Who's the licensor? WWE or does Mattel give WCT a sublicense. I can see Mattel sticking it to WCT.

I totally think it's Mattel. They own the mold that WCT uses, and they probably get backend dollars from the sales of the ring. Putting out cages without the ring would likely take away from Mattels $$$.
This was definitely an "I'm going to squash you like an ant" situation.. Why else would WCT release COMPLETE images of the "Accessory Packs", and full packaging, then have to go back to the drawing board, repackage everything, change graphics, and what's included in each box... Why on earth would a growing company make that "MISTAKE" with licensor restrictions. You'd think any normal person would verify and understand licensor restrictions PRIOR to making a product, and officially announcing it for release.
Now I'm in a predicament in which I have to buy two more rings to get the cages, or pay scalper prices online at some point to get the cage individually. I'm pretty pissed about it as I purchased the ASR specifically because of the accessory pack announcement. Had I known the ring was included I would have waited, as would a ton of people. It's a BS move..

As much as I want the cage, I'm not paying $80 plus for another ring. Just not doing it.

That is NOT good business at all. Screws those of us who already bought rings, and puts a huge sticker shock on a complete package which will make a lot of folks stay away. I have two rings already, one was going to get the modern cage set and one the classic. Guess how many I'm buying now?

I bought my 2nd ring once I found out about the packs and was going to have a current ring and a flashback ring. HUGE disappointment.

I'll just be getting the classic ring now. Although I have the original ESR, I was really tempted to buy the modern cage to go along with it, but I don't need 2 current rings.
No biggie, I like the blue cage better anyway

Not good news, especially for us UK collectors...the ASR is around £60 atm at retail, add a cage in with that....not good...WCT have shot themselves in the foot here. I'm sure a lot of people bought the ASR knowing these cages (originally advertised as separate accessories) were being released. How many are they likely to sell now (especially at full price?) Disappointing to say the least.

Damn it. My chances of getting these now as Gorilla Monsoon would put it are "highly unlikely"

This is actually good news. Maybe we will have accurate post colors and turnbuckles!

Maybe turnbuckle pads. I never saw ring posts mentioned. If they were, it would only have been the post. The connector and legs wouldn't have been accurate to the classic ring.

I hope this new ring is at least the updated version with the better ringmat design & hopefully some better ropes.

Ouch. For $150+ I'm better off making my own cages and rings from scratch.

F*ck them! I was considering spending my hard earned money on an ASR but now forget it. Going to make my own custom ring for $40 and my own BETTER custom cage for probably another $20. You lost A LOT of business idiots!
