So apparently Cesaro is "filling in" for Cena at house shows due to the nose thing.
Got me thinking.
What if Cena goes in to have this surgery on his nose, and while it's being done the doctors find a rare occurrence where something is legit wrong with Cena and that if he ever wrestles again he's risking a permanent debilitating injury. So basically John Cena is forced to retire from in-ring competition immediately.
WWE decides to go all-in with Cesaro. And they legit turn him into Cena 2.0 where he's winning ALL the time, where he's getting 45 finishing moves hit on him in every match but he "overcomes the odds" the kids start to cheer for him
he has some kind of cheeky merch to sell...maybe not armbands or wristbands but something just really douchey he starts wearing different colored shirts, you get where i'm going
So my question is:
Do we all turn on him? and declare him the worst thing in wrestling?

I don't think he'd be considered the worst thing in wrestling, but I can see fans turning on him. Fans turn on pretty much everything.
CesaroWinsLOL would become a thing.

i think people are getting confused. i have nothing against john cena the human being at all, and anyone who takes it that far is a loonie toon. the issue is the company's direction with the character of john cena and how it completely sucks all life out of his storylines, and the storylines of the whole company as nothing is allowed to 'rise above' his level....pun intended.
so, if the wwe took cesaro and put him in cena's place than i would have an issue with the direction of the company with cesaro's character, not cesaro himself. but at least cesaro can put on a far better match than john cena so we would see at least a quality rise in his matches which would possible have a trickle down effect.

I want to say no, but the answer is probably yes.

Of course people would turn on him. As soon as he's no longer the great wrestler guy who's kept down by the machine he will probably lose his appeal. Kinda sad but would be typical.

Personally I'd love for Cesaro to be in the top spot, he comes up with new moves every week is an incredible wrestler and is always entertaining. I would not turn on him.

Yeah. Of course they would. Cena is probably one of the best guys WWE has ever had but everyone hates his whole shtick so much that he gets booed like crazy (depending on location). I don't think anyone's immune honestly.

Probably not. Here's why. People started hating John Cena initially because of his 5 moves of doom. In the past 4 or so years, he has vastly improved and has put on quality matches galore. Problem is, after 13 years of the same gimmick, it doesn't matter at this point he is stale.
Cesaro is 35 and won't reach that "he has been doing this schtick for 13 years in a row" because that most likely would never happen. He has always been a respected in ring talent. He would fall more along the lines of an Orton if they ever pushed him as in Your scenario

I'm sure the demand for pitchforks and torches would double overnight.
Look at Daniel Bryan. Once WWE decided to fully back him, there was a fair amount of fans here who turned on him. Everyone wants to cheer for the underdog. But eventually they stop being the underdog. Then half of the "fans" jump to the next guy perceived to be the underdog. And then the next. So on and so forth....

They wouldn't turn on him because he can actually wrestle. And like a god at that.

I get annoyed when any wrestler gets hit with a s#!tload of finishers and kicks out. I was even getting pissed at Ziggler at Hell In A Cell last year when he kept kicking out of Cesaros moves. Makes no sense how getting hit with 15 devastating moves and kicks out and they hit one move and it's all over.

Wrestling fans are stupid. Sorry, but its true. Yes, they will turn on him. There is always that hipster mentality group of wrestling fans that want a guy like Zack Ryder to be in the main event of WM but if it actually happens, people will move onto the next unpushed guy to moan and bitch about.

It happens all the time and when called on it 90% of them say they never liked the guy in question. So yeah I can see it happening.

Cesaro hits move after move after move after move that would normally finish a match. Dolph kicks out. Dolph hits a superkick and BOOM! It's all over. To me it doesn't make a great deal of sense when one hits a ton of finishers and the opponent continuously kicks out. The opponent then hits one of their finishers and gets a pin immediately.

I thought you meant they were back and forth all match, then cesaro hits a bunch of sig moves , leading to a ziggler win

But the 2/3 Falls Match at Hell In A Cell last year with Cesaro having no luck against Dolph's one superkick, so annoying. I don't want to see that.

Yes, most of the time. Stone Cold discusses this with almost every pro wrestling guest he has on. There's no logic in how they want these moves to be seen as devastating, but they never are.
