The worry that Cena could retire instantly and the WWE not really have a bonafide star ready to take over is a testament to how poorly they've done at building a new star. Word! The fact that a Rock/Triple H main event for Wrestlemania next year is being considered it shows what a piss poor job WWE have done at building new stars.

They'd be screwed. They've had two potentials to take Cena's spot -- Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31 and Ryback at Hell in a Cell 2012 -- and they didn't have the guts to go through with it either time. There's nobody else on the horizon that is even a contender for it now. If John Cena retires anytime soon, they've got two choices:
1) Get by with the Shield guys a la The New Generation until a potential new megastar comes along, and even then, it's doomed because the usuals will turn on that rising star for not being buried enough, and WWE will get cold feet. If that wasn't the case, Cena wouldn't even be the top guy right now.
2) Turn Raw into an animated show so that John Cena can still be the main character.

If Brock would start working every RAW it would probably be him or Orton. If not either of those two it would probably just be all the Shield guys.

I still stand by the prediction I've been making for years (I know I'm not the only one)... At some point they are going to turn Cena heel. It's probably still a few years away. But it's a smoking gun WWE has had in the holster for a loooong time now. Mark my words. It will happen.
But, to be on topic, yeah if Cena retired... LOL. Like it or not WWE stock/viewership would take a hit for sure.

John Cena is in the twilight of his career, but still, the problem isn't him. Its the company not creating any new stars capable of replacing Cena. Im sorry, but I do not see a John Cena or a Brock Lesnar coming up in NXT anytime soon.

With that being said I could see Finn Balor being big along thr lines of Jeff Hardy

The worry that Cena could retire instantly and the WWE not really have a bonafide star ready to take over is a testament to how poorly they've done at building a new star. That is mainly because everytime someone has been on the verge of true Super-stardom, Cena has been there to derail them. Owens, Rusev, Barrett, Punk, Sandow, etc....... I like Cena, I really do, but the fact that WWE builds guys up only to get swallowed by Cena is disheartening. The only guy who has not faced the wrath of Cena is Reigns.....So it is almost brutally clear as to who will step into the new Cena role very soon.

I personally could care less but I know for sure Raw won't be the same without the Cena routine. It seriously it looks like Roman is going to be Cena 2.0 instead of being his own character too. Now the sad part is that all my favorites are either inactive or near retiring so I guess it's almost time for me to stop watching wrestling.
