Of course this happens a lot in wrestling (Roman Reigns etc) but this one just strikes me as a conspiracy.. Well maybe not that far.
It almost feels like they're brainwashing people into liking the Bella twins (Even though they're heel.. for now at least, again) by giving them so much merchandise, heavily featuring them in video promotions and in EVERY divas segment on Raw and they also have their own pop vinyl figures :/
It's obvious why they get such a push but as someone who doesn't like them anyway and wants to enjoy the divas division again it's very annoying.

Aside from Paige, the Bella Twins are the Divas division. They're going to be heavily marketed just like anyone else in their position at a previous time were. AJ Lee and Kelly Kelly are two other examples of females promoted to the extent that Nikki and Brie are.

It's weird how whenever someone doesn't like a wrestler, that wrestler's success is forced by the marketing machine. But if someone likes a wrestler, that wrestler's success is all organic and down to the wrestler.

That is such a bad way of going about it though when nobody else seems like a star They even let Paige openly say on TV that they're a problem and things need to change.. and AJ saying that ages ago too.

It isn't ideal, but it's just the way things are. WWE will only put focus on whoever is in the Divas Championship picture. If you aren't competing for the title, you're almost nonexistent unless one of the main Divas needs to be put over, i.e. Alicia Fox against Paige yesterday. Right now, it's Nikki and Brie in the spotlight. Next year, it could be Sasha Banks, and people will grow tired of her being the focus. The Divas division will be in this state until Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn aren't the most influential executives overseeing the main roster.

It's only when it's painfully obvious (2005 John Cena) that it's the case, but with the divas it can be done because they're essentially just the mid card sadly so it doesn't have a big effect on the show as it would with someone like Roman Reigns push being forced and badly booked.

She was featured on television just about every week for six years. And in her time period, Divas having merchandise was pretty rare. Not even LayCool, who regularly wore their own t-shirts on TV, had merchandise that I can recall.

People did begin to see through it within that year mind you when he began transitioning into "Super Cena", I do agree though.

I know that's the problem with these WWE people they couldn't give Kelly Kelly a freaking T shirt do you know what I would've done for a Kelly Kelly T shirt? You don't even wanna know.

It's just their moment right now in WWE, eventually they'll fade away and WWE will have a new diva to promote on us.

i completely agree - and i'm generally not a divas fan anyhow, so i have no bias. they are forced upon us - their first run was a total flop and then they got brought back in around the time that total divas show started.

idc they're both awful.
Brie more so than Nikki, but still. Their acting is cringe-worthy.

I can't stand them, but I understand with Divas almost every one of them gets their chance I feel like there are better options right now than Nikki and it bothers me that she is going to break AJ's record nothing against her but she's nothing special.

I pretty much agree with The Bellas being forced as far as popularity and screen time. But, on the other hand, I do have to commend them both for actually trying to get better in the ring. Brie was the best main roster diva not named Natalya for a while there. Right up until she kinda of checked out and started thinking about being a Mother more than a diva. You can kind of tell her heart's not totally in it these days. Nikki used to be completely awful in matches, but she's actually come a long way since then and you can see she's put in some extra work to get better. She's not great by any means, but depending on who she's working with, Nikki can put on a pretty solid match. Can't hate on either of them too much because of that. Sure, their standing in the WWE has been largely manufactured and forced, but that's too be expected. Divas don't get over organically (hell, the guys hardly do anymore). Even everyone's favorite "anti-diva" Paige was placed in her spot once she came to the main roster.

I'm pretty sure AJ was the first Diva to have merchandise in ages, opening the doors for Paige, the Bellas, and etc. Maybe Mickie James was the last one before her?

I think the only piece of Mickie James merchandise WWE ever sold was her used panties.
