You're hilarious. Please attempt stand-up comedy at some point, you'd make a killing (probably not as much as Benoit though). My favourites, if you must know, are Bret, Davey Boy, Mr Perfect and Chris Jericho Benoit was boring. He was a fantastic, aggressive performer in the ring but had zero mic skills and zero personality. This is fact. Did he really need a gimmick? Did he need a character? He didn't. His character was just that. An aggressive performer. His mic skills weren't that bad, and there were always worse performers speeking wise on the rosters. In-Ring, Benoit has been top caliber of ever locker room he's been in. I think you're just hung up on Benoit. I completely disagree. I loved Benoit's in-ring work, and I'd certainly rank him as one of the best of all time in that respect, no questions. But the guy had no personality! None whatsoever. All the way from Japan to WCW and all through his WWE tenure, he was just bland. It's all well and good to be an "aggressive performer" but you need something to back it up. Bret and Hennig were both amazing performers but they had character and a voice to back it up and tell you why they were so good. Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, same principle. Another way of looking at it is this - would Brock Lesnar be as successful now without a voice (Heyman) behind him? Him being an "aggressive performer" will only build an angle so much before it becomes bland and repetitive, much like Benoit. The voice (Heyman) is the next step up for his character, something Benoit lacked. 5 star matches, no stars on the mic or for character.

He was being shot to the moon regardless. Heyman only enhanced his gimmick. Although he couldn't talk himself. Lashley has the same formula except he didn't have someone talk for him.

That's my point, man. Heyman enhances Lesnar's character because he gives him a voice. Benoit didn't, Lashley didn't. Therefore they were bland.

Therefore they were bland. That doesn't make the character boring. Look at Sabu. Never talked on the mic, still fun to watch. Taz, never touched a mic until 3 years in ECW. Damn fun to watch. Mic skills can make or break people. But, in this case, its not true.

Stardust, Bray Wyatt, Fandango, and Adam Rose; they were Cody Rhodes, Husky Harris, Johnny Curtis, and Leo Kruger-guys who were very talented yet very boring IMO. Your thoughts? I thought Cody was going to have the same fate as Ted Dibiase Jr. My first impression of Cody was that his father's abilities weren't passed down to him at all. He was just a forgettable guy with great abs. The fact that WWE tried several different gimmicks and gave him time to develop should be a lesson on how to book a young talent. Cody's charisma eventually materialized. With Husky Harris, which was a horrible name, I knew something was there. However, WWE mishandled Nexus, so I didn't think he would be around long enough to find his stride. I'm glad I was wrong.

I saw a few Total Dives clips recently with Fandango out of kayfabe. He's a likable guy without that ridiculous gimmick. I hope the WWE doesn't give up on him if the Fandango gimmick tanks (again). What do they typically do with guys that need to be "re-invented"? Send them back to NXT to try some thing else out and then call them back up if and when they get rolling?

Something tells me that the Stardust character will be Cody Rhodes' last gimmick change since I heard rumors that both Vince McMahon and Triple H are reportedly very happy with the Stardust character and I also heard that the plan is for Stardust to replace Goldust as the WWE's "Bizarre One." Another reason that I could think of is that Vince's relationship with Dusty Rhodes has deteriorated ever since Dusty got backstage heat for putting his hand over Stephanie McMahon and hasn't been seen on TV since. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Dusty leaving the WWE altogether, putting the Rhodes name behind once and for all. Your thoughts?
