A generic set actually. This IWA Star Studded Wrestling bendies set was made in 1985 by Diamond Toymakers (also made the Schwarzenegger Commando figs). For a generic set a lot of work was put into them. The complete set is made up by 9 figures: 4 faces, 4 heels and 1 variation. They are scaled (stand around 3") and all of them had their own biography. Then there's the awesome scaled ring (10" x 10"). The figs came single carded, boxed by four (one faces box and one heels box) or in a boxset ring with 2 figures. The figures: The faces: Bulgarian Blimp Iron Barbarian Killer Klondike (had a red lips variant) Major Disaster The heels: Kamikaze King Kongo Russian Wolf Suicide Sheik Shown in the picture on ebay: top row: Bulgarian Blimp, Kamikaze, Killer Klondike, Major Disaster bottom row: Suicide Sheik, Russian Wolf, Iron Barbarian, King Kongo A nice complete set, minus the variant and ring. Mine: left to right: Major Disaster, Russian Wolf, Bulgarian Blimp, Kamikaze, King Kongo and Killer Klondike.

Figurecollector: you have Killer Klondike in the red lips variant boxed and loose. I rarely see the red lips variant

How is the quality of the ring Ruby Fusion? Can you give any other info? Size? Maybe some close up pics

I vaguely remember owning the Sheik, Congo and Klondike. I didn't know the same company was behind these and Arnold's Commando figures. The 6" Commando figure was one of my favorites as a kid. I know I still have him in my closet.

I love coming across knockoffs I've never seen before! No idea these existed... In this case I prefer the term "generics" over knockoffs/bootlegs; they don't pretend to be WWF or AWA figures. They're just made up wrestlers for a made up federation. Yes they use gimmicks popular in the '80s, but nobody calls Corporal Kirchner a knockoff Sgt. Slaughter (military gimmicks) or Nikolai Volkoff a knockoff Ivan Koloff (russian gimmicks). Where these made to cash in on the popularity of wrestling? Of course! But these generics deserve their own spot in a collection: like every selfrespecting figures from the '80s they were different characters, each with their own biocard: obligatory in the '80s, whether you were a soldier, robot or wrestler! Close up pics will have to wait: mine are packed away. The ring looks surprisingly small (10" x 10"), but since these somewhat scaled bendies stand around 3" the ring is a perfect match for them. Since these are bendies, the ring is sturdy enough for them, although LJN Bendie King Kong Bundy would probably trash this ring (also keep George "the Animal" Steele away from the turnbuckles! ), besides he'd tower over these Star Studded Wrestlers anyway! IIRC the ring doubles as storage.
