It's just like people to blow this out of proportion...
Not that I personally took Booker T's comment the wrong way. But given how Owen died... I can understand how some of Owen's family members might take it the wrong way and got offended. If I was Owen's son, it would've struck a negative cord with me and pissed me off.
Regardless who may have said it, whether they meant disrespect or not, they represent WWE where Owen died and everybody knows that half the things the commentators say on TV is being dictated by the man behind the curtain. Not accusing Vinnie or anything but I can see some taking this the wrong way.
I wonder how Bret felt about it?

I know it sounds like a ridiculous thing to say, and I must agree that Neville doesn't tell a story quite as well but he does pretty well in his own right. He is more athletic, more exciting and in my opinion a much bigger draw. I've always felt that Owen was overrated. A great mid card worker but his career was going nowhere when the unfortunate accident happened. Bottom line, if I had a choice to watch a Neville match or an Owen match I'd probably choose Nevelle, maybe I'm prisoner of the moment. It's really hard to compare two wrestlers who wrestle completely different though. Neville relies on flashiness to get over, which is something Owen never did. He made me want to watch him work based on his character and his wrestling ability alone. Neville makes me want to watch him based on his arsenal of moves. If I wanted to watch a technical classic, I'd go with Owen, if I wanted a spot fest with some crazy flips I've never seen, I'd go with Neville. Really? Everything from Owen from when he left Stampede in 87 till he hit mania 10 was flashiness. Blue Blazer? Same as Neville....which isnt a bad thing. Owen in Stampede? Just like Mike Von Erich...young kid, does a couple flips, takes his lumps....until 91, when he went to NJPW, he was all flash. Moonsaults, top rope ddt's...crazy highspots....Owen's niche, until he got older and slowed down. They seem completely alike at this point in their careers. Backhanded compliments to either of these wrestlers just fuels debate, when there shouldnt be any...they are both good...and like whoever you like. You're never going to convince anyone, just get people more firmly entrenched in their original opinion.
