Hi,
I have just got a lot of my figures out from storage that I had to put away while we were decorating.
I've bought some brand new Detolfs to display my Mattel collection in and am just sorting through my figures.
I'm absolutely gutted that a few figures have now got black marks/smudges on them. I was very careful packing them away but it must be contact between figures with the old cloth shirts where the dye has marked.
What is the best way to remove or cover these marks? Some of these are quite rare figures so replacing them probably isn't an option.
Thankfully the marks are on the skin part of the figures (arms, face) and fortunately it is direct on the plastic - not painted on skin colour.
I have tried a little nail polish remover but this hasn't worked, however it could be a fairly weak concentration as its from the girlfriends make up box.
Is nail polish remover the way to go? Could I paint over the marks (never painted a figure before) or would they sand off?
Im entirely in your hands guys if you can help me out. What are the best ways you've found of successfully removing marks?
Or am I screwed??
Cheers

Cheers guys.
I've never heard of goof-off. I'm in the UK is it an American product?
I'll have a look on ebay see if I can track some down.
I've tried an eraser, a couple of marks have faded slightly but still there.
I've been through all my figures now and there are only 3 affected ones, but they would have to be 3 of my best ones - SDCC Undertaker, RSC exclusive Stone Cold and E2 Triple H
It was Yokozuna's robe that has rubbed off onto the other figures!!

Acetone on the tip og a qtip
Works quick and dries as your using it.
Try not to get it on any painted Surfaces, or cloth.

Dip a cotton bud in acetone and lightly rub over the marks. That will solve it.

If it is just black smudge marks between figures like you would get if playing with them then get a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. You just wet it and the marks come right off.
No need for Acetone or Goof Off that could damage the figure. If you go that route, the Goof Off is less damaging to the plastic and works better in my opinion. If it is off of Yoko's robe then you probably will need goof off or acetone. You can try the eraser, and if that doesn't work then try the others.

For the cloth stains there's nothing I found to help, but for everything else it's acetone or acrylic thinner.

Rubbing alcohol works best. I've used it numerous times on my figures. Works best!
