Chase has been holed up in his hotel room since he joined Jayson Garrett last night. Thinking about how this may be the last chance to prove himself. He cannot let Garrett down by losing the match. Garrett has worked too hard for Chase to screw it all up like he usually does.
He is unsure about how much trust he can place in Garrett since Garrett is working with the police. He denies it but why would he say it's true? Admitting it would only cause problems and there is no need for other problems right now.
The only problem that needs attention right now is Kokaine Konspiracy.
It was time for Chase to return to WFWF. But how would he return? If his partner got in trouble he would need to help. The rats were an insurance policy. In place in case he wasn't around to help. He knew after the rats were loose he would return.
Kokaine Konspiracy's heinous attacks on WFWF superstars are the stuff of legends. Chase had to know one day they would come for him and Jayson Garrett. How do you prepare for such monsters? There may not be a way to prepare for them. You just have to pull out all the tools and if need be, sink to their level.
The rats were in place, not specifically for Kokaine Konspiracy, but they were a mighty tool in the start of the war. The rats thwarted their attempt to give Jayson Garrett the most vicious beat down they've ever given anyone.
There has been a back and forth ever since the war began and Kokaine Konspiracy set their sights on the tag titles. They viciously attacked Garrett before Chase unleashed his own security force, his army of rats. Chase finally returned after a prolonged absence to help Garrett fight off DMK's security force. Then a chair attack to Zmey and Ahriman at Men & Monsters. Zmey pinned Chase and Ahriman bloodied and beat Garrett at Black Friday. Kokaine Konspiracy stood tall on the last show but this is the PPV. It's time for Hollywood Unhinged to go forth and give back.
They may have started the war but it will end with Chase and Garrett conquering their biggest challenge to date. Chase and Garrett will stop the destruction Kokaine Konspiracy has reigned down upon WFWF.
It's time for Chase to make up for is disappearance. It's time for Chase to prove his worth. It's time for Chase to help his team remain tag champions.
Chase looks over at the clock. 5:59 AM. Chase is not usually in bed this late. He's usually already out of the house doing God knows what. But he's still in the hotel because no matter how wary he is of Garrett he cannot cause anymore problems for the team.
6:00 AM. The phone rings in Garrett's room. Chase jumps out of bed and dashes to the door. He puts his ear against the door hoping to find out who is calling and why.
He can only hear faint mumbling. He can't hear any of the conversation. When the call is done, he'll leave the room and maybe Garrett will say something about it. He still hears the mumbling then the sound of the phone being hung up. Chase waits a moment then leaves his room.
Chase joins Garrett but Garrett is quiet, obviously ignoring Chase. Chase doesn't want to prod him about the phone call but figures it must have been the police if Garrett is being so avoidant. It's a good thing Chase brought the badge along or else the police might have found it while he was out of the country. Being out of the country would give them a lot of time to find it. Maybe that's why they called. They want to find out if Chase has the badge. If Garrett says yes then they don't have to look. If Garrett says no then they'll tear apart everything Chase owns to find it.
Chase is thinking about how to go about this. Should he just tell Garrett that he has the badge with him? If he starts to talk to Garrett about it then he'll surely call the police. But that would be confirmation of what Chase knew all along. Garrett is working with the police. Is the risk worth it? Yes. If Garrett calls the police that means he's been lying. Why should Chase continue helping someone who betrayed him? If Garrett calls the police then it'd be time for Chase to disappear again but this time he wouldn't tell anyone, not even Susannah Frame, where he's at.
Chase goes back to his room to get ready. When he's done he grabs the badge and puts it in his pocket. He's still thinking whether or not to tell Garrett.
During the drive to the building Chase decides to tell Garrett. He pulls the badge out of his pocket. He's sitting in the passenger seat, sweating, trying to find the right words. But before he can, Garrett says something.
Garrett, "Chase, what's going on with that rock?"
Chase, "It's not a rock. It's a badge."
Why does Garrett insist on calling it a rock? What game is he playing? The police would love to know about the badge but he keeps calling it a rock. Maybe all this pressure is getting to him and he's starting to lose it. Thinking a badge is a rock. That's not a sign of good mental health. Maybe Garrett needs some professional help.
Chase, "How could this be a rock?"
Garrett, "How could it be a badge?"
Garrett's going to worry everyone if he keeps seeing things. It starts out like this. Him seeing a badge as a rock. But what's next?
Chase, "I need to get rid of it."
Garrett laughs. He laughed. Why is this funny to him? Is he laughing because that's what he needed to hear to rat me out to the police?
Garrett, "Rocks are pretty heavy, Chase. I'm sure it's annoying to carry it around."
Chase, "No, this is evidence."
Garrett, "What? How could a rock possibly be evidence?"
This game he's playing isn't funny anymore.
Chase, "This was the police officer's badge. I can't let anyone know I have this."
Garrett doesn't say anything. He kept driving and honked the horn.
Garrett, "It's not a badge. It's a rock. It's a rock. It's a rock. How do you see a badge when it's clearly a rock?"
Garrett is really upset. He keeps honking the horn and someone yelled from another car for him to stop. He yells back at that person. Garrett is not well. Maybe if I keep talking I can calm him.
Chase, "No it's not. This isn't a rock. It's a badge. It has the police officer's name on it and everything, and now I need to get rid of it so you don't use it as evidence against me."
Garrett, "What kind of evidence?"
Chase, "I can't tell you or you'll tell your cop buddies and I'll be locked up with only my thoughts. I can't do that. I can't be alone with my thoughts, Jayson. Not after being in the hospital. I escaped for a reason."
Garrett stared at Chase for a moment then returned his eyes to the road. He's quiet. He's obviously thinking about what to do next. Does he help or does he say something to the police?
Garrett, "You didn't escape from anything."
Chase, "I need to get rid of this."
Garrett rolled down Chase's window.
Garrett, "Then get rid of it. Throw it out the window."
Chase, "They'll know. They'd know where it is. I'm sure they're here, making sure you have an outlet if they think I'm going crazy."
Garrett, "The police meeting had nothing to do with you. I'm not turning you in. It was just a one off meeting to see how you're doing."
Chase, "So it was about me. Really? Did they tell you to lead me to the arena and turn me in?"
Garrett, "Chase, no, my God, let me finish. They wanted to know if you were ok since they knew you were in the hospital."
Chase, "But I escaped, how would they know Jayson?"
Garrett, "You didn't escape. You were signed out."
Chase, "I esca-"
Garrett cut Chase off.
Garrett, "Don't talk. Just listen. It doesn't matter what I think. We have the tag titles. I'm not going to be able to defend them by myself. I've tried. You want redemption as much as I do. Why would I not let you fight? I want these titles too."
Maybe Garrett does care after all. Maybe he is trying to help.
Garrett, "Just do us all a favor and toss the rock."
Chase, "Badge."
Garrett, "Chase, it's a rock."
Chase, "No, it's not."
Garrett, "It doesn't matter. We're thousands of miles away from Seattle. No one cares now. No one will ever care. Stop stressing yourself and toss it out the window."
Chase holds the badge close to his chest. He can't throw it out the window and risk someone picking it up but he wants to be able to trust Garrett. There has to be another way. The arena isn't that far away. Chase looks at the badge. He closes his eyes and tosses it out the window.
He turns to smile at Garrett but Garrett is focused on driving and he doesn't say anything for the rest of the drive. Chase thinks about what he can do. He tossed the badge out the window like Garrett said but he can't risk anyone getting it.
Garrett pulls the car into the parking lot. Time to get the badge back. Garrett gets out of the car to get his bags. That's when Chase runs away, back to where he threw the badge.
About forty minutes later, Chase arrived back to where he remembered throwing the badge out the window. He spent several minutes searching before an officer walked up.
Officer, "Can I help you find something?"
Chase, "No, sir. I just dropped something and I'm looking for it."
Officer, "Alright. Carry on."
That was close. If the officer decided to help he could have found the badge and it would have been all over for Chase. Several minutes passed when he saw something shiny. He dove at it. He picked it up and smiled. He had found the badge. He dusted it off and put it in his pocket.
He takes off running back to the arena. The show is starting soon so he must hurry. He's been distracted by the badge too much. He cannot focus on the badge during the show. The goal is to retain the tag titles. The badge will only get in the way. There is a way to keep the badge out of his mind but it will take trusting someone who may be working against him.
He'll need to convince Garrett to take the badge. Tell him if he wants Chase to get rid of it then Chase will get rid of it by giving it to him to hold on to. It may not work. Garrett may not be trustworthy. If it doesn't work, Garrett knows Chase has the badge and he'll let the police know and they'll get him once the plane lands in America. Options are limited.
Chase arrives back at the arena. Screaming fans greet Chase but he just waves and hurries inside. Chase wanders the halls trying to find the locker room. He sees the names on the door and walks in. He sees the bags. Garrett had brought his and Chase's in. He walks over to Garrett's bags and opens one up. He puts the badge on the hoodie. This will be the ultimate test of trust.
Chase goes to another room in the locker room and watches for Garrett. Garrett walks in and sits down. Chase waits and waits for Garrett to get something out of his bag. The next 5 minutes go by slow but Garrett finally reaches for his bag and his hoodie. That's when he sees the badge. Chase suddenly appears and grabs the badge.
Chase, "They'd never expect to find the badge in your bag. But if they did find it in your bag then you'd be in trouble. So you'd be in this with me. You want me to get rid of it? Fine. Then you take it."
Garrett sighs.
Garrett, "Fine. If it means you'll stop obsessing and help me in our match then I'll take it. Let's just go win."
The match is about to start. Garrett is on Chase's side in this match and now in life. If Garrett says anything to the police then he'll get in trouble for having the badge in his bag. Trust goes a long way and today Chase knows he can trust Garrett. The focus right now is on the match. The badge is safely in Garrett's bag. There's no need to worry about it. There is match to win. A match that will either cement the dominance of Kokaine Konspiracy or prove Jayson Garrett and Chase Landon are a force to be reckoned with.
From his debut to his tag title victory to his disappearance to his resurgence throughout this journey, Chase Landon has wanted to show he has what it takes to be a great wrestler. Where better to prove that than at The Clash?
