Okay, so hear me out. WWE has been suffering a thinning fan base ever since they went PG. Why? It's lost its edge, it's unpredictability. But here's the thing, they have a lot of Attitude Era guys still under contract, be it regular superstars or Legends contracts.
So, during a segment between Cena and Reigns, all of a sudden, glass breaks and we hear Stone Cold's theme play. The crowd goes wild. Stone Cold comes out and starts shooting on them like, "You two prettyboy pissants aren't worthy of trying my laces. I made this company the biggest it's ever been. I know what this company needs. If you want Stone Cold to save this company again, give me a 'Hell yeah!'"
"Hells the yeah!"
And then Mark Henry, Big Show, The Rock, Mick Foley, Big Bossman, Edge, Christian, HHH, HBK, Jericho, Nash, Hall, X-Pac, the New Age Outlaws, Booker T, the APA, Undertaker, and Kane come out from under the ring and attack Cena and Reigns from behind. They completely destroy them, giving them every one of their finishers, then putting them through tables and hitting them with chairs. Then Triple H takes out his sledgehammer and "breaks their legs." (This would be kayfabe, of course, because we don't really want to hurt anyone.)
So, the next week, the AE stars are all in the ring, and Triple H says how the Attitude Era was best for business, so they can now welcome the Authority Era (because they'd both be known as "AE" and that would give them more hits on Google and such). Everyone starts spouting off their catchphrases and the crowd pops huge. "'Cause Stone Cold said so." "If you smell what the rock is cookin'" etc.
In the middle of the interview, the Raw theme hits, and all of the current superstars come out and they're like "You're time is over. It's our turn now." So then you've got this huge feud between the current superstars and the AE ones, dream match after dream match. I'm talking Mankind vs. Ambrose, HBK vs. Daniel Bryan, APA vs. Ascension, Cena vs. Rock, Lita vs. Layla, Rollins vs. Billy Gunn, etc. And this can last like a year.
And, at some point, RVD comes out and he's like, "You guys weren't edgy, ECW was edgy!" So then RVD and all the Paul Heyman guys start the new ECW, and it's ECW vs. WWE vs. AE.
Then at 'Mania, it's nothing but triple threat matches:
Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Cena for the WWE Championship
Jericho vs. RVD vs. Rollins for the IC title
Al Snow vs. Ambrose vs. Jack Swagger for the Hardcore title
And then, during the main event, right as Cena's about to pin Brock Lesnar after an AA, Hulk Hogan's theme hits, and all the 80s guys storm the ring like Hogan, Flair, Honky Tonk Man, Jake the Snake, the Rockers, the Hart Foundation, etc. and they'd just start wailing on everyone. And then Hogan pins Undertaker and crowned the new WWE champion.
And there's your next year of programming. 80s vs. 90s vs. modern era. Think about how many people would love to see Hogan vs. HHH vs. Reigns. It'd be like printing money.
