TBH, I've never understood what the big deal is about LJNs. They don't look good, they can't really be played with (I was around for the tail end of the line, Hasbro's were more my time) and many of them can't be displayed well. Too bad for you then... I collected the Hasbro too but they weren't the same. We could literally BEAT the crap out of these figs - we'd never had figures like this before. Everything was in the 3.5 scale... Like I said, if you don't know then you just don't know. It's something you had to experience...just like the era itself. The Mania's, the ljns, the cartoon, the SNMEvents... by the time the hasbro figs came it was REALLY cartooney and really entertainment but the initial horse out the gates was just incredible. As much as people hype the A/E - it has NOTHING on the Hogan/wwf explosion. Violence, foul language and smut can't hold a candle looking back. The LJN and hasbro aren't THAT far apart but I believe the hasbros came out after wm 5 or 6... Jesse did the first commercial and I think it was on the tape for WM 5 where I first saw them and was like OMG I GOTTA have those!!! They we're more action-y...but still that was like 5 years into the boom...so STILL a somewhat different wwe (but not drastically). Things changed when Taker showed up. After that it was over the top city

thats awesome now i kinda wanna hunt down LJN series 1 and Mattel absolutely should make a Flashback BJS...give him a robe or a duffel bag with play money...anything and we need another Snuka...in proper attire If STUDD isn't a candidate for a DM figure then I dunno WHO is... WM 1? Andre vs Studd, body slam challenge. Red Robe and bag full of money. He'd prob need some new parts so I think he'd fit there (or just make him a flashback...althoughhe did win the first PPV'd Royal Rumble - they had big plans whihc he p*ssied out on again - so he can have a double dm bio)... If Ricky Steamboat in his ridiculous dragon outfit can get a dm figure then BJS should have one. I also like to think we should watch out for the other products wwe puts out as signs of who's on the nice list and not the notty one. We all sparked up again over the OMG proto that was brought back up and wwe just released the GIANTS dvd/blu ray (which was pretty good. Gotta love the old REAL legends). Anyways, OMG was in it and BJS gotta nice little section too (even if Vince does think he's the biggest p*ssy ever lol)... Wwe has a way of altering history to the way Vince wants it so it's nice when people aren't over looked due to pettiness... Hey even an Ernie Ladd could one day find it's way - he's always held in high regards.

I loved Hasbros as a kid but I'm but too crazy about them as an adult either. But getting back to the LJNs, I just don't get the hour about gigantic rubber statutes. Like I said, they couldn't really be played with add many of them don't display well since they don't stand up on their own, so what do you do with them?

Cool thread...loved LJN's. The early to mid 80s was a magical time for me. I still have all my LJN's. Definitely want Big John Studd. Collection won't be completed with out him!

Good stuff, when I was younger my older brother took my ljn snuka and used sand paper to take his trunks paint off so he was essentially naked. Needless to say he won zero matches when I played with him after that...

Most amazing is how good of conditions your ljn's are in 30 years later! Btw, random: was Brett Hart reissued on a 1989 black card? Wikipedia says yes, but I've never seen ANY proof! I own all the LJN's and I don't ever remember seeing a black carded Hitman. I don't think he was even wrestling as a singles performer then. However, I believe LJN made blue carded single packs of Hitman and Anvil as well as the tag team Hart Foundation boxed set. They were working on splitting up the Hart's in 89 they were wrestling singles alot on Saturday mornings and were even on two different teams survivor series 89. You are definitely correct about the singles blue card hitman & anvil they go for nearly as much as black card warrior & black card Savage. IF a black card Hitman does exist it has got to be the rarest ljn of all time.

I never owned these myself, however, my younger cousin had a bunch of them handed down from either our uncle or a second cousin, so we played with them a lot. I remember he had BJS, JYD, Shiek, Volkoff, Snuka, Andre, Piper and a few more that escape me right now. Those were beefy figures, no articulation, but still fun as hell. We were the perfect age when the Hasbro figures came out, so there were a bunch of those to play with, too. Simpler times...

Big John Studd is way up there on my list of wants now. This one has got to happen. The LJN line was very diverse and gave you alot of offerings. Pretty neat line for it's time. I would love to own a LJN set but the MOc ones are so expensive and the loose ones always look so beat up and nasty lol.

Is that Big Boss Man real? His head in comparison to Rick Martel's is that of Rocky Dennis.

The LJN figures had so much character. It was the LJN Hulk Hogan that got me into wrestling.
Also, I'd love to have that post-jail Ken Patera. He was a big favorite of mine when I was a kid. Watching him come to the ring to the Olympics theme just made him seem like a big deal. I'd even love to have a Corporal Kirchner. I'd take either of them over Billy Jerk Haynes.
