Requesting some help: Which tights were Mattel going for with this figure ? I've found a few Hollywood Hogan lightning tights but can't match up the exact ones on the figure. Anyone have any reference pix of the tights Mattel were going to do ? I'm thinking Starcade 1996 when he faced Piper/Road Wild 1997 against Luger ? Looks about right. It looks like Mattel was going for a mix of several different attires for this figure. While I was googling Starrcade 96 I looked up several Hollywood designs and even found that weight belt in black with Hulkster on it, so that's even accurate. I did not remember it.

Why does Mattel do this? Am I the only one that finds it incredibly annoying? It's like they go for the more obscure attires or just mix and match random attires rather than giving us the more iconic ones. Man, I really wanted Starrcade 1997 Hogan to match Sting. Btw do you guys think they gave Hogan a unique torso or the same crap from the hof?

Would have gone nicely with the DM Sting. Just checked. Starcade 97 had the lightning tights. Right leg had "4 life" on it and the left leg had "Hollywood" written vertically. His boots looked like the render but they had his face on the outsides. We can't see that part on the picture, so that could be accurate. Bandana is missing lightning. It has Hollywood correct. They can't use his shirt because it's the "Hollywood Rules" blue flames with Hogan flexing in the middle that WWE says they don't have the rights to because they can't find the guy that made it for Hulk back in the day. Fun fact: Hogan was coming out to Hendrix at this point. He had not started wearing the boas yet. He usually had white and black, but he did occasionally have just white.

Starcade 97 is what I'm trying to put together. They're not perfect, but not terrible...I hope my decal sticks so I can get a clear coat over it. I'm worried the boot surface is too wrinkly.

Doing decals for tights too? While you're at it, interested in making more? Maybe selling? They look great. The wrinkles shouldn't hurt it sticking if there aren't air bubbles, and it doesn't look like there are any.

I made a "4 Life" decal, then I figured I could paint the lightning bolts around it. I haven't gotten to the lightning or the other leg, which looks difficult. (the boots are still wet from the clear coat)

Without decals it's pretty hard to get a Hollywood Hogan looking good, there's too much txt and detailed designs to look decent with just a brush. Think I'm gonna give mine a miss. Just going to paint a HOF figure so it looks like he did here:

What I used: Wrestlemania 30 Basic Head and Arms. Triple H Elite Body. CM Punk knee pads. Undertaker hands. Result (not the best I know):
