I was just thinking how times have changed and Mattel said two elites at 30$ are a tough sell and now we pay almost 22$ for one after tax. Seems like a bargain for two. Wish they would of kept the tag team line going and put better pairings.

Yup The elite two packs mostly were not very good. I'd love if Mattel would give it a second chance with bigger classic tag teams with accessories.

Wish they would of kept the tag team line going and put better pairings. Yeah, I don't understand Mattel logic sometimes. They say we won't pay $30 for an Elite 2 pack, but expect us to pay $40 + tax for two individual Elites? They say BAF characters don't sell and that Paul Heyman, Jim Ross, and others won't sell for $10.99, but expect us to pay $87.96 + tax to get the PIECES? The cost of the figures has gotten completely out of control. I remember when Mattel said the prices would NEVER go up as long as we sacrificed the display stands....well, it's been a long years of constant price increases, and the last 6 months has been the WORST it's ever been for Elites.

ill say it again adult collectors are driving this market. once you take us out of that equation, Mattel wouldnt be able to charge those prices.

I just bought an elite at toysrus for over $23 after tax was added. It's awful. $30 sounds like a steal, but that number was weighed against elutes formerly being $14.99-$15.99. A two packbwould have to be at least $35 or more now. Actually, probably would just be the price of two elites with no discount if they did them today.

Yeah the prices are insane. If you think about it we actually have some of the cheaper 6" figures on the market though. Hasbro Marvel Legends are $25.99. (Cheaper plastic/ Spotty QC on most/ few unique sculpts) Neca is charging 25.99 for most of their Predator, Pacific Rim, 8" Retro stuff. I haven't paid retail prices for anything though except HOF. I price match at around $13-16.99 depending on whatever a major retail store website has a certain figure for. I can see elites going up to 25.99 within the next few years but I think that will be the cap.

Not to get completely of subject, but toy prices in general are out of control.
I remember collecting Toy Biz, then Hasbro, Marvel legends figures. Then they announced that they were dropping the scale of the figures from 6" to 3 3/4" and rebranding as Marvel Universe to keep prices down.
At that time, Marvel Legends were $9.99 to $10.99, depending on where you shopped.
Well, the figures were dropped in scale, but the price tag stayed the same. When Legends were reintroduced a little later, the price tag on those had jumped to $19.99.
In short, collectors were told that the scale was going to drop to lower prices, but they did no such thing. We got smaller figures at the same old prices.
If things keep going like they are going, what is an Elite going to cost in 2 years? $40?! When do we say enough is enough?

But yes, the only other two packs would be the legends ones and those obviously did not do well.

If they had done some better 2 packs than they did... I mean, the Bushwhackers were cool, but couldn't they have done some more actual tag teams?
Hart Foundation? Legion of Doom? British Bulldogs? Demolition? Just to name a few.
I always liked my 2-packs to be tag tams... not versus packs and such.

I grew up collecting the Jakks figures, when, in my area, basics were $8 (always with an accessory) and the two-packs were around $15 with several accessories. Three figure packs loaded with accessories were around $20 when my collecting days began. I actually quit at the time when the price of an RA basic rose to $8.99 at Wal-Mart. The jump in price I write off due to the quality of Mattel's product, but it's getting harder to ignore as they seem to keep creeping up.

The rest were good orton and piper were too skinny and Orton had a painted on arm cast. boo. And pipers head sucked.

That is true, Orton would have been done perfectly if it wasn't painted and had a better sculpt, piper also looked too happy.

That was 5 years ago when Elites were $14-$15 now elites are $19-$22 so 2-Packs would cost $40-$45. So there's no way retailers will be on board with that.

Elites are $20, two would be $40. Basics are $10, two are $20. OK.
Three Elites would be $60, four are $50. OK?
Mattel pricing is brought to you in part by S. Steiner.

I would be down for more elite packs without accessories if it kept prices down. We could get some pretty cool repaints of guys like HBK, Bret Hart, and Randy Savage this way.

I pass on so many elites that I want now because I can't justify spending $20+ on a figure of a character I already own or a guy that isn't a main eventer. I used to buy at least 4/6 figures in every set. I've only bought 3 figures since elite 30 came out.

I think with the demand so high for certain figures if they were to make 2 pack elites again the majority would buy
The UK missed out on the Legends Series so we've never had the opportunity to purchase elite 2 packs in store.. I managed to find the rockers for a decent price on the net but things like bushwackers, roddy/orton, sheik/volkaff go for crazy prizes MOC so reintroducing these waves with different characters I think would sell
Nasty Boys Elite 2 pack would be unreal
