Van Dam was asked his WWE status. He said he's in between WWE contracts and going to TNA or ROH would breach the deal. He has a valid merchandise deal with the company and intends to return, but doesn't feel like he's in a big hurry to go back. He and Chris Jericho are the only ones who have this sort of deal. He said Jericho has the deal for his band and "because he's close with Hunter, which I'm not." When he returned in 2013, WWE did an amazing job building his return. He had a 90 day deal and did 66 matches in that time, so think about the travel involved. He said that in a regular WWE deal would mean he'd have to keep going. He came back and did a five month deal where he picked the dates that he wanted to do. He could go back at any time. link to the interview www.pwinsider.com/article/95558/rvd-talks-potential-retirement-tour-wwe-status-tna-run-wwe-reviving-ecw-the-elks-lodge-heyman-and-more-ongoing-coverage-of-rob-van-dam-qa-at-midatlantic-legends-fanfest.html?p=1____________________________ Noticed he said Jericho is "close with Hunter" I thought Triple H "hated Jericho and destroyed his career" when he buried him back in 01-02 over the championship

Totally forgot about RVD's existence before this post. His last run to was so dull I seriously forgot about him.

I think Jericho & Triple H had a bit of a professional rivalry but I believe they always got along for the most part. Similar taste in music and both know their stuff when it comes to the business. Just cause Jericho lost doesn't mean Jericho was buried. God I hate how misused that term is.
I like RVD and would love to have him around. I just think that with a deal like that, it's hard to expect WWE to roll out the red carpet and go all in. At this stage he's best used as a surprise with a short run following that. Personally, I'd like to see him with a brief run in NXT. RVD vs Balor could headline a show anytime as far as I'm concerned.

RVD is 44 years old....it's not worth it to go to WWE and do all that traveling and put all that abuse on his body when the storylines suck so bad that he'll just go back to being a floundering mid-carder. I think he's happy to sit home and get his merchandise checks and not have to do anything.
Same thing with Batista. Batista said he loves to wrestle, he WANTS to wrestle, but he was lied to his last run. He was supposed to be WWE Champion, they lied to him, changed the plans, and that the storylines suck and that if he EVER wrestles for WWE again it would be a house show only deal like what Jericho does.

Maybe if they booked him like the legend that he is he would go back. He was pretty much misused the whole time. What was the sense of having him lose almost every match? Does nothing for the talent beating him and nothing for his fans. I met RVD once in real life. I was managing a CVS near the Boston Garden and he came in after the show. He was looking for self tanner and I directed him to an end cap that had been removed earlier in the day. I was pretty upset I blew my chance to become best friends with him by not being able to sell him self tanner.

I always liked RVD but if I never saw him wrestle again I'd be ok with it.

I love RVD but I honestly don't see wwe doing much with him. What I really want to know is why Mattel hasn't given us like a million RVDs, dude had some sick attires.

As a fellow guy who works in retail, that stuff pisses me off and makes me feel like a loser no matter who the customer is. I like how RVD and Jericho just kind of do their own thing; they still have a passion for wrestling and having a light schedule doesn't burn them out on it. I hope more Superstars get this sort of deal moving forward.

I think if they featured some of the guys that they almost never used it would make things seem more interesting.

I still to this day think he should've went over Del Rio for the title. but oh well.
Van Dam could probably go a few more years, maybe not at a rapid pace, but he put on a real good match with Orton on Smackdown a few years ago. And he's still willing to take bumps it seems, seeing as he took at least two or three in the Money in the Bank 2014.
But I'm just a mere wrestling fan with opinions.

that match RVD had with Jericho on RAW
that was like 5-star worthy, completely out of nowhere and flat out amazing

How did RVD get that contract if he isn't close with Hunter then?

If Vince and the writers had half a brain, they'd realise that, let him come back as top level talent. I'd love to see Rollins Vs RVD in a PPV main event for the WWE Title.

How did RVD get that contract if he isn't close with Hunter then? By being a huge ing draw. Besides it's probably a deal he made with the old guard.

I love RVD, but with the way he was used in his returns , and the fact that he said himself he isn't close with HHH , I'm curious as to how he was able to get such a lucrative deal (that I'm sure tons of guys would die to have )
