Hey all ... got my new Taker and Kane WM figs from RSC today. They look pretty great. PJ posted extensive photos so I won't bother doing that again.
Just curious as to everyone's thoughts on the comparisons between this Undertaker and the EG one ... of course, aside from the tie (which can easily be switched), which one do we think is more accurate? I keep finding myself going back and forth.
I think the bulky EG jacket maybe isn't ideal, but his jackets were bulky looking in his early years. The form-fitting plastic jacket may look a bit better on a figure but maybe isn't as accurate.
I personally like the grey gloves on the new Taker, because that's how I remember him. But I think the head on the EG one might be better.
Any thoughts? Help me figure out which one to display prominently, lol!

The only thing I like better about the EG Undertaker is the eyes. Otherwise, it's the WM31 Taker all the way.

I prefer the EG head, tie, and shirt. If I can do a glove switch, I think it would be perfect. I display mine without the jacket btw. Neither one is accurate to the time

To me Taker needs to be grey gloved. And the molded shirt is much better than the eg cloth shirt. The only thing the EG figure surpasses the WM31 is the paint application to the face.

Personally, I'm going to be taking the head from the entrance greats and putting it on the elite WM body. I like the EG coat better as well, so the elite will be getting that along with the tie. In my opinion, by combining the two you can get the perfect gray gloved taker

Get a fabric coat from the late Ralph, it will make your Undertaker figure sooo much better!

I've never been an undertaker fan but I would say the western mortician look with the gray gloves is the most iconic

To me the EG jacket looks like faux leather, and mortician Undertaker always wore cloth. I agree with hb2k4life on this one. The real fabric coat is the only way to go. The paint app on the WM31 version does not make him look intimidating at all, and this Undertaker was very intimidating. Just look at the eyes of the EG Undertaker. Dude looks pure evil. I agree with what others have said: a combination of the two is ideal. Since you can't tuck in his EG cloth shirt, it's no good in my opinion unless you put a belt around his waist to cover it. I have one of the older black-globe winged eagles on my EG. Now I'm gonna change things up.

the most iconic is in grey from survivor series 1991. The WM31 is not complete... he deserve tatto, tie and belt

But if they went for the SS '91 look they would have needed a new head, because he didn't really have the mullet then. He had longer curly hair that was in his face.

Thanks for sharing the pic above. Around the time The Undertaker started his feud with Jake The Snake (late '91 / early '92) I think he was coloring his hair also. His hair was no longer a mullet or curly, but long and straight and it looked very dark, almost black, and very wet. So, I think a straight head swap might work from the Purple Glove Undertaker to the WM31 one as well. The facial hair might be a problem though.

Comparing the EG Undertaker to the WM31 one, I swapped some things around this weekend and have decided to leave the WM31 Undertaker as is. The EG is not a bad figure, but all in all, I think I prefer the WM31 look overall. Love him standing next to Paul Bearer. I only wish Mattel would release backdrops for sets like the Funeral Parlor, Piper's Pit, etc.

EG is iconic because it is a perfect representation of his debut. The only things you could add to it are Brother Love and switch the jacket for cloth.
WM 31 has his more we'll know grey gloves, but has a weaker paint job on the head and is missing the tie.
I say take the tie and head from the EG, put it on the WM 31 and you'll have a perfect early Taker.

The problem with a head swap is the EG figure is noticeably darker than the WM31 skin tone.

I like his EG one more. Maybe because it's the first Mattel I bought back in 2011.

the entrance greats would be my choice..the head on the eg is a lot more detailed than the new wm elite.
