EDIT: Fixed title to make it more accurate. I couldn't fit this title along with the note about this not being written by Mark Madden so I changed it to lie, which clearly was a bad move.

I don't recall them ever saying that they had a million continuous subscribers. It's kind of like the WWE App back in the day. Weird how it jumped a half a million every week, eh?
If they did say continuous then egg on my face. But I don't think they said that.

I find it funny that WWE announce their subscribers numbers right after the #CancelWWENetwork hashtag was trending worldwide.

I find it funny that WWE announce their subscribers numbers right after the #CancelWWENetwork hashtag was trending worldwide. In all fairness, they had announced they would be revealing a new count about two or three weeks ago.

I honestly can't believe the network hasn't been a smash success. I know I for one would be very bummed if they stopped it.

A service like Netflix has something for everyone, all kinda of movies and tv for a similar price point. WWE shouldn't have included the live monthly PPVs in with the network. They've really shot themselves in the foot with that.

But even despite the fact that they aren't trying to appeal to the general public, wrestling it's self still has a huge fanbase (sure not as big as it once was) but 80+ thousand people filling a stadium for WM lets you know we still have a large group. It makes me sick all of these people who either refuse to get it and keep watching for free elsewhere or those who cancel because they are butthurt over some creative decisions.

Plenty of people tune in to watch free Raws, but PPVs have rarely had as many viewers as their free stuff.

If they don't like what the WWE is doing, why should they pay for it? Are you not familiar with the phrase vote with your dollars?

WrestleMania is a once a year spectacle of wrestling that every wrestling fan tries to go to. One 80k stadium a year selling that to a global audience whereas football (soccer) has tens of 30/40+k stadiums that are filled/nearly filled weekly majoritvely by the local city. Wrestling has a very grand presentation but the fan base foundation is really niche and the casual raw/smackdown family fan won't need the network.

I actually cancelled The Network after the Rumble but had planned to do so before the hashtag thing. My basic, short and simple reasons are: 1) It's not compatible with Chromecast, so I have to watch it on my laptop. If I could use Chromecast to send it to my television then I might go back to it. 2) I realized that I got it for NXT but that and other shows are on Hulu +, which I also have and will keep so I can watch other television shows because I don't have cable. I got The Network back in November when it was free and was watching it a lot that month, then not as much during December and the first time I remember going to the site for it in January was the Rumble so I just concluded it wasn't necessary. I highly doubt that *I* will do something so as to make it compatible with my television so for me it's on their end to make it work with Chromecast because both Hulu + and Netflix do. Geez, even YouTube works with Chromecast and it's mostly free.

I didn't want Roman to win either. But I'm not gonna shoot myself in the foot just to "prove a point to WWE"

There's no way in hell that the PPVs over the past 8 months(with the exception of SummerSlam & Survivor Series) have been worth the $55 & up price tag. Most of the PPVs before the launch of the Network were utter garbage and carried that $55 price...$9.99 is a far more reasonable price.

I didn't say they were worth that, but they've shot themselves in the foot. They're charging a fraction of what they were charging, they now can't go back to the bigger price when (or more optimistically if) the network ends so they're making a ton less money now.

The WWE should have just kept WWE Classics On Demand. It was seen everywhere, and had little to no problem getting people signed up to it.
They didn't have to include their WWE PPVs a part of the Network. What they should have done is air the PPV live on cable and satellite companies on the Sunday, and put the event on the Network on Tuesday.

One thing that baffles me is the so called wrestling fans that want the network to fail. The ones that are happy to take shots at it or to discredit the success it's had.

is anyone really surprised by this?
from the company that claims it's own App has been downloaded....what are we up to now? 14 million times? Yeah i think as of 2 weeks ago it was 14 mil. They don't bother to even hint that it might be a bunch of re-downloads, etc. They just can't wait to claim that crazy number!
they sell things as they appear instead of as they are. and it makes them look completely stupid in the process.
