifty Pounds (-160 pound)
Height: Five Feet Nine Inches (-1 foot 1 inch)
Style: Brawling
Analysis: Trevor Wolf enacts a straight ahead brawling tactic to his matches. He opts to use a plethora of high impact moves, including suplexes and powerbombs. His signature moves are strike heavy. He also has a grasp on submission wrestling.
Appropriate strategy: Out-muscle him. Your size should cut out a large portion of his offence and when the strikes start coming he’s going to quickly discover that he can’t out-strike a former boxer and a man that has dabbled in mixed-martial arts. He will find himself out to lunch in a hurry. We have yet to see how he reacts to being backed against the wall but his name would suggest he could come back with a bit of a bite. You never want to corner a wolf but ultimately it could be the crow picking the bones clean.

Sliding the documents back into the folder I lay down on the mat and close my eyes. I visualize the utilization of this tactic and it results in a win every in every scenario. Flawless scouting in my estimation. And it’s all thanks to you. I knew despite how our previous encounter went that at the end of the day you would still have my back. Amy, you are a god-send.
