Sandow I have found entertaining pretty much since day one. And have said many times should be either the IC or US champion. Rusev has done nothing in the ring to impress me. I don't care how good his expressions are his wrestling just isn't memorable to me. I watched Fast lane last night and honestly besides the kick to the nuts I don't remember a single move he did last night. And that has nothing to do with his gimmick. The same can be said about the diva match last night. I know I watched it, but I can't remember a thing about it other than I think Nikki was in yellow? There always has to be one.

The timing of this of thread couldn't be better, because last night's match was when it finally clicked for me with Rusev. I think it was easy for me to dismiss him in the past because of the way he's been booked at the stereotypical monster heel, but at some point during that match, the light went on, and I thought "Damn, this guy can WORK!" Not only does he move well in the ring, but he's a gifted storyteller with his facial expressions and body language.
I have a whole new respect for him. I really do. He's on his way to becoming one of my favorite performers.

Didn't care for him when he debuted and was wrestling R-Truth, but been a huge fan of Rusev since he was wrestling Big E and Swagger. The guy just absolutely gets it. He does so much right, his selling, his ring awareness, he's incredibly skilled. Apparently he sucked before NXT too, so the trainers there must be awesome or he's just an amazing student. He's so believable. I thought Reigns vs Bryan was the better match, but Cena vs Rusev was damn good too. I'd love to see him beat Cena and go on to face Reigns for the title, but after making Cena pass out to a submission, I can only imagine JC's getting his revenge at Mania. Mainly I hope Rusev doesn't fade away after the streak/gimmick. He's good enough to be a high level player for years. Bravo. Things like this are my favorite posts that you make. This is exactly how I feel about Rusev. I mentioned in the Fast Lane thread that I love to see him beat John Cena and move into a big match against Roman Reigns. Maybe at SummerSlam or something, where Reigns ends the streak.

I just don't care. Like I used to care. Particularly when they were leading up to SummerSlam against Swagger, and Lana was white hot. Now I'm at Alberto Del Rio don't care. There is nothing being said right now that makes me hate him. Either we've heard it a million times or seen it a million times. This to me is why anti-American gimmicks don't work. They are one dimensional. Which would be fine if this whole deal hadn't lasted a year.
A part of me wants to see this so called streak end so he can have some flexibility. Then I think that streak is the only thing protecting him. He's an amazing midcard heel. So in that regard I'm a big fan because he's a good worker, a big guy, and they've got the character nailed down. Minus the fact he's got Bulgaria tattooed on his arm and he's supposed to be Russian, or representing Russia, not sure haha. In terms of where to go next with him though I have no real feelings. I don't think he's better than Bray or Rollins to be elevated right now, and I don't think they're putting him over Cena. So he's kind of a weird experiment that could go either way after this imo.
The guy is about to wrestle Cena at Mania. So he's made it, regardless of what happens beyond Mania. That being said, I do think it would be an absolute waste if they Kozlov him.
Maybe I would feel differently if he wasn't facing Cena, but then maybe not. The match was good last night but I just didn't care, is all.

Rusev & Reigns both stepped up in a big way last night. Both had big matches with big names and both did a fine job. Both deserve credit, as does WWE for pushing two young stars. Rusev was never one I cared for, but I'm starting to see he is the real deal. His matches with Swagger were fun but he made a statement last night. People can crap over Cena all day, but being in a match with him is proof WWE sees something in you. But getting a victory over Cena means you're a made man.

But getting a victory over Cena means you're a made man. Not just a victory, but a (technical) submission victory. When was the last time Cena lost by submission? No Way Out 2004 to Kurt Angle? Cena getting squashed by Brock at SummerSlam kind of overshadows it, but this result was pretty huge.

I don't know. I get that he's definitely improving but he's just so dull to me. Anti-American gimmicks always tend to be dull, but I think they've dragged this on for too long. On the other hand you feel if they make him lose the streak and the title he's destined to be repackaged as a comedy act.
It's unfair on him after doing so well to improve, but I can only see him going downhill soon.

But too many on here refuse to give Cena any credit at all. That's why I said last night... Rollins & Lesnar made Rusev look legit tonight! Since last month people were praising Rollins & Lesnar for how great the triple threat match was. While completely ignoring Cena was even involved. But in reality Cena just put on two great matches back to back and made Rusev & Rollins both appear legit in the process.

I'll give him credit, Lana too, for being so dedicated to the character. But there's just something not connecting with me, I'm not sure what it is.

Holy crap yeah
Something clicked in the past few months and I finally got over his bare feet crap. He is truly a great in ring performer and can go in that ring. He looked like he was throwing Cena around like a rag doll in a way that I've only seen Lesnar do before.

I do agree about Cena putting on two really good matches. I say really good instead of great only because while last night's match was solid when I watched it there was really nothing about the match I remember this morning from before the low blow. So it really wasn't that memorable to me unlike the triple threat match last month which was a great match put on by all three.

I really don't understand how people don't see it with Rusev. To each their own. The guy is great.

Hopefully a character change comes with him losing the streak, but not as extreme as dancing Kozlov.

Side note, Lana is also really damn good. See, I love Rusev and want to see him as a major player for years to come, but I really can't stand Lana. She's fine at ringside as a manager, I just can never make it through any of her promos. Most of the time I just mute the TV and wait until Rusev's match starts.
