So I should start off with that I am not trolling on this one. Or trying to get people all ruffled and angry, I am just curious as to why people like NXT so much??
I have watched it. I have the WWE Network and I do catch it from time to time on Wednesday night, and honestly.... I am not impressed.
First of all, two weeks ago I watched it and I saw a girl wrestler named Blue Pants.... really?? Blue Pants?? Is she a backyard wrestler?? And that Jersey guy who looks like a small version of DDP, Enzo Amore or something like that?? And the tag champions look like Hawkins and Ryder when they were the Edgeheads but come off less charismatic.
I don't know, I just don't see the magic that is NXT. I get that Finn Balor is there, and Hideo, and Zayn and people like them, but a lot of the talent on NXT I just don't see the appeal too.
The only guy that I enjoyed so far when seeing him was Tyler Breeze.
So I ask you guys to please tell me what's to like about NXT, what am I missing that everyone else loves about it?? Because I have yet to see anything that makes me want to watch religiously like I did back in the day for ECW.

NXT provides us with what the main roster fails to. Great matches, exciting characters that you can actually get behind, compelling stories and a competent women's division. It's only an hour long so it doesn't feel like a chore to watch. Specials happen quarterly rather than monthly so big events actually feel important and aren't treated like throwaway shows.

IMO its a really good show, not as "godly" as some people make out to be, but its better than most wrestling shows out there today.
The main reason I like it so much is because it has a solid roster(male and female) and every match has some meaning to it, they also don't waste time on the show with countless recaps, and last but not lest, the match quality is amazingly good.

First, the Blue Pants thing is a joke. She was a jobber who came out to wrestle Carmella, and Enzo and Cass introduced her. They didn't have a name for her, so they called her Blue Pants. It caught on with the fans but is a joke.
Onto the real topic, the reason I personally like NXT so much is that it doesn't try to insult me. It's one hour of wrestling and is properly booked. They book with things in the future planned and nothing is just randomly dropped and most people have direction. The workers there are talented for the most part. There are only two or three people in the entire brand that I dislike. Even guys like Enzo and Cass, who need to improve their ring work, have great characters.
The women's division is another big selling point for me. As a fan of SHIMMER, I respect good women's wrestling and the girls there are allowed to work with tons of time and are taken seriously. There are no angles where the girls act like high school brats and there are no nonsense heel/face turns. There is actual character development for people. Take the Sami Zayn redemption angle for one. Take Bayley evolving from star struck fan to legit threat to the Women's Title.
At the end of the day, NXT makes sense. It has talent and they put on enjoyable shows. The two live NXT shows I went to in March were miles better than any main roster show I have attended in years.

I was going to write a long well thought out reasoning, but of course you nail it all perfectly.

I really don't think the characters are that great, all except maybe 3 will be future jobbers. Plus, it's the same formula every week, that's why I stopped watching.

It captures everything that makes wrestling great. Exciting action, lovable characters, and compelling stories.
Three things the main shows often lack.

Most of the characters are developing extremely well with a few exceptions. The same formula? It's a one hour wrestling show, there really isn't much to do to switch up how it's booked. If you mean the stories are the same formula, then you just really haven't seen a whole lot of NXT because there's been a lot of variety in the writing as well. To the OP, NXT is different from the main roster shows. Instead of getting the same crap we see on Raw and Smackdown, we get an hour of usually really solid wrestling and get to see how these wrestlers develop in front of our eyes. It's something that's a ton of fun to see and the transformations the roster makes can be amazing to see. I enjoy NXT because I enjoy wrestling and I like the way it's booked. Pretty simple, you watch something because you like it. You're not impressed by NXT and that's fine, but this exact topic has been made more than a few times before. You could look at the NXT thread and see why people like it so much.

I started late, about July or August of last year. I like Sami, Neville, Hideo, Balor, Owens, Enzo & Big Cas w/Carmella, Vaudevillains, BAYLEY!, Becky, Alexa, most of the roster. Its fun to see people like Rhyno come back or Tyson Kidd re vamp his character.
I never could really get into watching Indy wrestling or even TNA. Ive always been WWE/WCW higher production value kind of guy. NXT is the perfect blend of upcoming/Indy talent on a smaller grand stage. Not every call up has been amazing, but what happens in NXT is still very entertaining to me compared to anything else.

I like it because I like Enzo Amore and Big Cass. Those two are ninja. Im a big New Age Outlaws fan, and they remind me of a modern day NAO. One is awesome on the mic, and the other is more of an athlete. Carmella is just a sweet bonus

People on the internet like NXT so much because it's targeted to them. I personally don't think the TV shows they produce are ever really that good but the Live Events always live up to and in some cases far exceed expectations. I only really watch NXT for guys like Hideo Itami, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor etc. at this point.

It's certainly possible, and maybe even likely, but I don't see how that takes away from the product NXT produces. If anything that takes away even more from the main roster shows.

I like it because it reminds me of the days when things were simpler. Before production was the most important aspect. Reminds me of old JCP days when wrestling was the main focus. It's not uncommon to see a 20 minute match where I have no idea who will win.
Plus the talent down there have more freedom to act out and tweak their characters. Enzo & Cass are a perfect example of two guys I assumed I would not enjoy, and now I run into the room just so I can spell out S-A-W-F-T along with them. They won me over because they were given time to.

It takes a lot away for me, since I know 90% of the talent down in NXT will never amount to anything, I have nothing to look forward too. It's world title or bust for me, most of them will never even be in a match for it. Kinda kills the fun. I enjoy Balor a lot, because I know he has a real chance.

I think "world title or bust" is just an ass backwards way of looking at it though. Is Hideo Itami ever going to be WWE Champion? Probably not, but not everybody can be, doesn't mean I enjoy his work any less because of it.

I know everyone works hard and I'm not taking that away, I just want my favorites to win the world title, and if they don't I get bored, since they are hooked like losers.
