Vince also tried to get Warrior in 98 just before he went to WCW, sent him a fax or something at the 11th hour. Not sure how serious either were, if this one is to be believed. What kind of madness would that have been, Hogan or Warrior in the WWF in 98? My kind of madness, my kind.
As was already posted, I think it would probably make most sense in terms of leveraging money, but I have no clue, heard this the other day and thought it sounded bizarre. I bet Hogan vs Warrior 2 would have went better in the WWF though. Makes me wonder if Hogan would have gotten along with the heel HBK of that time, or if it would have been even worse than the Hogan/Nash relationship. Always thought of it the other way around, HBK leaving WWF to join the nWo in WCW.

That could've been a butterfly effect leading to Sting actually ing winning at Mania.

Prichard also wanted Roadkill to face Undertaker at WrestleMania.
Take from that what you will...

This was already talked about in the Classic forum...But since I have been a fan since 87 Pritchard has it kinda wrong. The thing was Hogan was going to be the corporate champion instead of the Rock. Glad it didn't turn out that way.

Great thread. It kind of makes you wonder how things would've turned out with the original plans in tact for everybody involved.

Even though Hogan's star was well and truly fading by this point, a shock WWF return would've been massive. I personally don't care for the Hulkster but it would've been interesting to see how they would've handled a Hogan return.

Oh, god, that sounds awful. That would have absolutely Gronk spiked any momentum WWE had picked up in '98 right into the ground.

Nothing says degenerate like Hulk Hogan. Not unless we're talking degenerative lumbar discs..

I've heard Shawn Micaels was going to lead the nWo. If Hulk Hogan led DX as well, I can't even imagine how things would be today.

If anything he said it.. Others ran with it and now were hearing about it. That man tarnishes his legacy every time he opens his mouth.

Glad it didn't turn out that way. Never heard of that plan before, I did know that Ric Flair was about a hair away from being Corporate champ around that time, so much so he arrived at the arena the WWF were at in November to discuss contracts, but something got in the way and he never was able to talk to WWF reps.

Back then Vince McMahons saying was true: "Anything can happen in the World Wrestling Federation." It's a plausible story.
... But it would've been ridiculous. I can't imagine any scenario where Hogan coming back to the WWF in '98 would've turned out well.

it's certainly plausible. Hogan only signed 2-year at a time contracts during his time in WCW, and he has said he and Vince actually talked about him coming back in 1996, but the WCW contract extension offer of a ton of money for a minimal amount of dates royally trumped anything that Vince and the WWF could offer at the time. indeed, the 1996 informal negotiations actually buried the hatchet between Hogan and Vince, stemming from their issues in 1993 and 1994 ( Hogan's departure, testifying as a government witness in Vince's trial, and signing with WCW). so by the time Hogan's contract would've been up again in 1998, Hogan and Vince would've been on good terms.

Hogan wouldn't ever lead DX.
Maybe he would come in to attack DX and try to take them out?? I could see that, since Vince still loved Hogan no matter what.

shawn michaels would have lost his smile for real. HBK would've definitely refused to show up at Mania 14 !
