You know what really blows my mind about that? This world is so cruel and selfish. People are always ripping each other off and doing whatever they can to get ahead. Often times that includes either hiding or lying about tactics/maneuvers that can get you ahead. Yet, this Amazon thing... For those of us who were in the know early on, it was the greatest thing ever. And the few of us who actually had half a mind knew not to say anything about it for the very reasons you stated. But of course, the one ![](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/wfcensored.gif) ing time that it would have actually been nice for people to be selfish and keep their mouth shut, they were posting it here left and right. This one time where being quiet was for the best is when all these people decide to be helpful. Nevermind the fact that they go to Toys R Us and buy EVERY HBK in stock even though no one needs more than 1-2. Or how they constantly bash scalpers yet do the same thing when the opportunity presents itself. But nooooo this one time they'll let the secret out. Sooner or later it'll be no better than buying from Ringside. Sometimes this place can be a microcosm of the entire world in the sense that the majority of its population is stupid and ruins everything for everyone else. How does having that mindset help anyone other than yourself though? I get where you're coming from about opening the floodgates for scalpers who only care about lining their own pockets, but this kind of thing could happen anywhere and at any time. There's no avoiding that subset of the community, because as you know they will inevitably beat us all to the punch. I can't speak for anyone else on this board, but my purpose for being here is to give and hopefully receive in return someday. For me, today was that day. Fighter Hayabusa shared the link to the Mattel Shop and I was able to buy two Elite figures that I haven't been able to find elsewhere since I wasn't looking for them in stores or online when they were first available. If it wasn't for him posting about today's sale, I wouldn't have known and would likely have missed out again. His generosity is something that I can only hope to reciprocate, but none of it would have been possible if he had kept it to himself.

And part of me does agree with it. On the other hand, however, it's a little complicated. When the word got out about Amazon, it lost its mystique. But more importantly, it lost its value. And it will only get worse. Ideally, we would all pay it forward. But you get ![](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/wfcensored.gif) ed over enough, you hit the crossroads... You can either push forward with your rose-colored glasses and keep receiving inches for your miles... Or you can start to show a little bit of that edge yourself. While paying it forward can sometimes work out (as in your case today), you have to be cautious... If you struck gold, what would you do? Keep digging? Or leave the cave to go tell everyone else what you found? Food for thought my friend. Remember, the only thing that gives something value is the fact that not everyone has it.

But more importantly, it lost its value. And it will only get worse. Ideally, we would all pay it forward. And if I saw more of that here and elsewhere in the world, I would probably reciprocate more often. I don't know how old you are. But you get ![](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/wfcensored.gif) ed over enough, you hit the crossroads... You can either push forward with your rose-colored glasses and keep receiving inches for your miles... Or you can start to show a little bit of that edge yourself. But, you can be right too. Paying it forward can sometimes work out and in your case it did today. But you also have to be smart... If you struck gold, what would you do... Keep digging? Or leave the cave to go tell everyone else what you found? Food for thought my friend. Remember, the only thing that gives something value is the fact that not everyone has it. True, and there's no denying the allure of striking gold for a party of one, but I haven't got the desire in me to want to do that here. I don't come to WF to bicker and fight with people; I want to understand their perspective if it's to be understood and to escape the stresses of real life. If I can pass a good deal on to someone else, I'll do it and I won't think twice about it. Now, if there is only one left of a figure on Amazon and I really want it bad enough, I'll get it before it disappears. I would think that is the natural response for most people, and I wouldn't consider that malicious in any way. I'm 27 and I've bought figures on Amazon occasionally over the past 12 years. I collected Mattel figures in stores on the first day, but I never bought any from Amazon until Elite Series 18 was available in December 2012. I paid $17.99 for Lawler and Taker then, but I remember the days of only having to spend $15.99 per Elite figure (October 2013 is when I got Elite Series 23 Savage, Cesaro and Taker for those prices). Needless to say, I miss those days as much as anyone. When you said that it will only get worse, what did you mean by that? Availability or pricing in general?

When you said that it will only get worse, what did you mean by that? Availability or pricing in general? Both. Fair enough. I cannot argue that which I have seen for myself over the past three months in this thread alone. Has the damage already been done? For sure. It's the nature of the beast and I think everyone knows that they've contributed to it. I don't know where we go from here, but I hope that the ride doesn't end anytime soon. There are figures that I'm looking forward to buying this year, and if I have to wait a little longer than usual to find them that's okay with me. As long as the prices don't increase drastically (or permanently), I'll keep with it.

Who cares... They're toys that are mass produced. Plenty of valid ways to find what you need for a decent price. You think if that one person never opened their mouth, the rest of the figure collecting community wouldn't have eventually figured it out and blabbed about it anyways? Cmon guys... Does it REALLY affect your life so much in a negative way?

I have been purchasing figures from Amazon since Elite 17 or 18 also.
I have posted on these boards about findings. I have gotten PMs telling me not to, but I'm a grown man, older than many on here so I pay them zero attention.
I don't think us posting on here has a darn thing with Elite price increases. Every store has increased their prices over the past 2-3 yrs. It's MSRP/Mattel.
As for the recent basic issue with a few figures, I don't know. When it happened before, I felt it was a glitch and still think something got screwed up this time with those also. I can easily be wrong and won't argue that I am right. Amazon's competition is Walmart, TRU, Lowe's, BEST Buy,etc and Amazon's items, like theirs is based on MSRP.
Granted they do lower their prices based on 3rd parties, but just seems like the list price is out of whack on these few figures. Many of them can be found on Ebay like Shiek and others for retail and Free shipping. I don't think the demand is so on Amazon that they needed to raise prices on them.
I have seen much hotter toys, with ridiculous demand and 3rd party guys selling them for 6-7x retail and Amazon not raise the price but limit quantities. (Kaos trap for example)
Lastly, I think there is a misconception about people buying them to resell. There is no money to be made or very little. Few new Elites go over $30 on eBay. Balor maybe was an exception. That is with free shipping so a figure cost $21+$8 ship+$3.50 fees puts you in the hole. You can go check now for Elite 40, 41, HOF3, and see. If you are paying retail, you aren't making money.
Finally, there are several very reliable ways to check Amazon's inventory. Much better than this findings board. Scalpers are using them, or checking for themselves way more than using this page. I don't need to use this page, but it is helpful.
We are primarily helping each other here and have been for years. Chicago has made it easier/better/worse? But I think it is all for the good. I have no trouble getting figures from Amazon and eventually most stay in stock for a while anyway. Divas can be tough. Just my long .2 worth.

I know everyone has their opinion on what findings should or shouldn't be reported but when it comes down to it, this forum and the admins have decided that there should be section fully dedicated to members sharing what they found. So please, let's keep this thread on topic. If you feel the need to debate or explain why someone should or shouldn't post what they found please do so through DM's or bring it to the admins/mods.
Thank you

This is one of the best and 'purest to topic' threads on the site. Can we keep it that way and move the silly debate somewhere else? Thank you.

I never set out to start a debate... Because the damage is already done. I was sharing my thoughts on the situation and got into a discussion with one user ( Chicago ) and I didn't find the conversation to be anything other than cordial. I can't speak for the others who chimed in because I don't really care about them. They make the same, lame-brained "pass the buck" excuses that have been made for centuries. "Ohh if I don't do it someone else will". "Ohh doesn't affect your life that bad so why are you worried about". Blah Blah. And honestly, it's the philosophical side that bothers me rather than the actual situation itself. By that I mean, the annoyance of people finally growing a conscience on something and ruining it slowly over time, rather than applying said conscience in other areas where doing so can actually be beneficial to everyone and not have a blowback effect (like the price increase at Amazon). Yeah, I'm talking to you Mr. "I bought all 5 Network HBKs at Toys R Us today". Let me guess your next line... "I was buying to help other members here". Yeah I'm sure you were. ![::)](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/rolleyes.gif) . But I digress. Anyways, to get back on topic, I've very seldom had any issues with Amazon packaging. Then again I'm not a MOC collector. My main concern ordering stuff online is that I can't see the paint job on the figures until I receive them (and they're paid for). Just make sure you fill out the packaging feedback. Amazon does takes it seriously. They called me once after I gave them some critical feedback about a Vitamix that wasn't even in a shipping box. They refunded me 20% and told me they were amending the policy to where customers will usually be notified when an item will ship exposed (in some cases you can request a shipping box for free).

This is something I need to get better at because I often neglect to leave feedback on Amazon purchases. I've been refunded multiple times for having had the wrong item shipped to me, but fortunately I've never had a real packaging concern. Warped cards are about the extent of it. I think any loose collector would agree that online shopping for figures is much easier when you're not a MOC collector. It's a shame that paint apps are as much of a problem as they are these days it seems, but that's a risk I'm usually willing to take, be it with Amazon, Ringside or whomever else. I could, and probably should, have reached out to them back in late January when I received an Elite Series 38 Roman Reigns without the small barricade connector piece, but it slipped my mind.
